Tyler Perry Is Angered By MJ Media Coverage!
Tyler Perry called Q100’s The Bert Show in Atlanta Friday morning to discuss his thoughts on Michael Jackson’s passing and to urge fans and the media to give the Jackson family “respect and room to grieve.”
The director, who was due to direct Michael’s sister Janet in the sequel to his 2007 hit “Why Did I Get Married?” confirmed that Jackson was on her way to Atlanta to begin production on the film Thursday when she got word of her brother’s death and her plane was immediately re-routed to Los Angeles, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. This counters earlier reports that Jackson was in London when she got the news.
“I spoke to her yesterday,” Perry said. “She’s a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful girl. There’s no pretense. She’s a regular, beautiful human being. I just ask that people pray for her and her family.”
Perry went on to criticize media outlets who feel the need to mention Jackson’s trial on child molestation charges.
“These are human beings, they’re human beings,” Perry said. “I wouldn’t wish the level of fame he achieved on my worst enemy. I am so disgusted, that, with every great thing that’s being said about him, there’s a million negative things being said. Why can’t it just be about his legacy rather than the tarnished part of what he was acquitted for? It bothers me that this is the focus.”
Added Perry: “Growing up as a kid who was molested, I am never, ever going to be a defender of a molester. But the truth of the matter is, the man was acquitted. And I have seen first-hand what people will do for money.”
Perry added: “I hope that people will just send up a prayer for his family. Even though they’re famous these are regular human beings. If you cut them, they bleed. Having to deal with all this negativity is hard.”
The Atlanta film director and studio owner dismissed co-host Bert Weiss’ theory that father Joe Jackson is solely to blame for his son’s complicated life.
“I disagree with you,” said Perry. “I went through a lot of things with my father. Things I did not deserve as a kid. Things that he said to me, did to me. But it didn’t make me become something other than what I am right now. There comes a point in your life, that no matter who you are, you begin to find yourself.”

« Previous 1 2All these people that has something bad to say about Michael Jackson can not judge him. Only God can judge him,let him have his day in front of God. Me myself I am gonna remember him as the King of Pop that he was.
Really MLUCAS? Really? Did I write ANYTHING in my previous post that was new to you? Did I write anything you doubt? What exactly did I write that led you to think I take the media as God’s prophets?
I think you need to read that post again and try not to be so obtuse. My point was that the media is NOT in the business of showing any kind of respect. If you can’t accept that, don’t watch the news or buy papers. And if my ‘character’ offends you, go jump off a bridge. Seriously.
I found this beautiful poem on a website called beliefnet.
For all the people sitting in judgment, whether Michael Jackson will be in Heaven:
I was shocked, confused, bewildered
As I entered Heaven’s door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
Nor the lights or its decor.
But it was the folks in Heaven
Who made me sputter and gasp–
The thieves, the liars, the sinners,
The alcoholics and the trash.
There stood the kid from seventh grade
Who swiped my lunch money twice.
Next to him was my old neighbor
Who never said anything nice.
Herb, who I always thought
Was rotting away in hell,
Was sitting pretty on cloud nine,
Looking incredibly well.
I nudged Jesus, ‘What’s the deal?
I would love to hear Your take.
How’d all these sinners get up here?
God must’ve made a mistake.
‘And why’s everyone so quiet,
So somber – give me a clue.’
‘Hush, child,’ He said, ‘they’re all in shock.
No one thought they’d be seeing you.’
JUDGE NOT!!
Remember…Just going to church doesn’t make you a
Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car ..
Every saint has a PAST…
Every sinner has a FUTURE!
Now it’s your turn…,
“I Matter because He Has Made Me Matter”
The only people believing this crap are going by their experiences with sexual abuse which can leave a person pretty paranoid and not to mention bitter. I know firsthand.
I don’t beleive the allegations because I know for a fact that as a child they were not always rich and growing up poor made him comfortable and accustomed to sleeping with others, as they had to due to living in a two bedroom house. It was an innocent thing to do. many people had to share a bedroom or even a bed. Besides, you don’t have to sleep in the bed with someone to molest them. That is the part that irritates me. I am not convinced. I believe that Michael is innocent and I know that he’d be embarrassed by what I am about to say next but I hope that he is buried upside down so that that all of you evil MJ haters can kiss his a@% forever..
In response to la_fruta_probihibita. You speak of Michael as if you know him personally. All you know about him is what you have seen in the media. You take that information and process it as if was the word of God. Even that, people misinterpret. You are rejoicing in the fact that you are member of the Red Cross, and you help people, well, all that is good. But that does not count for character does it. Yeah, Michael was a great celebrity, but he was a human being. Everyone need to treat everyone the way that they would like to be treated. Their should a higher level of respect for someone when they have suffered a lose.
Mr. Perry is being humane and showing empathy…both commendable human traits. However, the media is not in the business of showing compassion. That’s why we have the Red Cross (of which I’m a 5 yr volunteer yay!)
Look, the media’s business is news. Of all types; dry and educative, just-stating-facts and entertainment. And Michael Jackson’s life, and death, have been entertaining.
His music/art was iconic and a trailblazer, his family was dysfunctional, his romantic life was shady/suspect/intriguing…how many people here 100% believe that he had actual sex with Ms. Rowe, ejaculated inside her and fathered the 1st two kids?
Anyway, my point is that while race might play a part in it, his race has ALWAYS been a big factor. First he’s black, then he’s white, then he’s just MJ.
I’m not a fan of putting people’s lives under a microscope and do not even read tabloids but the one thing I know is this. If you put yourself under the spotlight, please don’t birch when the spotlight decides to follow you.
LOL.
Peace.
PS: I still hope that MJ didn’t do those things, but if he did, I won’t lose any sleep over it.
PPS: How many of you bleeding hearts would have let your kids spend the night with MJ?
I agree with Tyler Perry on this one. I believe that anytime that a black man makes too much money or is put in a position of power that the white media will do any and everything that they can to tarnish his name, and they put on such a show that it has blacks speaking out against him as well, he probably was doing what he thought would please his agent, or himself, who knows? What would you do in his position? The media failed to mention that he has donated millions on top of millions to so many charities that it is hard to keep count! Think about it my sisters and brothers, they are trying to do the same thing to Obama! Position of Power! We need to stand behind our Black brothers and sisters, because they dont just attack them as a person they attack us as a race, as a family! I only pray that they will give the family the respected time to grieve before they start all of this nonsense! I love the Jackson family and my prayers go out to them at this time of loss, Michael Jackson was a wonderful man, son and brother, you will surely be missed!
I too agree with Tyler Perry. It brought tears to my eyes watching a broadcast on a local channel reporting on allegations made against Michael. In the loss of someones life on this earth we should celebrate their life and their achievements. I am absolutely disgusted at the fact that every anchor on tv failed to focus on what Michael has done for the entire world. I think that media is part of the reason the world is the way it is today. They can pull all the focus on the negativity and not once take the time out to share anything positive that occurs.
My heart felt prayers go out to the entire Jackson family and any lives that Michael has touched. The world has lost a wonderful man, but God has gained an even better soul.
TO THE JACKSON FAMILY!! IGNORE IF YOU CAN THE NEGITIVITY!
MICHAEL WAS A GREAT ICON!! WE ALL WILL MISS HIM DEARLY! MY CONDOLENCES.
BLESSINGS TO THE FAMILY!
GOD WAS JUST MISSING AN ANGEL.
I agree with Tyler Perry also he is so right they need time to grieve, I mean this happened so fast and I dont want to hear any negative comments about a person that just lost thier life at a young age so suddenly. The media made Micheal Jackson look so bad that there are people out there still talking about him being a chlid molestor and that thier glad hes dead. Im sorry but yeah I had to curse them out cause they were not there to know what happened and or if that really happened which I believe he is strange but a great talent and completely innocent. I LOVE YOU MJ RIP
I agree completely with Tyler Perry. Michael has been gone now a week and they are still talking about negative things that went on in his life. Now people you never heard of is trying to get their 15 minutes of fame discussing what when on behind his close doors. PLEASE let Michael rest in peace and give his family this time to grieve. LEAVE THEM ALONE ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. To the Jackson Family may God continue to give you comfort and strength.
I have to agree with TP. Michael is dead, and he can’t be here to defend his self. What you say now, can’t hurt him. But negative comments, can hurt his family.
I totally agree with Tyler Perry, however, that’s what the media is all about. Getting the news/gossip out there. Some of us want to hear it and some don’t. I personally don’t like negative news about people but that’s not going to go away. We might as well face it. Unfortunately that’s the way it is. It really doesn’t matter if your black or white, rich or poor. The media is going to put you on BLAST. I too dislikes the way the media digs up a lot of dirt on folks living or deceased. But again, that’s the way it is. Gossip, gossip, gossip. It’s not right but folks suck it up. That’s just the same as someone who is doing well in the eyes of other’s. The media talks about them too. It’s just that it’s something good. THANK GOD.
I do get tired of the media messing with the dead. But hey, they mess with you when your alive soooooo.
R.I.P. Michael Jackson and MY LOVE GOES OUT WITH YOU, JACKSON FAMILY. I LOVE YOU ALL
Its so good to see people are really down for the Jackson family. Everytime you look at access hollywood, tmz, etc. they are all talking about his trail that he was acquitted for. Not one time have they mentioned how he helped that familys son with his cancer, and that the mother went to prison for lying, welfare fraud, and insurance fraud. But we all know the truth. I really think that the media can’t stand how Great He was, and how people all over the world are so hurt that hes deceased. So they have to try and stir some bad blood. BUT OUR LOVE, THOUGHTS, WISHES, AND OUR DEEPEST CONDOLENCES, ARE WITH THE JACKSON FAMILY, MAY GOD KEEP YOU AND GUIDE YOU THROUGH THIS TIME. ANGELS ALL AROUND YOU AND YOURS.
I agree with Tyler Perry. You know this world is filled with blood suckers, leaches, that all want to see is failure. Ever since Michael Jackson passing, the media has been nothing but another blood sucker that see nothing but falure. we all have fallen short in our lives, and no one is perfect. When we get cut we bleed, when we fall we feel the pain. This is no time to tarnish MJ legacy cause of his down falls cause everyone that walk the concrete of this earth have fallen short. There is no one better than another. The Jackson family are in mourning at least the media can do is respect their privacy. My thoughts and prayers are with the Jackson family through their time of grieve.
I agree 100% with Mr. Perry. The media seems like that’s all they want to talk about though…..the negatives. They fail to realize that all what they are reporting is hurting the family && don’t seem to care!!! Micheal will be/is missed. R.I.P
I understand where Tyler Perry is coming from, the media is focused on the negative, the Jackson family needs to have peace right now, that’s the past look at what Micheal Jackson did while he was alive the family is dealing with alot, and who gives a shyt about Tyler Perry dressing like a woman this is’nt about Tyler Perry it’s about what he is saying right now.
ppl can’t handle King Micheal Jackson greatness so they want to slash him, forgetting his children are in so much pain for loosing their father the man who love them since day 1,but the real fans know and will show his family that we are there for them pray and chant for their souls.
