When the name, “Donnell Rawlings” gets mentioned in an Ohio comedy club, people be like: “Who?” Let’s face it, folks, if Chappelle did a one-man act (without them other guys) Dave would have STILL been popular! Oh, and um, I know some BOUNCERS who DO get ladies (because some women prefer WARRIORS over CLOWNS.) Rawlings should be grateful because there’s far worse gigs he could have ended up with, 4 real!

Dave left after that last skit he did with him parodying the angel and devil sitting on a person’s shoulder. There were two black caricatures and I believe after this skit it hit Dave that black folks weren’t the only people watching his show and so in a sense he was allowing the perpetuation of black stereotypes. He went to the mother land after that. the Dave Chapell show was endorsed for 10,000,000 dollars for the two seasons it was supposed to run and he walked away from all that. I really could care less about the Donnell Rawlings, he’s never been particularly funny to me.

This stand-up comedian, screenwriter, producer and actor is most famous for creating Chappelle’s Show, a ground-breaking sketch comedy television series which ran on Comedy Central until 2006. The DVD set is currently the all-time best-selling DVD for a television show, having sold more than three million copies. Its early success prompted Viacom (Comedy Central’s parent company) to offer Chappelle a $55 million contract for the production of two more seasons of Chappelle’s Show. The production of season 3 was extremely difficult, however, as Chappelle did not like the direction the show was taking. On May 2005, Chappelle abruptly left the production of season 3 of the show and traveled to Africa. A media frenzy ensued, fueled by speculation and rumors of Chappelle “going crazy” and being on drugs. Upon his return, Chappelle was interviewed on Inside the Actors Studio in December 2005. He discussed many subjects, including his reasons for leaving for Africa. In this next portion of the interview, Chappelle describes in a very vivid matter the “sick” nature of Hollywood.
