I think Tupac always has been and always will be among the greatest rappers of all time. And when I say rapper, I mean those who have a strong lyrical message in their rhymes. Words and messages that actually make sense. Granted there were many times Tupac’s words were quite harsh, especially on women. However he did balanced it out with explaining why he used the terms. For example,”Wonder why they call you B—-”, “Brenda’s got a baby”, and the homey-lover-friend rap ballad, “Never call you B—- again. I think rappers today can learn a lot from Tupac and other rappers back in the 90′s and even the 80′s. After all, aren’t these the people that influenced them to get into the business in the first place?

King mag couldn’t end it with a little class, they had to go and try to start beef with a man who isn’t even with us any longer. But let them say what they want. The main problem I have with this kind of list is these rappers usually get judged on their image, not their talent (if they have any at all) like 95% of all music entertainers these days.

Secondly they pick “Rappers” and then try to rate them as MC’s. Pac’s problem is he was both a rapper and an MC. At times he let his street nature make him a rapper on some songs, but other times he was an MC due to listening to the human side of himself that we all can relate to. Therefore, it’s not easy to categorize pac. Anyone who has followed him since way before he shared mics with digital underground (the world never heard of pac then), you will know that pac was far better than average, period.

IN my opinion, had pac lived he would be up there with KRS (a real MC) because pac was already showing signs of getting to this level. Big on the other hand had far to go..when he died, he was still a puppet for puffy like all bad boy artist are. Puffy was forcing big to put out commercial music to make money…puffy don’t care about MC’s…it’s puffy’s way or the highway…just look at the track record on bad boy artist after dealing with puff.

So yeah, just becuase your hot at the moment and all the buzz is on you (usually last about a 3 year span), you will always be considered great…this is were big was at…he didn’t have time to show who he truly was as an artist…he was still spittin out Puffy approved tracks. he died too soon in his career…he was gone before his second album. Give me about 5 more years of Big. some projects without puffy’s name on it and then I could truly rate him on how great he was or wasn’t.

But polls like this one here, stop it…it’s ridiculous…your just trying to hype up king magazine and get people to buy it…I hope no one believes this crap.

WOW!!! what makes a great MC? 2pac was a great artist one of my fave of all time. though he lack some of the clever punch line and mind twisting lyrics. he was still great in his own ways. his songs inspired you and you can actually invision what he was saying in them. how many songs today can change your mood like his songs did.

I cant convince all yall but I know im convinced that Tupac is a great rapper. Tupac expressed his own emotions, whether they were hidden or out in the open, and gave outcast’d people of that time a message. A message that basically said your not alone. Any rapper that can make his listeners feel as if they are not alone, reguardless what subject he’s rapping about, you will amount to greatness. Thats the same as T.I. He uses both words wisdom and words of experience, 2 things people can vibe to in order to make his hits.

2pac Shakur is not overrated. but i will agree with your list. except for PAC of course. but i have a few suggestions to add to the list: T.I., Kanye West, Ludacris. just to name a few

Pac dead or alive was able to bring something out of ppl with his music. Was relavant and real music from a real person with real drama. Hell for some ppl its easier to listen to a pac album then read the newspaper. Lastly I know too many who can spit but there are very few who can write and put it down for consumer consumption. Okay, I’ve been reading a lot of the comments posted on here and finally decided to give my input. Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but the truth is the truth. 2Pac was the Greatest Rapper in History. To this date, he is more known over the world among middle and young adults than an other rapper in the past and present. Some may disagree, but let me take this to another level. If 2Pac wasn’t the Greatest Rapper of All Time, then tell me why are there so many Rappers out now still mentioning him in their songs, trying to imitate him or even take photo shots similar to Pac? Don’t know of any rappers. Hmmm. Let’s see, Lil’ Wayne, Jay-Z, Nas, Ja Rule, DMX, T. I. and even 50 Cents. These are some of the heavy hitters. Even Keisha Cole is using him in one of her songs. We all know that if Pac was alive he would Rip any and everyone out today. As a matter of fact, with all of the garbage out today, I still listen to the old school hits; especially Pac. Skills and sales have nothing to do with one another. Think Vanilla Ice, JJ Fad, Sir Mix A Lot, the guys who did Macarena, and anyone on the “one hit wonder” lists.

Truthfully I wanna rhyme like Common Sense, but I did 5 mil, I ain’t been rhymin like Common Sense.. ” Even Biggie, in an interview, said that Pac told him to dumb down his rhymes in order to make more sales, so Pac clearly knew that what he was writing wasn’t the best he could possibly do, but that it would sell records.

So we’ll never know if Pac was really a better MC than his work. But he clearly was smart enough to know how to make money.

Now there might be a lot of artist out there that have something valid to speak about, but if they got no skills, can’t rhyme well, rap over whack used beats, then they not likely to make it onto my turntables or onto my iPod. Pac is one such artist, the likes of Public Enemy had more truth to speak than Pac ever did, and they did it in an original never to be matched way, The likes of Rakim, KRS, Melle Mel, and so many more MC’s produce real Hip-Hop, Tupac should have stayed down with Digital Underground because they had talent.

I wasnt even going to justify this bulls**t with a response, Tupac was the greatest ever, hands down. Biggie I think as much as he was skilled, why after just two studio ablums, one of which was kindve average, is there any dispute about who was the best? Pac did some of that, but the beauty of Pacs music was the story telling, even back with 2paclypse now and put on soldiers story, close your eyes and listen to it and if you cant see the picture hes painting, youre blind and that was just in the beggining.
