Electing Obama is not the end of this campaign – just the beginning. He’ll set us on track to a more promising tomorrow. And these guys know it. Common, Chuck D, Wyclef – these are not just talking head celebrities jumping on the Obama bandwagon. They’re some of the smartest guys out there who have been pushing for change for years.

Chuck D..that was hilarious, but true. Wyclef’s statement is as real as you can get. We cant afford to sit back, party, and or f**k up should Barack Obama win. We have to change our collective mindset, and way of living. 1 man or woman cant change the world. They can only spark within people – who have the desire to change.

In my opinion, Hip Hop “collectively” shutting the f**k up until now – a week before the election – has been one the BEST RESPONSIBLE things that the culture has done in a long time.

Outside of Diddy’s nonsensical (at times mildly amusing) video rants, Ludacris referring to Hillary as a b***h (in a song that I’m glad went away quickly)…by being quiet and OBSERVING – Hip Hop become responsible, if only for a moment. Although not Hip Hop related, I’m happy that Tavis “Crab Barrel” Smiley played the back, after his “wtf?” attack of Barack Obama this past spring.

By being quiet, and observing, Hip Hop – artists, fans, and those who actually live this culture, took a look at themselves, the candidates, issues, and how voting (or not voting) may affect their lives. Yea, its nice that the artists have spoken up now, but the REAL satisfaction is knowing that we are optimistic, in a way that we haven’t been previously.

We now overstand that we have a choice: to vote…and that choice can possibly change our lives. VOTE!
