Allen Iverson Going to Memphis Grizzlies?

After announcing that he was meeting with members of the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies organization, Allen Iverson has stated via his Twitter page that he will be joining the team for the 2009-2010 season. However, there has been no official announcement made by the team.

In the Twitter Message Iverson said “God Chose Memphis as the place that I will continue my career. I met with Mr. Heinsley, Chris Wallace and my next head coach Lionel Hollins.”

Memphis would be Iverson’s fourth National Basketball Association team after beginning his career in Philadelphia and playing for Denver and Detroit.

He’s averaged 27.1 points per game during his 13-year career. After being traded to Detroit from Denver last year, he averaged 17.4 points a game.

The obvious discussion will center around Iverson’s ability to share the ball. The prolific scorer would be sharing the backcourt with second-year guard O.J. Mayo. Mayo was a runner-up for Rookie of The Year averaging 18.5 points per game in 2008-09 and was the Grizzlie’s second leading scorer behind forward Rudy Gay.

    I could work. AI might want to lead more by shooting a little less. MJ, Kobe had to learn these things to improve their teams. Gay and Mayo (let’s not forget the other Gasol-7 footer) Memphis has a nice nucleus. AI could be that spark plug off the bench and still get shots. He may still be faster than 75 percent of the NBA guards. Watch out !

    It’s sad to see a great ballplayer pretty much begging to work. I met him and his crew out in Az and he seemed like a pretty cool dude. The only thing is when you step on toes or piss in the wind, it tends to come back on you.

    Im glad they got him, cuz I’ve alwayz wanted to go to a game, But I didn’t know anybody….lol…..on the team that is!

    I wish M.J. would buy the CBA or AND 1 and draft all the black players A.I. has been a trendsetter all his career, matter fact his first highlight involved Mike himself… and ever since then the league has made him a scapegoat from dressing to hair, and all he has done was be humble… please M.J. start yo own league and let all my real niggas express themselves without white folks opinion

    I think that with A.I. the Grizzles can get in the playoffs as high as a #6 seed. This season I think the Eastern conference will be stronger and more teams will be able to win 50+ plus games in the east. I actually think the west will be more competitive and the Lakers won’t be up about 15 games on the #2 seed. That isn’t basketball. Pro basketball is supposed to be competitive.
