J-Hud, Chaka Khan Confirmed For Whitney Grammy Tribute [VIDEO]

After celebrating the success of his label YMCMB with performances, plaques,  announcements (Christina Milian is now signed to the label) and even a moment of silence for Whitney Houston, he couldn’t help but take a jab at Kanye West and Jay-Z.

“I ain’t really got nothing else to say, but uh…I met a bad red bone, I took the b*tch home, I asked her what she want to watch she said surely not the Throne,” spit Lil Tunechi, who immediately dropped the mic and walked off the stage.

This is the second such shot Weezy has taken at Jay-Z. On “It’s Good” from Tha Carter IV weezy rhymed “Talkin’ ’bout baby money, I got your baby money / Kidnap your bitch, Get that ‘how much you love your lady?’ money.”

The boast was supposedly in retaliation for a jab Jay-Z sent on “H.A.M” where he said “I’m like really half a billi n*gga, Really you got baby money / Keep it real with n*ggas, N*ggas aint got my lady money.”

We can only guess that Jay-Z has been more preoccupied with his own baby’s money to respond to Lil Wayne. The new dad just released photos of he and Beyonce’s daughter Blue Ivy Carter. Jay sampled her voice for her tribute song “Glory”, making her the youngest person ever to chart on Billboard.

After admitting that his nameless jabs on “Sweet” were aimed at Drake, October’s Very Own responded on Rick Ross’s recent mixtape cut. However, Com didn’t wait long to jump on the end of the song to send a very direct message:

“You ain’t wettin nobody n*gga/ You Canada Dry…”

In an open letter, the artist best known for his battle with LL Cool and the classic diss record “Second Round K.O.”, said he felt disrespected by Cole for not mentioning his newer work.

“Cole might say he does this to pay homage, but in reality, by him playing my older material owned by my former label dating back to 1998, subsequently overlooking my current works and contributions which directly benefit me now, he is treating me less like an artist that has, and continues to contribute, influence, and inspire an even younger generation of MC’s coming up…” (read the full letter here)

Canibus went on to add that Cole speaks about him “like he’s dead.”

The letter was followed by a diss track called “J. Clone”(listen here) where Bis calls Cole out by his government name Jermaine and replays sound bites of interviews where Cole praises him. “If it ain’t a threat, then it must be a promise / You said my name so much they think you’re being honest.”

The entire campaign wreaked of a desperate plea for attention and there was a very vocal outcry from fans and artists alike. Sean Price, who has recorded songs with Canibus on several occasions even Tweeted, “You get no points dissin J. Cole. Leave that man alone Canibus.”

Well, it appears that Canibus got the message loud and clear and issued the following apology via Youtube.

“I’ve seen thousands of comments about this J.Cole track and all of the negativity it’s stirring up, ” he says with Slick Rick’s “Hey Young World” playing in the background. “And after 48 hours of it I feel confident enough to say that it’s unanimous. Hip-Hop has spoken up loud and clear. It’s a “Cole” world right now and you’re the reigning champ, J. I take a full responsibility for my actions and I apologize for stepping over the line.”

Truth be told, Canibus’s gripe is not unique. Many veteran hip-hop artists who still record have publicly wished that fans and DJs would embrace their new work instead of living in the past. But that doesn’t mean they go and attack those who still support them. Furthermore, you have some artists like Lil Kim who have waged war on MCs for NOT paying homage in the way Cole has. What kind of message is this sending to new artists?

Fourteen years ago Canibus was the young buck “paying homage” and the old head took it the wrong way. You’d think he’d remember that. But throughout his career Canibus has morphed into this curmudgeonly, stereotypical mad rapper picking bones with everyone from Eminem, Joe Budden and Royce Da 5′ 9′ to even KRS-ONE. So the collective eye roll at this J.Cole shot seemed to finally shame him into calming down.

“I’m not a hater, I just went too far and I hope hip-hop can forgive me for my foolishness,” he concludes. “I’m gonna go sit my old ass down somewhere right now. Happy Holidays, man.”

You released the track “Massacre” last month, which addressed the Lil Kim-Nicki Minaj feud. What do you think about that situation?

Nicki has always been cool with me. She and I have something online I did for her — it was a video shoot with Lil Wayne and Rick Ross, [when] she wasn’t signed yet. And she was like, “Foxy is the first female artist who ever embraced me.” She was classy; she was articulate. I’m so proud of her.

Of course, people everywhere clearly are saying, “She wants to be Foxy, she wants to be Kim.” Everybody’s going to say that. But do I think she’s doing an incredible job at branding herself? Yes, I do. When you’re an icon in the music business…like Mary J. Blige. Keyshia Cole came out after her, [but] you didn’t hear Mary J. Blige starting a beef with her just because they compared [Keyshia to] her. Mary J. Blige stayed clean. She does what she does, and I do what I do.

Meanwhile, Lil Kim stays outspoken.

Had she let the people say, “Oh [Nicki], you’re trying to be Kim, you’re a fake Kim,” then it doesn’t come directly from her. But when you’re using that as a platform to bring your new album out, that’s like, “Oh my God, wait a minute.” I don’t condone it at all; I don’t think it’s cute.

Nicki clearly drew from both Kim and me. And she hasn’t been disrespectful to me in any way — I haven’t heard her be disrespectful toward anybody else but Kim. And at some point, it’s like, O.K., Kim, you’ve had a problem with Foxy, you’ve had a problem with Nicki, you’ve had a problem with Faith [Evans], with Charli [Baltimore], with everybody. It’s like, enough already. I choose to stay out of it. Put out great music, and that’s that.

While there isn’t really nothing new presented in the video, we think Nicki’s done well enough establishing her own identity (or should we say identities?) and moving away from the Lil Kim-isms that were definitely present when she first burst on the scene.

He got his 15 minutes of fame thanks to an emotional YouTube video he made in the aftermath of Britney Spears’ disastrous comeback performance at the 2007 MTV VMA’s in which he pleaded for her critics to leave her alone.

Now in 2010, an aspiring singer simply named Tabitha has released a video on YouTube where she tearfully pleads for Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim to stop beefing.

Sadly, we don’t get to see Tabitha break down, as the video is simply a picture slide show that emphasizes the lyrics. For all of the hilariously overwrought melodrama on display throughout the song, we get what Tabitha’s trying to say.

Tabitha’s whole deal is that we don’t need to see two prominent females in hip-hop, a genre of music already lacking in female representation, beefing with each other.

A brief feud between Fabolous and Soulja Boy, which started on Twitter, has been resolved on the radio waves of New York City.
DJ Clue of Power 105 in New York conducted a brief interview where the two men settled their differences.

The entire incident started after Soulja Boy was allegedly caught in a tryst with Kat Stack, who said the young rapper was snorting cocaine. The vixen also showed a plate of what seemed to be the illegal drug in an online video.

After the video went viral, Fabolous took to his Twitter with commentary that used humorous lingo “#stupidboyswag,” a play off Soulja Boy’s hit “Pretty Boy Swag.”

“I thought that he was taking shots at me, when it was just jokes. It was a misunderstanding, a mis-communication,” Soulja Boy said on the radio on Wednesday night. “I’m about making money.”

Fabolous was brief and agreed with his younger counterpart.

“We’re not trying to make a LeBron special…we smoothed it out and back to the money,” he said. “I know people thought it was going to be a [Manny] Pacquiao fight, but we sat down like bosses.

Wyclef Jean, former Haitian president hopeful, has sent a shot to detractors actor Sean Pen and former band mate Pras.
The multifaceted musician performed at Hot 97′s On Da Reggae Tip concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York.

He sang, “If I was president….I got a message for Sean Penn, maybe he ain’t see me in Haiti because he was too busy sniffing cocaine. I got a message for Praswell, even though you don’t want to support me, I got love for you, even though you only kicked eight bars for the Fugee.”

Both Penn and Pras, who was in The Fugees with Wyclef, were critical of the rapper after he announced his bid for as president of Haiti.

This beef all started back in 2002 when The Source Magazine didn’t give Eminem’s album “The Eminem Show” 5 mics. Em blamed Benzino for the judgement and disrespected him backstage during a rap summit in Puerto Rico.

While on Hot 97 Benzino and his crew spit a freestyle where he dissed Em over the Nas beat “Made You Look.” Later that month 50 cent hosted Hot 97 and Eminem called in to promote his movie “8 Mile” where he called his now enemy- “Hasbenzino.”

That same night hasbenzino Benzino ran to the studio to record this:

Yeah, Benzino isn’t the greatest rapper…

While everyone was waiting for a comeback record, Eminem was in the studio putting together a Mixtape (yup, and entire Mixtape!). Of all of the four diss tracks against Benzino and The Source, this one stuck in my mind the most:

you stop for dummy? If you slew some crack
you’d make alot more money than you do from rap”

It only got uglier from there. The media seemed to be siding with Eminem and Benzino’s records weren’t getting rotation on the radio, or on television. He even got mad at Hot 97 host Angie Martinez for her lack of Benzino support. He wouldn’t give up though, after seemingly loosing the Eminem battle, in 2003 Benzino released several tapes of Eminem’s racist freestyle where he called black people “nigg*rs, b*tches and sluts”

None-the-less Eminem was forgiven and Benzino hasn’t been heard from since.

I won’t render a decision on who won, you can do that!

I will say this though– “No one want’s to hear their grandfather rap” {Busts out with laughter}.

Snoop Dogg found himself in a little hot water with the boys in blue 24 hours before his concert yesterday in Oklahoma.

A video posted on the internet shows an Oklahoma member of the Crips threatening Snoop based on comments he made about gang life outside of Los Angeles in a 2009 interview with DJ Green Lantern.

“Gang life has dramatically changed in L.A,” Snoop said. “In California we are playing by a different set of rules and regulations, so all these cats out here you see throwing up their flag and reppin’ need to be careful because that could end up real bad for them.”

In the latest round of her “I hate Nicki Minaj” campaign she met with Ed Lover of Power 105.1 in NYC and responded to…wait for it…other people’s responses to her.

When Diddy replied that “there was no beef” and that Kim was “mad” Ms. Jones had this to say:

“Quite frankly, I gotta say I was very disappointed in him because usually he says something very intelligent and usually I can take something from him as my big brother. But I must say that in this specific statement that he made I was very disappointed…because number one he said I was mad. He set up there and said “she never tried to copy you, she never said anything bad against you”. Look at the new video! she talking about “did i kill the queen”. You wanna be subliminal? This is hip hop!  If I was mad New York, we would have had the first earthquake you’ve ever seen!”

The funny thing is an earthquake did indeed register in Canada yesterday that shook buildings in NYC and prompted many 911 calls.

Did Kobe Bryant not get the “no bitchassness” memo from P. Diddy?  After winning his fifth NBA title a reporter asked the Los Angeles Lakers MVP what the championship meant to him “individually” and he replied, “I’ve got one more than Shaq.”

But these comments last night from Black Mamba make it appear than Kobe is still living up to his namesake and that the beef is still on.

According to the video, Jimmy, Fab and Red Cafe shared some tweets in regards to each other recently and it has sparked a bit of a problem. I never thought of Jim Jones as a Spartan but he considers himself one, and claims if Fab or Cafe dared pass the line of scrimmage (wait um, first you’re a Spartan now you’re a football player?) that it would be a wrap for their a**. Though, these two rappers aren’t considered the “greats” Fab has a few more accomplishments than Jimmy.
