I guess Jay-Z ain't trying to have no competition.

I guess Jay-Z ain’t trying to have no competition.

VIA MTV:

Officially, 50 Cent just told us that Before I Self Destruct is now slated for a September 29 release, the last Tuesday of that month. But as we’ve become accustomed to, Fif can drop an album anytime he wants. A street album. 50 does what no other artist who has sold the amount of records or gained the mainstream fame he has will do: consistently give free product back to the core who launched his career. In just the last couple of weeks, he hit with two dope bodies of work, War Angel LP and Forever King, and is probably going to drop two more joints before the album comes out. Fif explained to us that he just can’t contain himself.

“I don’t have the ability to do that,” Fif answered about why he put the tapes out at a fever pace. “You have to set up records now, position them at radio. I get frustrated with that sh–. Sometimes I just want people to hear what I just did. I be like, ‘This sh– is hot, I want it out now. So I’mma just start giving it away.’ ”

But for Before I Self Destruct, you’ll have to make a purchase.

“My album — it’s perfect, I feel,” he described. “I’m ready. I’m ready to put this album out. I really don’t need adjustments. I need a few songs to be finished, mixed. Dre, he drags his feet. He’s slow, but it’s because he’s so creative. He’s gonna make sure it’s perfect. I’m never mad at it. I understand that process from him. But for me, I kinda go on my gut. Ain’t nobody pick 50 Cent records. ‘Wanksta’ went on its own. They caught up to my records. The only record they launched was ‘In da Club.’ When we was all on deck and they launched it. Even going back to the last record — ‘I Get Money’ was going at a great pace, then ‘Ayo Technology’ fell on top of it. I had all of the records that sold the Curtis record laying there the whole time. I was just like, ‘I can’t put this out until after I’ve done this.’ My core, if they can’t expect aggressive content or that content that feels like what’s going on for them at the moment from me, then who can they get it from?”

I guess we can dead another rumor. But wouldn’t it have been nice to see them go at it?:

VIA DX:

In a move that seems all too familiar, rapper 50 Cent has announced that he will release his fourth studio album the same day Jay Z’s Blueprint 3 is released.

According to YoRaps.com a source in the G-Unit camp has revealed that 50 Cent’s Before I Self Destruct will be released on September 11, the exact same day Jay Z’s Blueprint 3 drops.

Almost two years ago, 50 Cent released his third album Curtis the exact same day as Kanye West’s Graduation. Ironically, the albums were also released on September 11.

In an interview with Funkmaster Flex two years ago 50 Cent shared his thoughts on releasing an album the same day as Kanye.

“I hope they see and understand what’s getting ready to happen,” 50 Cent said. “I’m coming September 11. If Kanye comes that day, he comes that day. That’ll be great. I think his people are smart, I think he’s smart too … I think they’ll move. But I’m coming September 11.”

50 Cent’s Before I Self Destruct has been given several release dates, but has been pushed back every time. Most recently, 50 Cent released his War Angel LP and spoke to MTV about the LP.

“This material, I felt it fits the summer,” 50 Cent explained to MTV. “The whole vibe. I used the War Angel title for it [because] I read a comic book through Marvel Comics. The guy who created it, he’s done ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ and illustrations I’m familiar with. He created this concept: War Angel. God created these angels to create war. It’s necessary on some level. I took the concept. It’s kinda from the perspective I grew up under.”

Who will make more noise come September 11 – Jay-Z or 50 Cent? Speak on it below!

It appears as though 50 Cent never stops thinking of new ventures to become a part of. Whether it’s music, clothing lines, movie roles or books, the rapper has been a part of a myriad of enterprises.

Now, Reuters reports, 50 will be adding film production to the ever-growing list. Fif is spending this week at the Sundance Film Festival promoting his new film production company, Cheetah Vision.

“I don’t think it will affect me as much as it will the other people that are out there because I’m not afraid to finance some of these things myself if I have to,” he said.

50 is known for his business acumen, particularly for his performance from June 2007 and June 2008, a period during which Forbes listed him as the No. 26-ranked celebrity earner. He pulled in an estimated $150 million for the year, $100 million of which came from the sale of Glaceau (a company 50 had a stake in) to Coca-Cola Co.

50 explained that Cheetah Vision has bought eight scripts, and that one of the first ones to be produced would be The Dance, starring himself and Nicolas Cage.

“(The script) was previously passed around a little bit but both me and Nicolas Cage had an interest in the film so it will still happen. He plays the founder of a boxing program, and I play a fighter who goes to state prison,” said 50.

“They are all different types of movies that I bought the rights to, and we’re developing projects. You will see different things from me in the future,” he added.

The rapper will also be making his debut as a director this year when he gives out the film Before I Self Destruct free with his album of the same name. Fifty also wrote and produced the flick.

“It’s an opportunity to make sure my fans get to see my first piece,” he said of the film. “It actually allowed me to show cause and effect to some of the actions that I wrote about on the album.”

“Because I have three minutes to create a song it’s not enough time for me to give an explanation for a person doing these things. It’s just saying the action and not giving a description of the circumstances they are under,” he says.

50 Cent is heading back to his darker, gangsta roots with his newest CD, after his last release failed to meet his expectations for sales numbers.

50 Cent’s new effort Before I Self Destruct will be released on December 9th. This year 50 will not be competing head to head with Kanye West as he was last year.

“If I could change anything,” 50 told Rolling Stone. “I’d change the timing that I released it. But together we created the largest selling week for hip-hop music.”

On his new work, 50 Cent won’t be having as many guest collaborations as he has in the past.

“It’s darker,” he said. “It has the essence of Get Rich or Die Trying. It’s authentic with harsh realities.”

50 won’t be completely alone, though. There will be guest appearances by Dr. Dre and Eminem.

Although the big boss man, 50 Cent, may not be worth his rap moniker, the mogul is concerned about his financial assets as stock markets and real estate values continue to plummet.

While 50 Cent may not literally see his net worth dwindle down to the amount of his rap moniker, the mogul is worried about his financial assets as stock markets and real estate values continue to plummet.

“I lost a couple million dollars already,” the rapper told Canadian Press. “I sit with my investors and business managers and accountants looking at the numbers and I’m like, ‘Yo, the values of stocks in different areas that I invested in are decreasing!’ So I take the loss like everybody else.”

The sagging economy also persuaded 50 to delay the release of his new CD, Before I Self Destruct, which was supposed to hit stores in time for Christmas. The release has been pushed back into 2009 to get more airplay for singles and build up as much hype as possible to ensure that CD sales aren’t disappointing.

“Pushing it back was to position myself a little better. I want to make sure (buyers) hear some things before I actually get my CD physically on sale,” he said.

The rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, has also been trying to sell his $18.5 million mansion for more than a year now. He purchased the home from Mike Tyson, who, himself, lost most of his money and was forced to place the house on the market. Every day, 50 says he’s reminded of the former boxer’s fall from grace.

“I’m waking up in a room that was previously Mike Tyson’s bedroom, a fighter who earned over $500 million in his actual career, and when I purchased his house from him he was in bankruptcy,” said 50. “If that’s not a strong enough reminder for you, I don’t know what’s going to remind you to be aware of where you are financially and make conscious decisions.”

You can tell 50 Cent has been making movies during the better part of these past two years. The clip for “Get Up,” Fitty’s latest desperate plea for your attention, contains all the worst parts of your favorite cheesy action movies in one inexplicable 4-minute package.

If you’re a fan of aggressively being told what to do in a post-apocalyptic setting, this might be your favorite video.

Sorry, Fitty. I guess niggas is mad they spent all that money on them quarter waters when everybody know G2 is low in calories–and my mama like it. So if my mama like it, I like it.

What exactly are we looking at here? Is this the straight-to-BET Lackluster Cinema version of Universal Soldier 4: Back 2 Da Hood? Maybe this is the Will Smith-less cover for I Am Finished. Either way, somebody should make 50 aware that the whole Terminate On Sight marketing campaign didn’t work out very well. He may have been too busy steaming blunts with Val Kilmer to notice.

I guess Shady/Aftermath, like the Republican party, has committed to more of the same. They’re taking a hard line here with the Cyborg Gangsters, but if they keep sending troops maybe something will give.

Our hero clearly found reassurance from somewhere. The confidence in a line like, “My question is, ‘Who they gonna blame/ when I’m back #1 on the Billboard again?’” indicates that somebody done found The Secret. If you believe it, do some ecstasy with Banks and Yayo, and scantly represent it on an Etch-A-Sketch, you can achieve it!

We can also just stumble upon blackaneese video hoes dressed like Jamaican strippers in the middle of the war zone.

“Bloodclaat. A my Elektra dis!”

While this video’s redeeming qualities are few and far-between, I did learn something. 50 Cent will revive a half-dead stranger before he throws any more gorilla pipe to Vivica Fox. That’s good to know in the event I run into her at another Waffle House or something.

“Get Up” is very Kobe in its approach to keeping the ladies engaged. It’s reminiscent of Teddy Pendegrass, who–as wise man once said–“scared the bitches into giving up the pussy.” [Name that wise man.]

I still don’t understand the ending. Is Cap’n P.I.M.P. saving all the video hoes now? Them’s mixed messages like a motherucker coming from the nigga who made “Bitch, Get In My Car.”

[Blogger's Note: I've got room for all ye who wish to ride.]

Questions? Comments? Requests? Still think Vivica’s a good look? ron@ronmexicocity.com
