But our friends at TheSmokingSection have as long a memory as we do (pause) and have compiled the dirty dozen of super pacs (potentially awesome collabos)  that never materialized.

In 1999, Ja Rule’s Venni, Vetti, Vecci raced to the top of the charts, fueled by the hit single “Holla Holla.” However, it was the album track “Murdagram,” featuring heavyweights Jay-Z and DMX, that sent jolts of excitement pulsing throughout the Hip-Hop world. In the same year, the three New York giants posed for a seminal XXL cover as Murder Inc., which increased speculation that the trio would produce an album. The album, of course, was never recorded.

According to TMZ, a Ruff Ryders reunion is in the works. DMX himself has said “We are all family and we’re going to come back stronger than when we left … It’s going to take the nation by storm.” Swizz Beatz, Eve, Drag On, & Murda-Mook have all signed on to do the reunion. Eve told TMZ to “expect a massive comeback.” The only ingredient missing is the LOX, they have yet to sign on; But X is very sure that will change once he speaks to them. Fans have been looking forward to the return of the crew, look no more because “X Gon Give It To Ya.”

The Urban Daily is especially proud because our Chief Content Officer Smokey D. Fontaine co-authored an entry. He and DMX collaborated on E.A.R.L.: The Autobiography of DMX. Here’s what XXL had to say about our friend and boss:

It was DMX’s passion and revealing honesty that helped the Ruff Ryder thrive as an artist in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and those same factors ensured that his book, E.A.R.L.: The Autobiography of DMX (Harper Collins), was as gripping as the emotional prayers heard on his albums. The autobiography focuses more on the man than on his music, with the Dark Man opening up about violence, imprisonment, familial neglect and building his family during his formative years. The unpredictability that has marked much of the Yonkers rapper’s career was, unsurprisingly, also present during the writing process. What ensued for co-author Smokey D. Fontaine was months on the road, hundreds of hours of tape and full immersion in DMX’s everyday life. “I carried a micro-cassette [recorder] in my pocket everywhere we went. Had my hand in my pocket. We’d be in conversation, whenever we started getting into it, I’d press record,” Fontaine says. “We never had one scheduled time to sit down and talk about his life. It was all fly-on-the-wall. It was all completely organic.” Like X.

While still locked underneath the jail, Simmons gave an interview to Vibe Magazine where he was quoted saying, “F**k Jay-Z!” Apparently, Jay-Z had been hitting X with the extreme fade in recent years. The Yonkers bred rhyme slinger also commented on not liking Drake despite having never met the Canadian. Fans dismissed the soundbites because they were too busy not giving a damn about the opinions of some drug addicted rapper who had fallen off years ago. Him getting caught trying to smuggle drugs into prison didn’t win him any fans either.

By the time July came around, Simmons had turned over a new leaf. He was released from prison and was looking forward to seeing his children. X was mulling over quite a few deals that landed on his plate. There was talk of a video game, a tour of small club venues, and a new album on the horizon featuring production from Swizz Beats and Dame Grease. He even teamed with Busta Rhymes for an “Otis” freestyle. Minus the hiccup of being arrested again in August for reckless driving and driving with a suspended license, Earl Simmons was back on the right track.

DMX made an appearance at the BET Hip-Hop Awards with Swizz Beats and looked like the rapper we remember from the late 90s. He told TMZ he had finally kicked his cocaine habit. “Everyone was taking advantage of me with my finances, trying to put me in the direction to fail. I have 10 kids, DMX stated, “I have to drive them in the right direction, so I let the cocaine go.” He put down the nose candy and picked up a new habit–cleaning.

In recent months, X was caught on camera mopping the floor at a Waffle House in South Carolina because the employee was such a huge fan of his. “I was in a good mood and felt that I would do that for him since it was 4am and [the employee] had been working all night,” he said.

DMX didn’t get his fill of the blue collar lifestyle because a week later, cameras caught him vacuuming a nightclub. X told TMZ, “Broom, vacuum, mop, whatever … it’s a rewarding experience. What can I say? I like clean sh*t and the supplies were available.”

Since then the gruff voiced rapper has remained on the straight and narrow. Just the other day, The Urban Daily posted video of Earl Simmons playing basketball in a wheelchair with injured soldiers.

As we close out 2011, let’s raise a glass to DMX staying on the right side of the law, not relapsing with those white lines, and making music that adds to his catalogue nicely. Cheers! On second thought, let’s not raise a glass to that because if he gets caught with an alcohol filled Solo cup again, it’s a complete wrap for his life as a free man. Drinking is a violation of his parole.

DMX is very modest. It’s a good thing when you can come out rehabilitated. Prison corrupts most people. I’m happy for him. You gotta do community service, I’ve been doing it for years.

Whitney has been in an out of rehab and was last noted as being admitted to out-patient treatment. Whitney revealed the extent of her and Bobby’s drug problems on a 2-day interview with Oprah where she said “I had so much money and so much access to what I wanted, I didn’t think about the singing part anymore. I was looking for my young womanhood.” Whitney says Bobby even spit in her face while under the influence while Bobbi Kristina watched!

4. Soulja Boy Tell’ Em

Drug: Cocaine

A run-in with groupie extraordinaire Kat Stacks exposed Soulja Boy’s dangerous Coke Habit. Stacks secretly video-taped Soulja Boy Tell’ Em’s  hotel room, where lines of Coccaine were on the dresser. Soulja Boy even admits to being warned by his father at an early age about drugs “My Dad was on me heavy about drugs. He found a little sack in my bedroom, but it wasn’t from drugs. They came from some earrings that I bought. He and my stepmother kept asking if I do drugs. So I finally just said, ‘Look, I rap. I’ma be a famous rapper. My name’s Soulja Boy.’ And started showing them everything I was doing on the Internet– my MySpace page and everything.” said Soulja Boy to SOHH.com

5.Slick Em’

Drug: Cocaine

Slick’ Em was kicked out of group Pretty Ricky after video surfaced on WSHH of him snorting lines of coke in a Hotel room. Since, Slick Em’ has been rumored to be dating Keyshia Cole’s mother Frankie who also is a substance abuser.

6.Michael Jackson

Drug: Propofol

The King Of Pop, Michael Jackson, died on June 25, 2009 after a he was failed to be resuscitated due to going into cardiac arrest after a Propofol intoxication. The autopsy report suggested that Michael was killed by then doctor Conrad Murray who gave MJ the lethal doses of Midazolam, Diazepam, Lidocaine and Ephedrine. Michael’s death opened the flood gates to many problems he had been suffering from including: chronically inflamed lungs and that his arms and legs were covered with puncture wounds.  Michael was also confirmed to be emaciated and weighed only 136 pounds at his time of death.

DMX was recently released from jail after serving a little over a year for violating his probation after using drugs. At one point DMX was once moved to the Mental Health unit of the Arizona State prison.  Since his emergence in the late 90′s DMX has gone to jail seven times for drug related charges.

Bruno Mars was charged with felony drug possession after being caught with 2.6 grams of cocaine in a Hard Rock Cafe bathroom. The singer/song-writeravoided jail-time after a plea deal in February of 2011. He was slapped with a “deferred adjudication.” The charge would be taken off his record.

Hollywood starlet Lindsey Lohan was sentenced on June 6, 2010 to serve 90 days in jail after violating her probation after a DUI charge among other drug related charges.  After only serving 14 days, the judge ordered Lindsay to go to inpatient rehab!. In an interview with The UK’s Sun Lindsey said this about her trouble with cocaine “I was only aware of cocaine because of my dad. I was terrified of it. But I tried it because I was stubborn, stupid, and wanted to see what it was like. It’s not something I ever want to do again. It made me feel like s***. It became uninteresting to me. I’m hyper anyway and I have that kind of personality so I don’t need something like that.”

“Earl has a new album about to be released, a new video game, touring opportunities, even a new reality show,” says Ms. Walker, the CEO of Built For War Management.  “He is signed to United Music & Media, a division of WEA, the video game prototype was done by Mojo Bone Studios, and as soon as he gets out, I have a production crew who will fly out to Arizona ready to begin production on his new TV series. There are millions of dollars on the table for him…”

Walker says DMX has been working on the album over the past year while in and out of jail and that the record is 85% complete. “Swizz Beatz and Dame Grease have produced it. Scott Storch and Tyrese have also been involved.”  The lead single, “Y’all Don’t Really Know” is produced by Swizz and features Busta Rhymes.

Walker fears many of these plans will be on hold however, until X can get clear of his legal issues.

“It’s likely DMX will remain incarcerated until August 25, but he may also face additional charges. X has a disease and that’s all his incarceration is about.  He has not hurt anybody but himself and his family in years.”

The old Def Jam?

Exactly. Where when you went to the office, you could hear music coming out of every office. When they were hungry looking for music and listening to music and actually paid attention to what people wanted and what people had to offer. When I left there I was like wow, this is strange. A bunch of interns in the offices. It was so quiet that it was eerie. So I walk around the office to see what they’re doing, and one person was doing their laundry online. This doesn’t feel like a record label. This feels like a fucking law office or something.

So what really went wrong there?
I have a few inside people who confirmed my suspicions that they were trying to make me leave. Like ‘Yeah they just wanna get you out of there. ‘ That way they can do what they wanna do and this , that, and the other. If you remember, Jay quit. He retired from rapping. But he became president of Def Jam.  He gave me the call, he called me personally. So I’m like ‘yeah that’s wassup! My mans is in a position now, he’s the president of the label I’m on, we good! Next thing you know, he’s out of retirement and I’m off the label. What a coincidence.

Damn. Have you even been able to have a conversation with Jay after that? I remember when it happened.
I’ve not talked to him yet, since. But I had a show November 18^th, before I got locked up–No November 12^th I had the show. And somebody in the crowd was like ‘What’s up with Jay-Z’ and I was like ‘Fuck Jay-Z’. And it ended up all over the place. So he called Swizz, Swizz called me, and he tells Swizz ‘Yoo, why your man dissin me? I was gonna do a song with him’—Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Fucking bullshit. I don’t wanna hear that shit. And like ‘Yo, can you just get him to say he ain’t mean it’—NO! I’m not saying that. What I did say is if he wanna talk to me, I’m man enough to let him know why it’s ‘Fuck You’, but it’s still ‘Fuck You’! That’s what it is. I’ll let you know why, I can do that. It ain’t like you gotta worry about me running up on you shooting you. It ain’t that serious. You don’t owe me nothing. But if you want an explanation as to why it’s ‘Fuck You’, I’ll be more than happy to tell you why.

So the riff between you and Jay is actually a personal matter? I know a lot fans over the years were really curious to know if you and Jay were actually real life friends.
We were real good friends. He came down and heard the album, was like ‘Yeah, that’s wassup. The album’s hot. When you shoot the video?’ Directly after that he started doing some funny shit. You know, that night we went out and shot pool together. He could call me anytime. He called me one time in New York like ‘Yo I want you to come hear this Beans joint.’ I jumped in my truck. I’m a free spirit. I’m not running around with 10 people all the time. I drove down there. I lived in Upstate New York, Mount Kisco and shit. So I jumped in the Suburban, flew down there, ‘What’s up nigga? I’m here for you. That’s how I get down. We played pool there, we hung out in the studio. We ain’t get no work done, but we had a good time. Our birthdays are like a few days apart. So we had a lot in common. And the thing that’s crazy about us is our relationship was a real relationship. Because initially, I didn’t like him and he didn’t like me, so we began to battle. And the battle was like maybe 91 or 92. When he was with Original Flavor.

On top of the pool tables and all of that.
Exactly. In the pool hall in the Bronx. So we had history So it took years for us to get to the point where we were cordial. And we owe that to Irv Gotti. Irv was his man and Irv was my man. I had to tell Irv ‘Yo let me know when he got a show, so I can battle him again.’ Cause I wasn’t trying to kill him or nothing. It wasn’t beef. But I wanted to let him know that you can’t fuck with me, no matter how nice you think you are. And that was only for a few years. We realized what it really was. It was just some battle shit. We realized when you’re young like that you sometimes mistake when you battle somebody for beef. But we realized, there’s no beef involved. I don’t even know you to not like you.  We earned each other’s friendship. And we became good friends. We wasn’t hanging out all the time—we two different type of niggas. But you know, if I see him somewhere we hang out.

Something DMX doesn’t normally do with every single artist.
Yeah, cause I don’t fuck with too many artists.

That’s what I mean.
I fuck with Swizz Beatz. I fuck with Nas, I fuck with Busta, Cam, Ghostface, Raekwon—if we see each other somewhere, we hanging out. I’m like ‘Yo where you going’ or if they ain’t doing nothing they’ll roll with me and if I ain’t doing nothing I’ll roll with them, that type of shit.

4/20 was started back in the 70′s by some kids who would meet at 4:20 pm by the Louis Pasteur statue outside their school and search around for the cannabis plants that grew wildly over there. After finding some cannabis they used it to “blaze it up.” Somehow it evolved into a national celebration for cannabis lovers. From what I hear when people used to go to Central Park, they(I don’t know who “they” are) would drop marijuana from the sky (funny right).

Other names for marijuana: piff, kush, weed, chronic, haze, drough, sour diese, etc.

HipHopDX spoke to three people who were at the battle: Ski Beatz, Sauce Money, and Ruff Ryders co-founder Waah Dean.  The three men, to the best of their ability, gave an inside look into a battle of two of the 90s greatest emcees.

Waah Dean: We did [the battle] on neutral grounds. Instead of doing it in Brooklyn or Yonkers, we did it in the Bronx.

Ski Beatz: When I rolled up, I was with Dame Dash, Tone Hooker, Jay-Z, and I think some of Dame’s people from Harlem—his crew called The Best Out. That was the name of his crew, from Harlem. I think Dame set [the battle] up. It was like a Brooklyn-Uptown/Harlem kind of thing. So we all met at the pool hall, in the Bronx.

Waah Dean: We heard some things about Jay-Z from Brooklyn, and from Dame, and we’d bump heads with their people every now and again. The word was out that we had these guys that was doing similar things—traveling to different areas and [battling]—so we knew in a matter of time we was gonna be in a place where somebody was gonna make the phone call, and say, ‘Yeah, we got this guy standing here, and they all wanna be here…’ and that happened. So we knew what was up. We didn’t really look for anybody, we just dealt with the situation as it was there. We knew [DMX] was one of the best, one of the greatest, so we wasn’t worried about no artist coming after him.

Sauce Money: Everybody who battled, I think it was myself, there might’ve been a girl—we had a girl, her name was Roughness—and T-Strong, and Jay. We had to get on top of the pool tables, so whoever’s battling, they’re standing on the pool table, going at it.

Waah Dean: There was no room in the building to stand at, so the only way to do it was to stand on the pool tables so everybody could see.

Sauce Money: The pool table was like a boxing ring. We were standing on opposite sides of the pool table going back-and-forth. While we were rapping, n*ggas were pulling out guns—all kinds of crazy sh*t.

Ski Beatz: People came in there strapped; people from the Bronx had guns, and people from Harlem had guns. Luckily it didn’t go down like that, but the atmosphere was Hip Hop, [and] at the same time, it was gangsta.

He was sentenced on December 16th to a year in jail for a probation violation.  At his sentencing, Judge Christine Mulleneaux said that she believes he has “an undiagnosed mental condition.”

According to the Phoenix New Times, DMX’s manager, Nakia Walker, wouldn’t comment  on whether DMX might have a mental disorder, but  says she wasn’t surprised when she learned that he was being moved to a mental health unit.

Hip-Hop star DMX will end 2010 with a year-long prison term, as the rapper’s probation was officially revoked in Arizona today (December 16th).

The Maricopa County Superior Court revoked the rap star’s probation from 2009, stemming from a conviction on fraud charges, identity theft, assault and a variety of other misdemeanor charges.

DMX tested positive for cocaine and oxycontin and admitted to using drinking alcohol, another violating of the terms of his probation.

In other unfortunate hip-hop news rapper Gucci Mane was arrested during a raid of  rapper Waka Flocka Flame’s house  this morning. Authorities were in search of drugs, and reports of prostitution.

Waka’s mother, Debra Antney, told TMZ.com that a number of Henry County, police officers raided the rapper’s house and handcuffed Gucci Mane, who heads up the 1017 Bricksquad imprint.

Top 5 Reasons Why DMX Should Stay Incarcerated [AUDIO]

Reminisce with us as we go down a list of some of the folks that we hope didn’t drop the soap this year.

T.I.

T.I. probably had the worst year when it comes to being in jail.  After serving a jail sentence on federal weapons charges, T.I was released from a halfway house on March 26th and put on  probation.  However on September 1st, T.I. was arrested again after the driver of his car made an illegal u-turn.  Police searched the vehicle and found drugs in the car.

T.I. went back to jail on November 1st to serve an 11 month sentence.

Lil’ Wayne

Weezy did a bid on Rikers Island from March 8 to November 4th on weapons charges.  During his time in the clink, Weezy managed to release several music videos that he shot before going in, as well as the I Am Not A Human Being album.

DMX

DMX was in and out of jail this year. In March, he went in for violating his probation. After being released in July, he went back to jail three weeks later on a reckless driving charge for 90 days.  On November 19th, he was arrested for violating his probation again.

Suge Knight

The former Death Row Records head was arrested for driving with a suspended license in early December, but earlier in the year, Suge was nabbed by police for ordering a hit on a man.

Foxy Brown

Foxy Brown was arrested this summer after violating a protective order placed on her by her neighbor, Arlene Richmond.  Richmond claimed that Foxy yelled at her and mooned her.

Wiz Khalifa

The “Black and Yellow” rapper was busted in November after police found a sizable amount of marijuana on his tourbus.  He was charged with possession and trafficking.

Jae Millz

The Young Money rapper was arrested in May after his girlfriend called the cops on him during an argument.  Police found that Millz was in possession of marijuana.

Kid Cudi

The Cudster was arrested on June 11th in New York and charged with felony criminal mischief and possession of a controlled substance after police were called in response to a disturbance involving Cudi and an unidentified woman.  Cudi later admitted that the controlled substance he was caught with was cocaine.

Ice T

Though he plays a cop on Law & Order, Ice T found himself on the wrong side of the law in July when he was arrested for driving with expired auto insurance. The charge was later dismissed.

Too $hort

The Bay Area hip-hop legend was arrested and charged with three counts of misdemeanor battery in July after a scuffle in an Idaho concert venue.

Petey Pablo

Petey Pablo found himself in serious trouble on September 11th when he was arrested at Raleigh-Durham International Airport after airport security found a gun in his carry-on luggage.

Juvenile

In February, Juvenile was arrested at his home after police responded to a call from his neighbors complaining about the smell of marijuana coming from the home.

Flesh-N-Bone of Bone Thugz N Harmony

In March, the Bone Thugz member was arrested during a concert in the group’s hometown of Cleveland on warrants for felonious assault with a firearm, and domestic violence.

Karriem “Biggs” Burke

The co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records was arrested in October, along with 43 other people, on federal drug charges.

Khia

The raunchy female rapper was arrested in September for “endangering security interests.”

According to reports, DMX was granted a continuance at the probation hearing, but he will remain jailed until at least his next court date, which has been set for December 16th, raising hopes that he may be home in time for Christmas.

DMX, born Earl Simmons, was arrested on November 18th at his home in Cave Creek, Arizona.

According to the Phoenix New Times, the 39-year-old rapper was charged with violating his probation after he allegedly tested positive for alcohol, cocaine and Oxycontin.

Additionally, DMX allegedly failed to get the required drug testing and counseling. DMX was also charged with driving on a suspended license.

According to Allhiphop.com the candidate for the most arrests by a rapper  was tagged in the Maricopa County section of Phoenix on Thursday for a parole violation and jailed. This is the sixth arrest in Maricopa County alone for DMX.

According to several sources X was cited for possession of Cocaine, Oxycontin without a prescription and driving with a suspended license.

The troubled MC was working his way back into the public eye for something other than arrests. Just last week he performed in Scottsdale, Arizona where he proclaimed “F*ck the industry and f*ck Jay-Z.”

That statement alone must have made his producer Swizz Beatz very uncomfortable, who just released a song with X call “Ya’ll Don’t Know” but is a frequent collaborator with Hov.
