<p></p>
<p>Last night at the BET Awards, <a href="http://theurbandaily.com/tv/cnns-don-lemon-enjoys-success-during-obamas-reign/" target="_self">CNN&#8217;s Don Lemon</a> interviewed Joe Jackson about the death of his son. In typical Joe Jackson fashion, the man answered Lemon&#8217;s questions with abrupt, detached answers&#8230; even going so far as to pass the mic to his spokesperson and attorney and then promoted his record company.</p>
<p>WTF?!</p>
<p>Jackson wasn&#8217;t in line with daughter Janet&#8217;s feelings and the rest of the world as his answers were strange right off the bat: Lemon asks him how he&#8217;s doing and Jackson responds, &#8220;<em>great, I&#8217;m doing pretty good</em>,&#8221; which seems peculiar given the timing of when he lost his son.</p>
<p>&#8220;<em>It has been really tough. Remember, we just lost the biggest star in the world</em>,&#8221; Jackson concluded. He&#8217;s your son, I say&#8230;</p>
<p>With the press, understandably, running to Jackson&#8217;s parents to hear and share condolences and obtain insight on <a href="http://theurbandaily.com/music/download-the-best-michael-jackson-mixtape-ever/" target="_self">Michael and his legacy</a>, the person who showed up on the red carpet seemed to be a distant father. No traces of shock or grief, but you can check out the video and see for yourself.</p>
<p>The one thing that&#8217;s consistent with all of this though is that his art of promotion definitely seems to be intact.</p>

<p></p>
<p>Congratulations to the <a href="http://newsone.com/nation/pittsburgh-steelers-win-6th-nfl-title/" target="_self"><strong>Pittsburgh Steelers</strong></a> on their win over the <strong>Arizona Cardinals.</strong> How about that Santonio Holmes, huh? Yours truly is a <a href="http://www.dawgbones.com/" target="_blank">Cleveland Browns fan</a>, so my focus is on <a href="http://www.transworldnews.com/NewsStory.aspx?id=74896&amp;cat=6" target="_blank">what&#8217;s going on in the NBA</a>, right now. But with another sagging halftime performance, the attention was placed on the Super Bowl ads.</p>
<p><strong>The Urban Daily</strong> proudly presents its top 5 choices for the best and worst of the Super Bowl spots:</p>
<p><strong>WORST:</strong></p>
<p><strong>5. Conan O&#8217;Brian Ad -</strong></p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="425" height="344" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/cqz9ja5h5y0&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cqz9ja5h5y0&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></p>
<p>Conan showed why <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2zIOx2NYWU" target="_blank">Leno still remains the NBC king of late night</a> with this hodgepodge of corniness. Budweiser may have shelled out some bucks to get Mr. &#8220;Not My Thing&#8221; on camera, but this one failed to start some chatter.</p>
<p><strong>4. McGruber SNL Pepsi Commercial -</strong></p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="425" height="344" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/B0dwWwUbblI&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/B0dwWwUbblI&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></p>
<p>While SNL may have some <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BE2gE-VVjBI" target="_blank">winning sketches during the 2008 Presidential elections</a>, this Super Bowl dud played upon the 80&#8242;s classic television show <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxEq7dy3-Ok" target="_blank"><strong>MacGuyver</strong></a> and ran the joke into the ground. Boo.</p>
<p><strong>3. NBC &#8220;Feelin&#8217; Alright&#8221; Ad -</strong></p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="425" height="344" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jvUYLZF4rN0&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jvUYLZF4rN0&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></p>
<p>Hopefully NBC is &#8220;alright&#8221; with betting the farm on <em>Heroes </em>newest season making up for last one&#8217;s clusterfluck. But applying <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eja_T-KWJ_E" target="_blank">Joe Cocker&#8217;s groovy tunes</a> somehow doesn&#8217;t help to tone down the campy-ness of seeing Parkman (<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0342399/" target="_blank">Greg Gunberg</a>) and Noah Bennett (<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0171059/" target="_blank">Jack Coleman</a>) do a duet.</p>
<p><strong>2. Budweiser Horse Commercial -</strong></p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="425" height="344" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0IMofdVTALE&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0IMofdVTALE&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></p>
<p>This would&#8217;ve been funny, charming and all that&#8230; only <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaewaVqre6o" target="_blank">if they hadn&#8217;t tried the same concept last year</a>.</p>
<p><strong>1. H&amp;R Block &#8216;Death&#8217; Commercial -</strong></p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="425" height="344" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xIpoW0BMrus&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xIpoW0BMrus&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></p>
<p><a href="http://newsone.com/nation/americans-receiving-unemployment-benefits-hit-record/" target="_self">Right now</a>, people ain&#8217;t playing around with money and/or death. So, this was just a bad commentary on the state of the economy. Even <a href="http://twitter.com/donlemoncnn" target="_blank">Don Lemon</a> knows that this ain&#8217;t <a href="http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm163/ClarkKentBKNY/Picture5-1.png" target="_blank">something to make light of</a>.</p>
<p><strong>Dishonorable Mentions:</strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.hulu.com/superbowl/55720/super-bowl-xliii-ads-ge-wind-energy#s-p1-sr-i0" target="_blank">GE &#8216;Wind Energy&#8217; Ad</a> &#8211; </strong>They really ran that ad last year!</p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.hulu.com/superbowl/55612/super-bowl-xliii-ads-etrade-talking-baby#s-p8-sr-i0" target="_blank">E* Trade: Talking Baby</a> &#8211; </strong>This is getting old, <a href="http://thebuddhistblog.blogspot.com/2008/01/is-barack-obama-buddhist.html" target="_blank">not &#8220;inspirational.&#8221;</a></p>

<p>Hollywood trade magazine Variety is pointing out the increased presence of CNN anchor Don Lemon, particularly in the wake of the network&#8217;s election and inauguration coverage.</p>
<p class="MsoPlainText"><span>I</span>n the past weeks, CNN viewers have seen graphics directing viewers to Lemon&#8217;s Facebook page (his authorized page, as opposed to the &#8220;I Want to Marry Don Lemon&#8221; and &#8220;Don Lemon Is the Sh**&#8221; fan groups). He can also be found at LinkedIn, MySpace, Twitter and as a contributor to the network&#8217;s &#8220;Black in America&#8221; blog.</p>
<p class="MsoPlainText"><span></span>&#8220;<em>We think the world of Don</em>,&#8221; says Bart Feder, senior VP of current programming for CNN/U.S. &#8220;<em>There&#8217;s no question that he has a following, and he has a lot of perspective to bring to the table</em>.&#8221;</p>
<p class="MsoPlainText"><span></span>Feder admits that Lemon&#8217;s being young, handsome and African-American in the age of Obama is also part of what he brings.</p>
<p class="MsoPlainText"><span></span>&#8220;<em>One of the goals of the network has been to have many different voices and true diversity of thought</em>,&#8221; he says. &#8220;<em>And adding Don to a panel adds to that, and that&#8217;s a good thing</em>.&#8221;</p>
