Nicole Murphy is rumored to have been experiencing financial trouble since divorcing Eddie Murphy, so she may be doing the show simply for the check. In addition to being the ex-wife of Eddie Murphy, Nicole is currently engaged to NFL commentator Michael Strahan. Sheree has remarried since divorcing Will Smith, and she’s now a pastor’s wife and known as Sheree Fletcher.

Eddie Murphy is prepping to play former Washington, DC mayor Marion Barry in a drama to be directed by Spike Lee. Barry had two runs as mayor of DC from 1979-1991 and from 1995-1999, and made national news when he was caught smoking crack cocaine in 1990. Despite the scandal, Barry was able to get reelected after running with the slogan, “He May Not Be Perfect, But He’s Perfect for D.C.”

The news about Eddie Murphy hosting the Academy Awards was well-received, but he will no longer be the master of ceremonies of the 2012 Oscars. Murphy made his unfortunate resignation after Brett Ratner, the producer of the annual event, stepped down yesterday (November 8th). Since Ratner hired Murphy to host the Academy Awards, some expected Murphy to follow suit.

Ratner used a disparaging homosexual slur recently, and resigned from his post after many expressed offense and outrage at his word choice. He also offended many by discussing sex with media outlets while promoting his new film Tower Heist. Find out the rest of the story right here.

According to HumorMillmag.com, Eddie Murphy is confirmed to host the 84th Academy Awards in February of 2012. While Hollywood doesn’t seem interested in balancing the lack of Black representation on the big screen, the Academy is happy to have us host the awards show.

The Oscars will be the first time Murphy has taken the stage to perform any kind of stand-up in over twenty years. He is currently starring in the up-coming movie Tower Heist, Directed by Brett Ratner. Ratner is reported to be producing the Awards as well.

The last African-American to host the Oscars was Chris Rock in 2004. Whoopi Goldberg has hosted four Oscars with her last being in 2001.

Eddie Murphy and Ben Stiller lead an all star cast in the upcoming comedy, Tower Heist. When Wall Street tycoon Arthur Shaw (Alan Alda) is put under house arrest for stealing billions of dollars from his investors, the staff at his luxurious hi-rise condominium band together for revenge after finding out their pensions were lost in Shaw’s Ponzi scheme. Josh Kovacs (Ben Stiller) decides to recruit his childhood buddy Slide (Murphy) to plan a heist to reclaim what was taken from them. Gabourey Sidibe plays Odessa Montero, a housekeeper who has her eye on her money–and Slide.

Tower Heist opens in theaters November 4th

Comedian/actor/host Kevin Hart’s 90-city concert tour is said to be one of the most successful in history, surpassing Eddie Murphy’s early accomplishments with over $15 million in ticket sales. The stand-up performances are now being made into a feature-length film titled Laugh At My Pain.

The film documents Hart’s two-day performance at the Nokia Theatre in L.A. and includes a trip back to Hart’s home town of Philadelphia.

Codeblack Entertainment is handling the film’s release and it will be distributed exclusively in AMC theaters across the country beginning on September 9th, 2011.

Mister Cee was also one of his clients; and gave him oral sex on numerous occasions. Toni also claims that Eddie Murphy likes a big penis and likes nothing less!

Toni Newman is a published author and has a BA degree from Wake Forest University…

Eddie Murphy will be honored with the “Comedy Icon Award” at the inaugural Comedy Awards to air on April 10th on Comedy Central and many other Viacom owned networks.

“Eddie Murphy’s impact in the world of comedy is immeasurable,” Casey Patterson, an executive producer at MTV Networks Entertainment Group, said in a released statement.

“From the characters he created on ‘SNL,’ to his groundbreaking stand-up performances and unforgettable film roles, Murphy changed the game forever.”

The show will air on Comedy Central, Nick At Nite, Spike, CMT, TV Land, and Logo. (Ed. Note – We fully anticipate the gay community being disappointed in Logo for airing the show in light of Murphy’s notoriously homophobic stand-up routines…)

The Roots will serve as the house band for the awards ceremony. Appearances from Craig Robinson, Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig and Tracy Morgan are expected.

Twitter should be arrested for the amount of people it kills every year. After “taking” the life of Morgan Freeman several weeks ago the social network was buzzing with news of comedian and actor Eddie Murphy dying in a ski accident.

The awful rumor surfaces almost every year and for some reason people keep believing it. A google search for “Eddie Murphy dead” calls up “reports” going back to 2009.

The popularity of rumors makes real reports harder to decipher. Just this week Twitter users didn’t know whether to believe it when Ron Isley wrote that R&B star Teena Marie died and fans went into a panic when premature announcements of Aretha Franklin’s passing became popular.

Unfortunately, there are sites like Fakeawish.com that are dedicated to spreading rumors of a celebrity’s death.

As of right now Eddie Murphy is alive. If that fact changes we will let you know. Until then let that man live.

Over the years we’ve seen more than our fair share of movies aimed towards the black audience.

We’ve seen the musical, the horror film, the drama, the comedy, the spoof, the erotic thriller, the action film, and so on.

So now we knew it was time to pull together an all-time list. So for the past few months, we scoured the web, pulled out all the DVDs, even dusted off some old VHS tapes, and came up with our Top 9 Classic Moments In Black Movie History. There are moments you may love, moments you hate, and some you may not have ever seen before. But they’re all classic to us.

9. Lean On Me (1989)

Morgan Freeman’s take on real life school principal Joe Clark in the film Lean On Me helped propel Freeman to Hollywood stardom.

In this classic scene from Lean On Me, Freeman confronts a troublemaking student who Clark learns has a crack problem.

“Do it expeditiously!”

8. Boyz N The Hood (1991)

John Singleton’s directorial debut made him the talk of Hollywood and helped launch the acting careers of both Ice Cube and Cuba Gooding, Jr.

The gritty tale of life in South Central Los Angeles was a hit nationwide and earned Singleton an Oscar nomination for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.

One of the most memorable scenes in the movie is the pivotal scene where *SPOILER ALERT* Ricky, played by Morris Chestnut, is gunned down.

7. Harlem Nights (1989)

Harlem Nights had all the makings of a blockbuster film — an all star cast including Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx, Arsenio Hall, Della Reese, Jasmine Guy, and Danny Aiello, but ultimately theater goers were disappointed by the film.

The film fared much better in the home video market where it became a cult classic. Though it’s full of great quotables (the whole “Sunshine” sequence), the most memorable scene in the film has to be the fight between Eddie Murphy and Della Reese.

This clip contains a lot of fussin’ and cussin’. If that ain’t your thing, you do realize you’re on the internet, right?

6. Wattstax (1973)

Wattstax, documented a 1972 concert in Los Angeles featuring some of the largest acts in soul music. The film also consisted of several compelling interviews with people in the Watts neighborhood talking about the black experience.

While the concert performances are amazing in their own right, those interviews are some of the most memorable momemnts. Particularly this sequence about the relationship between black men and black women.

You would be hard pressed to get a bunch of black men and women to speak this highly of each other in in 2010.

5. Willie Dynamite (197?)

One of the most memorable scenes in the cult classic blaxploitation film Willie Dynamite is the “Pimp Council” scene. All of the major players in the city meet to discuss their future as pimps. The head of the council, Bell (portrayed by Roger Robinson), gives an overly dramatic speech about how they need to unite to survive the pressure they’re getting from the police.

“You gotta have VISION!!!”

FYI, the titular character in the movie is played by Roscoe Orman, who would later be known for playing Gordon on “Sesame Street.”

4. Don’t Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood (1996)

One of our favorite Bernie Mac moments is his cameo appearance as Officer Self Hatred in the Wayans Bros. film Don’t Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood.

“I hate the back of Forrest Whittaker’s neck!”

3. Hollywood Shuffle (1987)

In his directorial debut, Robert Townsend brilliantly skewered Hollywood’s treatment of African-American actors, most notably in the “Black Acting School” segment of the film.

2. Under The Cherry Moon (1986)

Though it was a critical and commercial failure upon release, Prince’s second film had it’s moments of brilliance.

The film’s most memorable scene involves Prince’s character and Jerome Benton’s character trying to bring Christopher’s spoiled rich girl love interest, future Oscar winner Kristin Scott Thomas in her first film role, “down to our world” by giving her a crash course in ebonics.

1. The Color Purple (1985)

This film really needs no introduction. And neither does this clip.

6 Black Horror Films For You To Rent This Halloween

With Halloween just around the corner, ’tis the season for a good scary movie.

While we’re sure you could go watch the latest installment in the Saw franchise, or watch some of the “standards” like Texas Chainsaw Massacre or the Friday The 13th series, we’d like to suggest you rent some of these horror films with predominantly black casts!

Blacula (1972)

William Marshall stars in this blaxploitation film as Prince Mamuwalde, the leader of an African nation. He reaches out to Count Dracula to help stop the slave trade, but the count is revealed to be rather racist. The count converts Mamuwalde into a vampire and gives him the name “Blacula.” Fast forward 200 years later and “Blacula” is still alive and unleashed into the world after a coffin he was sealed in is opened.

Def By Temptation (1990)

Produced by legendary low-budget indie film studio Troma Films, Def By Temptation stars Kadeem “Dwayne Wayne” Hardison and Bill Nunn as a pair of vampire hunters who are after a female vampire who is killing men around the city. This hilariously so-bad-it’s-great movie also features cameo appearances by singers Melba Moore and Freddie Jackson.

Tales From The Hood (1995)

This film features Clarence “Linc from the Mod Squad” Williams III as a storytelling funeral director who tells four frightening tales about four of his recent customers to three young thugs looking to buy drugs from him. Needless to say, the funeral director isn’t exactly who he says he is…

Candyman (1992)

By definition, Candyman isn’t exactly a “black horror film,” but the fact that the title character happens to be black warrants it a place on the list. The film is about an urban legend concerning a character named “Candyman” who you can summon by saying his name five times in front of a mirror. The only downside is that if you do that, he’ll kill you. So we don’t really know why anyone would want to run the risk of getting killed over something like that. Despite that, Candyman was a critical and box office success and spawned two sequels.

Vampire In Brooklyn (1995)
Eddie Murphy and Angela Bassett starred in this horror/comedy film directed by horror film legend Wes Craven. Murphy plays the titular role in this film that’s bigger on laughs than it is on scary moments. Long considered one of Murphy’s worst films (at least until Pluto Nash and Norbit came around), the film actually did well in the box office and got moderate reviews.

Blackenstein (1973)

We actually haven’t seen Blackenstein yet, but based on the trailer, we just might have to indulge. Obviously a retelling of Mary Shelley’s classic Frankenstein, but with a black cast, the film was made after the success of Blacula but failed at box offices.

We don’t understand how that’s possible when the tag line of your film is “To stop this brother takes one bad mother!”

Will Eddie Murphy Make A Black ‘Ocean’s 11′?!

As we previously reported several months ago, the black version of Ocean’s 11 is looking like its coming to the big screen, as it’s tentatively titled The Trump Heist.

We discovered today that the films producers are moving one step closer to making this film a reality. We hear that the film’s producers are preparing to make offers to stars Eddie Murphy, Chris Tucker, Chris Rock, Cedric The Entertainer, Dave Chappelle and Mike Epps just to name a few.

We also hear that Director Brett Ratner is still attached to the film and preparations are for this film to start pre-production at the end of the summer with hopes for the film to be out early next year.

Eddie Murphy Doesn’t Love The Babies?!

According to the homie, Perez Hilton, Eddie Murphy has a bad case of the runs:

“Former Spice Girl, Mel B., gave birth to her adorable baby girl Angel almost two years ago. The babydaddy is “funnyman” Eddie Murphy.

However, there’s nothing funny about the fact that Eddie has never met his daughter.

According to OK!, a friend of Murphy’s says, “To see the kid, he’d have to see the mother. Maybe when she’s older, Eddie will see Angel, but not now.”

Murphy has seven other kids, 5 from his ex-wife and the other 2 from another ex.

Does he make time to see all of them?”

Murphy currently has seven other kids… Five of them from his ex-wife (Strahan’s booski) and two from another ex. Somebody sure gets around!
