Read more..]]> The Urban Daily sports blogger Jamiyl Samuels aims to show Black fathers in a positive light with his upcoming book.
“Pass The Torch: How A Young Black Father Challenges the ‘Deadbeat Dad’ Stereotype” tackles the hot-button issue of fatherhood in the Black community and the affect the lack of a father figure has on young Black males. Disturbed by the negative and stereotypical portrayal of young Black fathers in the media, Samuels speaks from his own personal experiences growing up without a father and draws a parallel to the equally criticized world of Hip Hop whose artists mostly came from broken homes, but rose from their rough upbringing to break the cycle of abandonment with their own children. 
“Pass The Torch” praises Black fathers who do right by their children and offers a fresh perspective on a controversial issue.
“Pass The Torch” will be released through Samuels’ own W.R.E.a.C Havoc Publishing imprint via Createspace.com and Amazon.com in the near future.

Ne-Yo sat down with Cleveland’s Z107.9 to give an exclusive interview for HelloBeautiful, where he discussed everything including  the first time he met Michael Jackson, why he won’t listen to his own music, the nagging questions about his  sexuality and why he chose to have a baby with Monyetta Shaw.

“I am not engaged to be married, but I am going to have a baby with my best friend,” he said in the interview. “If you don’t believe that I’m straight that’s a problem for you, not for me. Ya’ll go ahead and think what you want to think.”

When Chicago MC Rhymefest came to our offices to discuss his up-coming album El Che, part of our conversation steered to our sons and the issues and concerns we’ve had raising them. So in this first part of our interview (which covered everything from Wacka Flacka and infidelity to Comic Books and Obama ) Rhymefest shared how he rescued his son from a mental hospital and obtained full custody of him.

With Christmas around the corner, comic Chris Rock’s daughters have a tall order on their wish list – a visit to the White House.

“His girls are a little older than mine,” Rock told People.com about President-elect Barack Obama’s daughters Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7. “My girls want a playdate. They look at the youngest and they’re like, ‘We can play with her, Daddy.’ We’ll see.”

This past summer Chris Rock introduced Barack Obama at the Apollo Theatre and in his most recent stand-up, Kill The Messenger, Rock was very vocal in his support of President-Elect Barack Obama but did have some fun with his name.

“In America that’s as Black as a name can get,” he told a South African crowd. “Barack don’t let his Blackness sneak up on you…you expect to see a brother with a spear standing on top of a dead lion…” Check the clip below (while you still can).
