Jeffrey “Ja Rule” Atkins is currently serving a two-year prison sentence for gun possession and tax evasion. However, he is making the most of his time behind bars. In fact, he’s actually made friends.

The Illuminati conspirators are sure to have a field day with the revelation that disgraced politician Alan Hevesi and corporate greed poster-boy Dennis Kozlowski have taken Rule under their wing, even giving him stock tips. So much for hard time.

“Outside, you don’t meet guys like this every day. This place is amazing,” Ja Rule told the Daily News during an exclusive interview at Mid-State Correctional Facility in upstate Oneida, N.Y.

In another episode of “self-fulfilling rap names” YMCB’s Cory Gunz was arrested in the Bronx on weapons possession charges.

Cory’s father Peter Gunz of “Deja Vu” fame confirmed the arrest with MTV.com and said that it was an illegal search.

“The details are still sketchy, but I can confirm that he was arrested with a firearm yesterday in the Bronx,” Gunz told MTV News. “They caught him around 2p.m. in the afternoon with a loaded gun in his knapsack.”

After returning home from jail Cory Tweeted to his fans that he we was sorry for letting them down.

“I apologize to all of my Supporters, Friends and Family,” he wrote. “Things Happen, No excuses. My only regret is letting ya’ll down… Peace.”

Multi-platinum rapper DMX started 2011 as most of his detractors assumed he would–behind bars. After being arrested for downing an alcoholic beverage at one of his shows, Earl Simmons was sentenced to a year in prison. Evidently, DMX didn’t understand that drinking in public while on parole is not the smartest idea. For the majority of the past twelve months he was still acting out negatively and believing he wouldn’t be reprimanded.

While still locked underneath the jail, Simmons gave an interview to Vibe Magazine where he was quoted saying, “F**k Jay-Z!” Apparently, Jay-Z had been hitting X with the extreme fade in recent years. The Yonkers bred rhyme slinger also commented on not liking Drake despite having never met the Canadian. Fans dismissed the soundbites because they were too busy not giving a damn about the opinions of some drug addicted rapper who had fallen off years ago. Him getting caught trying to smuggle drugs into prison didn’t win him any fans either.

By the time July came around, Simmons had turned over a new leaf. He was released from prison and was looking forward to seeing his children. X was mulling over quite a few deals that landed on his plate. There was talk of a video game, a tour of small club venues, and a new album on the horizon featuring production from Swizz Beats and Dame Grease. He even teamed with Busta Rhymes for an “Otis” freestyle. Minus the hiccup of being arrested again in August for reckless driving and driving with a suspended license, Earl Simmons was back on the right track.

DMX made an appearance at the BET Hip-Hop Awards with Swizz Beats and looked like the rapper we remember from the late 90s. He told TMZ he had finally kicked his cocaine habit. “Everyone was taking advantage of me with my finances, trying to put me in the direction to fail. I have 10 kids, DMX stated, “I have to drive them in the right direction, so I let the cocaine go.” He put down the nose candy and picked up a new habit–cleaning.

In recent months, X was caught on camera mopping the floor at a Waffle House in South Carolina because the employee was such a huge fan of his. “I was in a good mood and felt that I would do that for him since it was 4am and [the employee] had been working all night,” he said.

DMX didn’t get his fill of the blue collar lifestyle because a week later, cameras caught him vacuuming a nightclub. X told TMZ, “Broom, vacuum, mop, whatever … it’s a rewarding experience. What can I say? I like clean sh*t and the supplies were available.”

Since then the gruff voiced rapper has remained on the straight and narrow. Just the other day, The Urban Daily posted video of Earl Simmons playing basketball in a wheelchair with injured soldiers.

As we close out 2011, let’s raise a glass to DMX staying on the right side of the law, not relapsing with those white lines, and making music that adds to his catalogue nicely. Cheers! On second thought, let’s not raise a glass to that because if he gets caught with an alcohol filled Solo cup again, it’s a complete wrap for his life as a free man. Drinking is a violation of his parole.

DMX is very modest. It’s a good thing when you can come out rehabilitated. Prison corrupts most people. I’m happy for him. You gotta do community service, I’ve been doing it for years.

Rapper 40 Glocc Arrested In Vegas For Allegedly Strangling Girlfriend

Rapper 40 Glocc — once signed to 50 Cent’s G-Unit record label — was arrested in Vegas after cops say he choked his girlfriend three different times in the same day.

According to the police report obtained by TMZ, 40 Glocc — real name Lawrence White — was arrested on October 3rd … after he allegedly unleashed a brutal beating on the woman.

Cops say 40 Glocc accused his GF of “playing him” — so he hit her several times about the head, face, legs and rib area … and choked her to the point where she “could not speak or breathe.”

In the report, the GF claims Glocc strangled her twice more before falling asleep — at which point, she snuck away and called 911.

My first night here was crazy inmates screaming, banging, and kicking the doors calling the male CO’s b*tch ass niggas & f*ggots telling the female CO’s how they gonna f*ck em, throwing plates of food out their cells onto the floor LOL. WELCOME TO THE GREEN MONSTER! This type of sh*t would never happen upstate at best you’d be in the box for a month at worst the infirmary. I even got into it wit these stupid niggas trying to assassinate my character talkin about I’m snitching to the guards and that I’m getting special treatment. I barked on these niggas and set em straight cause as a man there’s only so much you can take before you snap. Loon Reportedly Arrested On Drug Charges

So much for life after Bad Boy. According to DDotomen.com Rapper Loon, born Chauncey Hawkins, now known as Amir Junaid Muhadith, was arrested on drug charges in Belgium. Evidently, Loon was indicted back in May for dealing Heroin in North Carolina from 2006 to 2008. So when news surfaced in 2009 that he had converted to Islam , it appears he may have been on the run seeking asylum Algeria.

Loon began his career as part of the rap group Harlem World and began to make a name for himself as a solo artist on Puff Daddy and Usher’s “I Need a Girl” parts 1 and 2. He released three solo albums for three different labels, Loon, No Friends and Wizard of Harlem.

In what had been an otherwise good day for North Carolina rappers, “Raise Up” rapper Petey Pablo has been sentence to 35 months for possessing a stolen fire arm. Last year Pablo attempted to board a flight in North Carolina on 9/11 with a loaded firearm.

According to the Sacramento Bee, authorities say the gun had been stolen during a home burglary in Gardena, Calif., in 2005.

T.I., has been released from jail for what we hope is the last time. But we also hoped he would stay out after he was released in 2010 and again in August 2011. So instead of just hoping for Tip to stay out of trouble, here are five things we think he can do to stay out of the bing.

Give Him More Guns
In 2007, T.I. was arrested by the feds and charged with two felonies for possession of three unregistered machine guns and two silencers. He was eventually sentenced, and since he was packing so much heat, we can’t help but think that Tip just likes guns. Instead of denying his appetite for weapons, we think it would be a great idea to give him an arsenal of paintball guns, Laser Tag games and Super Soakers to jones on.

Hypnotize Him
If we could hypnotize T.I., we would! While under our mind control we would make him think he’s bulletproof so that he would never feel the need to get guns. We’d just tell him the bulletproof vest is decorative, just ask 50 Cent.

Hire A Reliable Weed Carrier

One of the last times T.I. was arrested he was out making a run for ecstasy and marijuana with the Mrs in his Maybach. This is a baller no-no. No person of his means should be out getting their own stash, especially in a car that costs more than a house. If you can’t find someone to run this errand there needs to be a Mr. Nice Guy franchise started in ATL stat.

Move to Switzerland

The Swiss may have this whole gun thing figured out. While they have no standing army, Swiss men are trained as part of their militia and can keep an automatic weapon in the home. Damn near everyone is strapped so no one is thinking of running up in the next man’s house. As a result, the rate of killings or attempted killings with firearms is about 1 in 250, 000. In Atlanta metro (which is comparable in population to Switzerland) it’s about 34 per 200,000. Not to mention no bank is safer for stashing all of that Paper Trail money.

T.I. may need to surround himself with a more positive and uplifting circle. We suggest he link up with his name-a-like Q-Tip, not only for a potential collabo, but for overall positivity. Notice how ‘Ye has stayed out of trouble since he’s been working closely with Jay on Watch The Throne? We think the same could happen for T.I.! His first single with The Abstract could be a club banger called “Just The Tip.”

Lil Wayne is forbidden from drinking alcohol as part of his three-year probation, so the Young Money CEO is making sure there will be no temptations on his current tour. A rep for his I Am Still Music Tour tells TMZ that his concerts have “a dry backstage as we are committed to keeping a safe and professional atmosphere to ensure a smoothly running tour.” Wayne is supposedly keeping the liquor off of his tour bus as well.

Lil Wayne has good reason to play it cool. In 2008 his tour bus was stopped in Arizona and a search turned up drugs and three fire arms. He served almost a year in prison from the resulting charges.

The fans at the show will be able to drink as much as they wish, but we hope that Weezy is serious about staying clean and leaves the vices alone. Rappers violating probation is way too cliche.

Flav — aka William Jonathan Drayton, Jr. — was pulled over at 10:57 PM Friday night for a routine traffic violation. Louisiana rapper Big Unk insists that his life has never imitated his art. The “Go Hard” rapper was arrested in January of this year and charged with possession of 150 pounds of marijuana. Cops in Beaux Bridge, Louisiana also say they found $500,000 worth of jewelry and $72,000 in cash in his home. However, Unk (not to be confused with DJ Unk from Atlanta) insists he is innocent.

“I was just driving, minding my business and got pulled over, and the things they charged me with is false,” he told TheUrbandaily.com. “I had no marijuana in my possession and no marijuana in my house. They got money and jewelry, that’s correct but as far as the marijuana charge coming out of my house, I never had none of that in my possession what so ever.”

Unfortunately, this was not Unk’s first run in with the law. When he was 17 years old he was arrested and charged with attempted murder and served two and half years in prison. Unk, (real name Reggie Smith) began rapping while incarcerated and has since released several projects including Tolerated But Not Hated. The subject matter of his songs walks along familiar lines of hustling, stacking paper and the “fast life”, themes that make him an easy target for anyone trying to make a case against him.

“I think they probably listen to it and feel like everything we rap about is believable because of how we live or whatever,” says Unk. “But my situation… I don’t think the law had heard too much about my music until the incident. I think they going back and putting my music on trying to make the story look real, they trying to plan on me.”

Opponents of rap like Unk’s, with a focus on crime and drug dealing, insist that situations like this are just chickens coming home to roost. If you put out a song where you say “I’m trappin like it’s ’93“ shouldn’t you expect to get profiled? However, Unk insists that isn’t fair.

“I feel we should rap about whatever we want to rap about. That don’t mean we actually doing it,” he counters. “We might know witnesses or seen or did it in our past but that don’t mean we still doing it. Ain’t no different than a movie. They do all the killing on there.”

Unk, also known as “Mr. Real Estate,” has a new “movie” coming out called “Flood Zone,” a mixtape of all new music that he is selling on iTunes and livemixtape.com. On the tape he has a song called “Pushing Weight” with Gucci Mane, OJ Da Juiceman and his artist Jeff Lynn. While his collaborators have had their own share of legal problems he doesn’t think that that he, or anyone else, should be guilty by association.

“I’m a good dude, I take care of my family and I’m innocent till proven guilty,” says Unk. “You know I believe in God so I don’t think I’m going to be proven guilty. So we looking innocent all the way.”

Ms. Drama sits down with Crystal Sutton (G-Dep’s) wife for a candid interview about G-Dep’s current state and the confession that landed him in jail. During the interview, Sutton opens up about the drugs, when they started and Dep’s “enablers” during this time.

“I would take him to rehab but those places can’t hold you against your will,” she says in the video. The couple was separated at the time of his arrest. “If it wasn’t for the drugs we’d still be together.”

Crystal goes on to talk about the reaction of their children when G-Dep would come home high and how much they miss their father.

“When Travel would see them and he was high, they’d notice but they didn’t know what it was,” she begins. “They’d say ‘daddy you’re so slow.’ They understood something was not right.”

Mobb Deep’s Prodigy Gets Prison Release Date

Incarcerated Mobb Deep group member Prodigy will be a free man this March after serving a three-year sentence for gun possession.

Mobb Deep’s Havoc dropped the date during an appearance on Statik Selektah’s ‘Show Off Radio’ radio show on Shade 45 last night (January 20th).

Prodigy’s official release date from the Mid-State Correctional Facility in New Jersey is March 7th.

Prodigy was one of the first high-profile celebrities to be sentenced to a stiff jail sentence under New York’s gun laws.

The 3 1/2 year prison sentenced stemmed from from an October of 2006 arrest, after police found a loaded handgun in a bulletproof SUV he was driving with passenger/producer The Alchemist.

As soon as he is released, Prodigy will begin to record new material, in addition to promoting his upcoming autobiography, My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy, which is due in stores on April 19th.

An Everett, Washington rapper who once collaborated with Diplomats group member Jim Jones has been arrested for running a major drug operation just an hour outside of Seattle.

Budding rapper Swag and his label Paper Route Records, teamed with Jim Jones to release the song and video for “Swag’n” in February of 2010.

In the video for “Swag’n,” Jim Jones and Swag are in Ferraris, while heading to drop off drugs, in exchange for cash.

Police claim Swag’s portrayal of a drug dealer in the video wasn’t fake – he has been charged with cornering the illegal market for Oxycontin in the city.

Rapper Waka Flocka Flames was released from prison earlier this evening (January 5th), stemming from a raid on his home on last week.

The rapper posted a $40,000 bond and was released from the Henry County Jail, after surrendering to authorities on January 3rd.

Waka Flocka was not home during the raid on his house on December 16th, which resulted in several men being detained and arrested on minor drug and gun possession charges.

According to Allhiphop.com Atlanta, Georgia rapper Waka Flocka Flame is currently being held on bond after he surrendered to authorities earlier yesterday on a variety of charges, stemming from a December 16th raid of his home.

Waka Flocka turned himself into authorities and was charged with multiple offenses stemming from the raid, which yielded a small amount of marijuana and two guns.

G-Dep: “I’m Trying To Get Right With God”

Rapper G-Dep told the New York Post that he didn’t know the man he confessed to shooting in 1993, John Henkel, had died from the gunshot wound.

“I was surprised — for some reason, I really didn’t think that he died,” said G. Dep, who’s real name is Trevell Coleman. “When they told me, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m not going home after this.’”

Coleman had become overcome with guilt about the shooting, feeling that everything bad in his life was karma for the act.

“I thought that if I turned myself in, it might give me closure. I’m just trying to get right with God.”

If convicted of the murder G-Dep faces life in prison.

G-Dep came to prominence in 1999 when he signed to Sean Comb’s Bad Boy label and released the album Child Of The Ghetto in 2001. One of the most popular songs from that album was “Special Delivery.”

According to several sources rapper Charles Hamilton was arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer in Cleveland Ohio on Friday December 10th. The “Brooklyn Girls” rapper was reportedly causing disturbances at several bars and when the police attempted to restrain him he allegedly struck an officer in the face.

His deposition hearing occurred Thursday, December 16, with bail set at $25,000, but reports are conflicting as to whether he is still in police custody.

This is the latest act of unusual behavior for the one-time signee of Interscope records. Earlier this year he checked himself into a mental hospital and was seen in a wheel chair despite being able to walk.

Former Bad Boy Rapper G-Dep Admits To Murder; Held Without Bail

Former Bad Boy rapper G-Dep is being held without bail in a New York jail, after admitting to murdering a man during a robbery attempt in October of 1993.

The extraordinary tale began on Wednesday (December 15th), when G-Dep, born Trevell Coleman, walked into the 25th Precinct and admitted to killing a Queens man named John Henkel in the James Weldon Johnson housing projects.

According to the New York Post, G-Dep walked in and confessed to the murder after 17-years. He told police officers he rolled up on Henkel on Park Ave and 114th street and announced a robbery.

DMX Sentenced To Year In Jail, Gucci Mane Arrested In Raid

Hip-Hop star DMX will end 2010 with a year-long prison term, as the rapper’s probation was officially revoked in Arizona today (December 16th).

The Maricopa County Superior Court revoked the rap star’s probation from 2009, stemming from a conviction on fraud charges, identity theft, assault and a variety of other misdemeanor charges.

DMX tested positive for cocaine and oxycontin and admitted to using drinking alcohol, another violating of the terms of his probation.

In other unfortunate hip-hop news rapper Gucci Mane was arrested during a raid of rapper Waka Flocka Flame’s house this morning. Authorities were in search of drugs, and reports of prostitution.

Waka’s mother, Debra Antney, told TMZ.com that a number of Henry County, police officers raided the rapper’s house and handcuffed Gucci Mane, who heads up the 1017 Bricksquad imprint.

One of the more disturbing trends we noticed in 2010 was the staggering number of rappers who ended up in jail.

Reminisce with us as we go down a list of some of the folks that we hope didn’t drop the soap this year.

T.I.

T.I. probably had the worst year when it comes to being in jail. After serving a jail sentence on federal weapons charges, T.I was released from a halfway house on March 26th and put on probation. However on September 1st, T.I. was arrested again after the driver of his car made an illegal u-turn. Police searched the vehicle and found drugs in the car.

T.I. went back to jail on November 1st to serve an 11 month sentence.

Lil’ Wayne

Weezy did a bid on Rikers Island from March 8 to November 4th on weapons charges. During his time in the clink, Weezy managed to release several music videos that he shot before going in, as well as the I Am Not A Human Being album.

DMX

DMX was in and out of jail this year. In March, he went in for violating his probation. After being released in July, he went back to jail three weeks later on a reckless driving charge for 90 days. On November 19th, he was arrested for violating his probation again.

Suge Knight

The former Death Row Records head was arrested for driving with a suspended license in early December, but earlier in the year, Suge was nabbed by police for ordering a hit on a man.

Foxy Brown

Foxy Brown was arrested this summer after violating a protective order placed on her by her neighbor, Arlene Richmond. Richmond claimed that Foxy yelled at her and mooned her.

Wiz Khalifa

The “Black and Yellow” rapper was busted in November after police found a sizable amount of marijuana on his tourbus. He was charged with possession and trafficking.

Jae Millz

The Young Money rapper was arrested in May after his girlfriend called the cops on him during an argument. Police found that Millz was in possession of marijuana.

Kid Cudi

The Cudster was arrested on June 11th in New York and charged with felony criminal mischief and possession of a controlled substance after police were called in response to a disturbance involving Cudi and an unidentified woman. Cudi later admitted that the controlled substance he was caught with was cocaine.

Ice T

Though he plays a cop on Law & Order, Ice T found himself on the wrong side of the law in July when he was arrested for driving with expired auto insurance. The charge was later dismissed.

Too $hort

The Bay Area hip-hop legend was arrested and charged with three counts of misdemeanor battery in July after a scuffle in an Idaho concert venue.

Petey Pablo

Petey Pablo found himself in serious trouble on September 11th when he was arrested at Raleigh-Durham International Airport after airport security found a gun in his carry-on luggage.

Juvenile

In February, Juvenile was arrested at his home after police responded to a call from his neighbors complaining about the smell of marijuana coming from the home.

Flesh-N-Bone of Bone Thugz N Harmony

In March, the Bone Thugz member was arrested during a concert in the group’s hometown of Cleveland on warrants for felonious assault with a firearm, and domestic violence.

Karriem “Biggs” Burke

The co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records was arrested in October, along with 43 other people, on federal drug charges.

Khia

The raunchy female rapper was arrested in September for “endangering security interests.”

Memphis police have already arrested three people in connection with a Thanksgiving weekend shooting, but are now seeking popular rapper Yo Gotti in connection with a violent altercation.

According to WREG Channel 3, Yo Gotti and an associate, OG Boo Dirty, were involved in a verbal altercation on November 29th when a third man intervened.

THE LEAK: Yo Gotti & Lil’ Wayne “Women Lie, Men Lie”

OG Boo Dirty allegedly struck the man, resulting in a shooting that ended with six people being shot and wounded, including an off-duty security guard who was standing near the scene of the fight.
