In an intimate interview with FREQUENCY TV, Interscope emcee Game says the past 12 months have been life changing, due to his reflections on HIP HOP today. Game went on to relate with a quote by Nas saying “I don’t have the hunger to be the best anymore.” Explaining that hip hop isn’t what it used to be, Game said it forced him not to care about the chains, cars and materialistic things, “It makes me want to buy a Prius.”

Game also spoke about not liking Pharrell in the past but states that he is the main person in hip hop who has helped him through the last year.

When Kelis’ new single “Acapella” leaked last month, we all figured it wouldn’t be long before we heard more news on the “Bossy” singer’s first album since 2006′s Kelis Was Here. Kelis recently announced that she has signed with Will.I.Am’s Will.I.Am Music Group which is distributed by Interscope Records.

“I love that I am now a new part of the Interscope family. 2010 is around the corner and I can’t wait to put out new music and spend time with real music fans on tour again,” Kelis said in a statement.

“Kelis represents the kind of edge that pushes all of us not just musically but stylistically as well. She has always opened new doors for her audience and we’re ready to walk through this next one with her,” offered Will.I.Am.

“Kelis is a true artist and we’re so excited to start this new chapter in her musical life,” stated chairman of Interscope/Geffen/A&M Records.

Kelis’ next album is due to hit stores sometime in 2010 and will be produced by Will.I.Am, David Guetta, and others.

Tuesday night (April 21), New York deejay Funkmaster Flex made a sizable threat on his HOT97 radio show. According to Flex, he plans on banning all Interscope artists from his show.

Throughout the broadcast, Flex made several references to an employee at Interscope Records whom he referred to as Nino.

“Like I told you, Interscope Records is a label,” Funkmaster Flex explained on his show. “They have G-Unit-they have 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo. They have Akon’s label too…A lot of your favorite artists New York, but let me tell you something. That label is trying to make some decisions. Nino, let me tell you something Nino. New York, I’m talking to a person who makes decisions. Who does things up there moving funny style.”

If Flex’s boycott were to in fact happen, major artists such as Eminem and Dr. Dre will no longer be in Flex’s rotation.

50 Cent is heading back to his darker, gangsta roots with his newest CD, after his last release failed to meet his expectations for sales numbers.

50 Cent’s new effort Before I Self Destruct will be released on December 9th. This year 50 will not be competing head to head with Kanye West as he was last year.

“If I could change anything,” 50 told Rolling Stone. “I’d change the timing that I released it. But together we created the largest selling week for hip-hop music.”

On his new work, 50 Cent won’t be having as many guest collaborations as he has in the past.

“It’s darker,” he said. “It has the essence of Get Rich or Die Trying. It’s authentic with harsh realities.”

50 won’t be completely alone, though. There will be guest appearances by Dr. Dre and Eminem.
