Jay-Z took a moment during last night’s Home & Home tour finale at Yankee Stadium to acknowledge Kool Herc, the father of hip-hop.

A building that is recognized as a Hip-Hop landmark in the South Bronx has been rescued by a federal loan that will halt the building’s sale, allowing the rents to stay affordable to its hundreds of tenants.

It’s not often that hip-hop music fans get an opportunity to wear a piece of history, but thanks to the pioneers behind the Sedgwick & Cedar clothing like that is now a reality.

The building that helped give birth to Hip-Hop was sold to a new owner last week for $7 million dollars, AllHipHop.com has confirmed. Developer Mark Karasick outbid the current tenants for 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, which is located in the Bronx.
