The tracklist for Lil’ Wayne’s new EP, I’m Not A Human Being, was revealed today, and we couldn’t help but notice that the first track on the album was called “Gonorrhea.”  That inspired us to go back and listen to some our favorite hip-hop records that dealt with STD’s.

With STDs affecting the African-American community at an alarming rate, we figured now’s as good a time as any to put this list together!

Kool Moe Dee “Go See The Doctor”

Kool Moe Dee’s 1986 single “Go See The Doctor” may have been the first hip-hop song to directly address STDs.  The hilarious song is a bonafide hip-hop classic and set Kool Moe Dee’s solo career in motion!

One of our personal favorites, Ice Cube’s tale of running into an old flame at the free clinic while he was there to pick up some free condoms (suuuure, Cube), is one of the best songs in hip-hop about safe sex.

“Bonita Applebum”‘s line about all the “crazy prophylactics” that Q-Tip and crew had weren’t their only acknowledgment to the need to stop the spread of STDs.

Yesterday’s rumor about Lauryn Hill headlining the 2010 Rock The Bells festival had the internets going nuts!

Last night, the official line-up for the annual hip-hop festival was announced and while Lauryn is slated to be one of the performers, she’s billed on the official press release as a “special guest,” whatever that means.

Hip hop veterans, the Wu-Tang Clan, Rakim, KRS-One, and Slick Rick will be headlining this year’s festival and all four acts will perform their debut albums in their entirety!

For the slow ones out there, that means that the Wu will be performing Enter The Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers, Rakim will be performing Paid In Full, KRS-One will tackle Criminal Minded, and Slick Rick will perform The Great Adventures of Slick Rick.

Wow.

Rounding up the line-up are Street Sweeper Social Club (Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine and Boots Riley of The Coup), Murs and 9th Wonder, Wiz Khalifa, Clipse, Immortal Technique, Jedi Mind Tricks, Brother Ali, DJ Muggs and Ill Bill, Big Sean, and Yelawolf.

The tour will stop at four major markets in the United States this summer, starting on August 21 at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, CA. The tour continues on to Shoreline Amphitheater in San Francisco on August 22, Governer’s Island in New York on August 28, and will wrap up at Merriweather Pavilion in Washington D.C. on August 29.

Normally I don’t look forward to rappers beefing. Mostly because someone could end up killed and the rappers are setting a bad example to their young fans. But I’m looking forward to seeing Canibus go at it with KRS-One. Both of them are very talented, intelligent rappers with a knack for battling who will keep their battle on the mic without shooting up their houses, taking pictures with their children or releasing sex tapes of their baby mothers.

In case y’all don’t know Canibus was popular in the late nineties and famously battled LL Cool J and KRS-One is possibly the greatest rapper of all time.

Here’s what Canibus had to say about KRS-One in a new song with Keith Murray.

KRS-One Says He’s Jay-Z’s Teacher

Dope song by the Blastmaster. KRS earns the name teacher as he breaks down Black history and why it’s everyone’s history.

Hip-Hop legend KRS-One will give back to New York this holiday, when he will help feed thousands of homeless people.

KRS-One, who was once homeless himself, will return to the Bowery Mission this Thanksgiving (November 26), to feed meals to over three thousands of the city’s homeless.

The rapper, who once stayed at the very mission where he will serve meals, will appear at the Bowery Mission on Thanksgiving, from 8:00am until 7:00pm.

“I am participating in the Bowery Mission Thanksgiving Food Drive and Event because I myself was once homeless, walking these very streets, spending time with these wonderful people at the Bowery Mission,” KRS One told AllHipHop.com in a statement.” I depended on them to survive. I am showing up for Thanksgiving this year to not only lend a hand, but hope that I may inspire others in the Hip-Hop community to consider their roles towards helping the homeless and join me by helping those in your community that need help during this holiday season.”

Okay 50 Cent’s album Before I Self Destruct is online now and he’s got video and radio pushing his singles. Isn’t Self Destruction a bad thing? In many ways it’s ironic that 50 Cent titled his album Before I Self Destruct and that in many ways he represents the Self Destruction that KRS, Kool Moe D and Chuck D. were warning against. By promoting guns, violence, gangs and drugs in many, ways 50 is encouraging his followers to head for Self Destruction. My beef with 50′s philosophy, is that while a lucky few get rich, hustling, many more die trying.

Rapper KRS One and former Public Enemy member Professor Griff speak out against the nation’s first black president in the new documentary, “The Obama Deception” [click here to read KRS-One not trusting Obama].

According to Redding News Review, KRS believes corporate elites continue to control the White House, no matter who is in the Oval Office.

“If they controlled it before, what makes you think they’re not controlling it now,” the rapper says in the new DVD from talk radio host Alex Jones. “The country was on the verge of revolution [and] they threw a black man up, now we like this.”

“They put a black face on the New World Order and now we all happy,” he continued. “KRS ain’t buying it.”

KRS-One & Buckshot’s collab album coming this summer!

In late 2007, KRS-One and Buckshot both announced that the veteran emcees from The Bronx and Brooklyn respectively would be linking for a collaborative, joint-venture LP. Nearly a year and a half later, sources close to Duck Down Records have confirmed the recording underway of this momentous meeting of the masters of ceremony.

The two emcees have reportedly opened the studio to an array of star-studded guests. Last Friday, Mary J Blige recorded for the project over a reportedly “tantalizing” Black Milk beat. The track is reportedly titled “On The Grind,” featuring Blige on the chorus, bridge and the song’s opening and closing. Over a decade ago, the Queen of Hip Hop/R&B worked with the label for her famed “I Love You” remix with Smif N’ Wessun.

Other confirmed guests to date are K’naan, as well as label-mates Naledge, Heltah Skeltah and the aforementioned Smif N Wessun. Production duties are already in the works for Havoc, 9th Wonder, Marco Polo, Khrysis, Illmind and MoSS.

While a star-studded list has already confirmed involvement, the Duck Down reps added that 50 Cent and Immortal Technique are also in discussion to appear.
