It was reported the Grammy winner was pushed into filing for bankruptcy again. While some believe the cause is frivolous spending, TMZ says it has something to do with T-Boz’ ex-husband, Mack 10. He owes her $250,000 in back child support.

In light of recent events, The Urban Daily serves up a list of nine celebrities who have filed for bankruptcy. Let these stars’ mistakes be a lesson to you all. Pay the government, before you wind up homeless.

George Clinton

The man who has given the world beloved hits like “Atomic Dog,” “Flashlight,” and “One Nation Under A Groove” has been the victim of record industry rule #4080. George Clinton learned just how shady record companies were in 1985 when he filed for bankruptcy. He was forced to do so because he signed contracts which gave most of the royalties from his music to the record companies. Clinton’s only way of making money from his music was to tour. As soon as people thought George was back on his feet, it was announced George Clinton still didn’t have any money when his mother passed in 2010. Failing health and all, Clinton is still touring to make ends meet.

Natalie Cole

1997 was a roller coaster of a year for Natalie Cole. After winning her eighth Grammy, she filed for bankruptcy. Cole sought financial protection because her spending habits were out of control. Also, her success in the 90s was, in part, due to her recordings featuring her late father, Nat King Cole. Much of the money made from those works had to be paid to his estate. They say never do business with family and Natalie Cole is a prime example. If you do business with  your family, you might just end up broke.

Marvin Gaye

The first thing you think of when Marvin Gaye’s name is mentioned is his voice. Say what you will about his addictions and tragic demise, but the man knew how to sing a woman right out of her clothes. His womanizing was the cause for his divorce to Anna Gordy in 1973. By 1976, Gaye had fallen behind on alimony payments to Gordy. To keep himself out of jail, signed over the royalties to his album, Here, My Dear, to his ex-wife. The double album detailed his feelings about their divorce. With song titles like “Anger” and “When Did You Stop Loving Me, When Did I Stop Loving You,” we know it was a hard break up as well as a long journey back to financial freedom.

Toni Braxton

The financial woes of Toni Braxton are crazy enough to be their own character on her reality show. In the late 90s,  Braxton filed for bankruptcy because of what she claims to have been her chronic health problems, bad business dealings, and medical expenses. She landed back in the black with the release of her album, The Heat. However, the good times didn’t last and she filed for bankruptcy for a second time in 2010. Braxton Family Values is a hit and the money generated from the show can help keep her afloat. Maybe a better accountant would help too.

Suge Knight

The reputation precedes the man when referring to Suge Knight. How a man goes from running one of  the hottest labels in the history of hip-hop to being in prison owing a person $107 million dollars is beyond me. I take that back. In Suge’s case, that is quite possible. Lydia Harris won $107 million from Knight on the grounds he cheated her husband out of a 50% stake in Death Row Records. At the time of his filing, court documents revealed Knight’s bank account held only $12. I wonder which he is more embarrassed of: having $12 to his name after such an extravagant few years or getting knocked out by some random dude in a club and having the picture of him laid out being posted on the internet?

TLC

The ladies of TLC experienced the seedier side of the music business before they filed for bankruptcy. First they signed a management deal with former singer, Pebbles, which gave her a monetary cut of every business deal the group made. Then, when the trio fired her, she sued them for $40 million. They settled out of court with the stipulation, Pebbles got a piece of their future earnings. After that was taken care of, the group released their landmark album, CrazySexyCool. While it sold upwards of 10 million records, the girls were left with $50,000 a piece. Left Eye famously explained how they wound up broke in their episode of Behind The Music. TLC bounced back in 1999 with another chart topping disc, but stopped recording music when the Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes was killed in a car accident in Honduras in 2002.

Isaac Hayes

Isaac Hayes is the man behind some of the greatest soul records ever created. Being that songwriters get a bigger cut in the royalties than the performers, Isaac Hayes should’ve been well off, right? Wrong. Hayes filed for bankruptcy in 1974. Black Moses’ credit was already in the red with Union Planters Bank. He looked to his label, Stax Records, for help but they were in the same boat. Hayes negotiated a deal between himself, Stax Records, and Union Planters Bank. The terms were Stax would let the singer out of his contract to record elsewhere and the money made from the album would go to paying his debt incurred with the bank. By the end of the proceedings, Hayes was left without a home, no personal property, none of his future royalties from anything he wrote or performed. Good thing his speaking voice was so distinctive. Hayes’ bank account was increased when he voiced the character of Chef on South Park years later.

MC Hammer

When people hear about MC Hammer’s meteoric rise and drastic fall, all they can do is shake their heads. He is the poster child for what happens when you overextend yourself while trying to live as lavishly as possible. Hammer went $13 million into debt because he employed half of Oakland as part of his entourage. His monthly expenses were over $500,000 and that’s before taking care of his family. Hammer got his life right with God and is now working with start up internet companies trying to further the positive uses of the internet. Oh yeah, did we mention his appearances in those Cash 4 Gold commercials? He’s doing those too.

Ron Isley

The lead singer of The Isley Brothers was placed on the list of California’s most delinquent taxpayers in the early 2000s. He filed for bankruptcy after some of  his property, including a yacht, was repossessed. Once Uncle Sam got his hands on Ron Isley’s yacht, he figured that wasn’t good enough. Isley was thrown in prison for 37 months for tax evasion. He has since been released from prison, dropped an album, and is working on another with R. Kelly.

Hammer and his team claim that WireDoo is “about relationships beyond just the keywords.”  So when you do your searches for those Amber Rose nude pics (we KNOW you’re doing) it won’t just show you the pics, it’ll show you about Amber Rose’s hairstyle tips, shoe fetishes and other things, but nothing about roses or amber alerts for missing kids.

WireDoo is still in development so we have to wait and see if it does what he claims.

Prodigy: That’s what I’m saying, 3 Ds…dun dun dun! Throw a TV at him crazy.  Hammer got five white people in his office room and I’m, know I’m sayin, embarrassed for Hip Hop. Jay-Z ain’t from Queens, he could get robbed in my ‘jects you know dun dunny?

TUD: Alright.

Prodigy: And you can’t be dancing in a diss track you know? And what’s up with the fake ass Ed Hardy shirts? Alchemist Clothing? I know the REAL Alchemist. He’d never wear no shit like that…on purpose. And how did Lil Wayne get paroled early to dance in this video? That’s that bullsh*t.

TUD: What?

Prodigy: Dun dun…Infamous! MC Hammer was dancing in a diss video. That’s that homo thug. H to the OMO. That Roc-a-fella, kissing men on the lips sh*t. No way you’ll catch the Infamous doing that.

TUD: What do you think of MC Hammer implying that Jay sold his soul to the Devil?

Prodigy: Hundred dollar billers! youknowI’msayin, I set it off on Jay. You can run but you can’t hide forever. Black Mob Gangsters. I seen the devil, you feel me? I been around the world. Amount owed: More than $300,000 in back taxes last year
What had happened was: When Young Buck and 50 Cent‘s relationship soured, ending his G-Unit affiliation, Buck claimed his financial backing went down the tubes too. In an interview in 2010 with vibe.com, the multiplatinum rapper describes how IRS agents raided his Tennessee home at 6:30 a.m. one morning last August, allegedly with guns drawn, attempting to seize his assets. “If you coming just to serve some tax papers and take assets, then you wouldn’t have M-16s, 12 gauges and glocks all out,” he said. “They making it seem like it’s a drug raid.” (Buck says he owed only $164,000.)

MC Hammer has declared that the beef between he and Jay-Z has now come to an abrupt ending.

“As a responsible veteran of twenty something years of this [Hip-Hop]. I can’t leave it out there with tensions,” MC Hammer told AllHipHop.com exclusively. “I am reading comments on both sides, it’s not about that, I have seen all of that before. There is an opportunity to say at some point. We onto the next thing. You know, Jay took his shot and I answered. Now let’s move on.”

Hammer also told his nearly 2 million followers on Twitter that he was ready for peace.

“7 Days is enough. I’m Accepting Jay Z at his “Word” and moving on. I made my point. #KingHammer,” he tweeted. Jay-Z denied that he was dissing Hammer in recent interviews, stating he was only being lyrical on the Kanye West track “So Appalled.”

Young H.O. doesn’t shy away from the Illuminati rumors and the conflict with Hammer. He jokingly says he’s hiding out overseas til the whole thing blows over. He also laughs off the Beyonce pregnancy rumors but says that Willow Smith is going to be a monster by the time she’s 18.  

The most interesting part of the interview is where Jay-Z talks about being an independent artist and how the major labels have treated artists like Lauryn Hill and D’Angelo. Warning, he says the phrase “new world” at the 15:54 mark so cover your ears or Skynet will send the robots to take over your mind. Oh, wait…too late.

Since then, Bus tried his hardest to capture lightning in a bottle again, scouring the Hip-Hop world looking for beef. Canibus responded to this line with “Who Ownz You,” a much-ignored diss track on 2001′s C True Hollywood Stories. Ironically, years later, Beanie Sigel is the one fishing for renewed fame through meaningless diss songs. It was all good just a week ago.

Hammer went so far as to Tweet Kanye West directly to say, “Jay-Hoe aka #HellBoy Tell Jay October 31st we’ll see if this record and video “Hurt’s Him.“

Last year MC Hammer told Allhiphop.com that he had “respect for Jay-Z” and his ability to play chess in the industry [CLICK HERE TO WATCH], but feels prepared to go head-to-head with him now.

Was Jay-Z indeed “dissing” Hammer if he was simply stating facts? Or was this another sneak attack by Hova? What do you think Hammer is going to bring for Jay-Z?

Grammy winner MC Hammer has announced his support for the Feed The Children organization in combating the recent natural disasters afflicting families in Georgia, the Philippines, American Samoa, and Indonesia.

Hammer made the announcement via Twitter, where he has over 1.5 million followers. In addition, the Oakland native verified gold buyer Cash4Gold as a partner.

Previously, the two joined forces earlier this year for a Super Bowl commercial with the late Ed McMahon, and later organized a food drive for underprivileged families in Stockton, CA.

“I am asking my followers on Twitter to also follow my example and to do their part to help out those involved in these tragedies,” Hammer explained. “Thousands of people here at home and abroad are facing a very difficult time, which is why I’m urging everyone to support Feed The Children, a tremendous organization helping to get these victims back on their feet.”

Bigg Marv, aka Marvin Grant, a reality TV character and cousin of music star MC Hammer, was arrested Thursday afternoon for raping a woman he met on Twitter, according to Lt. Matt Sarsfield of the Livermore Police Department.

Grant, 33, met a 40-year old woman on Twitter.com, a social networking site, and the two developed a romantic relationship over emails and phone calls, said Sarsfield.

The woman, who is from Los Angeles, arranged to meet Wednesday night at a hotel in Livermore after Grant returned from a shoot in Las Vegas, Sarsfield said.

After dinner, the victim declined Grant’s advances, but Sarsfield said Grant refused to stop.

“He’s about 300 pounds, and was able to pin her down and keep one of her arms down while he sexually assaulted her,” said Sarsfeld.

Sarsfield said Grant later agreed several times by cell phone to surrender, but never did. Livermore Police staked out several locations and eventually arrested Grant in Tracy.

M.C. Hammer’s reality show called, “Hammertime,” airs on the A&E cable television network, and follows the antics of Hammer’s household in Tracy. Most of the characters are close family members.

Grant often is portrayed as a bumbling comedic character who is always trying to lose weight and once even danced with M.C. Hammer’s backup dancers.

Grant is still in police custody, waiting to be booked into the Alameda County jail facility in Santa Rita, said Sarfield.

A tweet from M.C. Hammer’s Twitter account Thursday evening announced that someone named “Big Mike” was on the way to bail Grant out of jail.

An earlier tweet from the #MCHammer Twitter account announced, “Marv has been picked up. Were standing by him. Welcome to Fame Cousin Marv. Were Praying for you.”

The arrest warrant indicates Grant will be held on $60,000 bail. Grant faces one charge of rape.

Angela Yee is the Queen of putting rappers on the spot, but MC Hammer handled this like a champ. He’s been doing great interviews leading up to his new reality TV show and in this clip Yee-zy asks him to come clean on that “Pumps And a Bump” video from back in the day.

It took him 20 years to address it but MC Hammer actually comes correct when he finally discusses the alleged beef between he and 3rd Bass after their “Gas Face” diss. All you new rappers take note, this is how you handle yourself when someone tries to disrespect you on record.

Allhiphop.com’s Chuck Creekmur asked MC Hammer to give his thoughts on Jay Z’s Death Of Auto-Tune. I may make jokes about Hammer pants and all that but the man is saying some real spit in this clip.

Oakland, California rapper MC Hammer has been hit with a lawsuit over an inspirational book that a publishing company claims was never finished.

Simon & Schuster filed the lawsuit on March 5, seeking the return of a $61,000 advance doled out to Hammer for the book Enemies of the Father: Messages from the Heart on Being a Family Man.

Reports stated that Hammer, 46, signed a contract to write the book under his real name in 2002.

MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice are joining forces for a one-night-only joint show. “Hammer Pants and Ice” goes down Friday, February 27, 2009, at 8:00 p.m. at the McKay Events Center in Orem, Utah.

We can’t possibly answer the inevitable “why” question, but here’s how it will all go down: Hammer is bringing 24 dancers and a full choir; Ice is bringing … himself as far as we can tell. It is evidently the pair’s first show together since the early 1990s, when both were whole-scale radio stars.

When Ice, or Robert Matthew Van Winkle, released To the Extreme in 1990, he actually knocked Hammer (we know him as Stanley Kirk Burrell) out of Number One on the charts: MC Hammer’s Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em, released the same year, was a blockbuster thanks to the hit single “U Can’t Touch This.” Both rappers relied on samples for their biggest tracks: Vanilla Ice’s ubiquitous “Ice, Ice Baby” borrowed from David Bowie and Queen’s “Under Pressure,” while Hammer’s “U Can’t Touch This” was built on Rick James’ “Super Freak.”

The two former chart-toppers share something else too: a harsh critical and cultural backlash that drove them from the spotlight. Both put out follow-up albums in 1991, but dropped out of the spotlight. Hammer turned to the church, and Ice turned to reality television.

So what will happen later this month in Utah? Anyone willing to shell out $29.50 for general admission floor or $35.50 for reserved seating will find out.

MC Hammer will join Ed McMahon to make history in the first ever direct response advertisement to join the Super Bowl commercial lineup. Hammer will be promoting the fast-growing company Cash4Gold. The company, which has grown exponentially since its inception in 2007, allows the public to send in gold items, watches, chains, or rings, and Cash4Gold sends them money in return.

Howard Mofshin, president of Cash4Gold’s parent company, Green Bullion Financial Services, hopes the ailing economy and a big time commercial will allow the company to grow further.

“We figured that the Super Bowl, which is probably the most-watched event for both men and women in the country, would be a greatest place to get our message and our brand out to the public,” Mr. Mofshin told Advertising Age.

Hammer will be part of a huge spending spree as Cash4Gold drops around $3 million for their 30-second ad in the third quarter of the game.

The endorsement is familiar territory for Hammer, who raked in millions of endorsement dollars after his Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em album sold over 10 million copies domestically. Ironically, this will at least be Hammer’s second Super Bowl ad appearance; in 2005, he made fun of his own financial troubles during an ad for Nationwide Insurance.
