Many praised Moses for her 2004 debut, Complex Simplicity. In the midst of working on the follow up disc, TVT Records closed its doors. The dissolution of TVT Records left Teedra, among others, high and dry. Never to be the damsel in distress, Teedra bided her time by touring extensively and penning songs for artists like Mary J. Blige and Christina Milian. Her other mixtapes have been well received also. Rick Ross signed her to Maybach Music Group earlier in the year because he considers her to be his personal Anita Baker. Word around town is The Lioness, her sophomore effort, will land on shelves at the top of 2012. Until then, the mixtape is all yours.

However, as the March 4th deadline approaches many fans are wondering if their CD’s will actually show up.  While Kim did say she was autographing each mixtape no one thought they’d be on homemade Memorex’s. But it is a recession and folks gotta cut corners  (which is why she should have just let folks download digital copies in the first place, isn’t that what your song said, girl?).

Could it be that Yung Berg actually makes some good music? We haven’t quite forgiven him for his “dark-butts” statement, but after the release of his latest mixtape The Show The Afterparty & The Hotel, I must admit he’s been working hard. Check out “Break U Off.”

R&B crooner Lloyd has been missing in action for some time now, but we have not waited for his re-emergence in vein. He has been working harder than ever after leaving The Inc. and promises only the best music to his fans upon his return. He revamped Lessons In Love 2.0 and released it as a mix tape for free(that’s right- free legal music) and yesterday he released his new EP  “Like Me” online for free to his fans. Also check him out in Young Money’s new video- “Bedrock.”

Here’s what Lloyd had to say about leaving The Inc:
“I outgrew where I was at. I’m young, there’s still a lot I want to do in my career and in order to see some of those things happen I just felt that I had to move on. Whatever problems there were I don’t have those problems anymore!”

Lloyd on Mix Tapes overtaking Hip-Hop and R&B:
“Any artist that works a lot, gets tired of making songs that never see the light of day. I just take that as the opportunity give the fans something more than I have to. It says a lot about an artists to  give out free music just for the fans to say thank you and check this out. It’s actually something I’ve taken heed to.”

On his comparisons to Michael Jackson:
“I admire Mike. I think there are people you can’t imitate or duplicate. When you’re considered to be so great naturally everything people do after you will be compared to you in a certain way. In no way shape or fashion do I consider myself in his league.”

Lloyd on differentiating himself from other R&B artist in the game:
“I don’t think anyone in music sounds like me!”

Which artist’s are on his new EP?
“J Holiday, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Rich Boy, Juelz, Wayne, Bun B.”

On working with Drake:
“He’s an incredibly talented guy. He’s really funny and I really enjoyed hanging around those guys. Anytime you can be amongst a peer who is just talented beyond explanation- it feels good. It’s nothing new to Drake. He’s been making his music out of Toronto and now that it is finally popping off and the world is talking about him it’s like he takes that into consideration every time he raps or sings. He makes you feel like he is giving it everything he got, I enjoy that the most.”

Advice for new artists:
“I think the most important thing is that you have a confidence in yourself, so when people tell you that you can’t do something or that it won’t happen at least you know in your heart that this is going to work for you. Just have all the confidence in yourself, and pray on it.”

What will the new album sound like?
“Its going to sound like a gorilla out of a cage. Its going to be big, its going to be in your face!”

Back in the summer of 2008, legendary comic, Bill Cosby, thought it was good idea to release a rap album.

Following the advice of our own Willie Good, Cosby thought it was an even better idea to release a mixtape before the album in an attempt to build up buzz for the album. Executive produced by Dick Shittman himself, the mixtape finds Bill Cosby as you’ve never heard before. Here’s the results:

R. Kelly did what he’s never done before in 2009: dropped a mixtape. Along with DJs Skee and Drama, Kells dropped gems to the street like “Club 2 a Bedroom,” “Bangin the Headboard” and “Disrespect My Shorty.”

“I been in the stands watching the music scene for a minute, just chillin’,” Kelly explained about the title of his mixtape. “I said, ‘If I’m gonna do a mixtape, I feel like I’m starting over in a way.’ I said, ‘I’m gonna act like this is my first time as an artist. I’mma do a demo and hope the world sign me.’ ”

Kell’s redid several current hits including Lil Wayne and Drake’s “Every Girl:

“When I heard that track, I was like, ‘Ah, man, this is what I’m up against when I come back out? I gotta conquer this first,” Kelly told MTV.  I gotta conquer this before I put out my album.’ This is like my homework before I can go out and play. So when I heard ‘Every Girl,’ I’mma keep it real just like them: When I heard the verses and the hooks, I was like, ‘This is so crazy.’ I wanted to put my two cents in.”

Kelly’s Untitled LP is due later this year.

A while back The Affiliates DJ Jaycee (who also DJs for Ludacris and DTP) put out this mixtape, Michael Jackson: The Soulful Years.
