It all started when Common released “Sweet,” a single from his new album The Dreamer, The Believer, weeks ago attacking singing rappers. Drake responded last Friday on Rick Ross’ ”Stay Schemin” with a verse directed at veteran male rappers that act like “broads.” Com hit back this morning by tacking a fresh verse to “Schemin” and actually saying his name.

The bout’s been entertaining for many, but really, should have never begun in the first place. Here are the reasons this beef should’ve stayed in the freezer.

1. This isn’t Common’s style – I wouldn’t go as far as saying Common is a nice guy and definitely wouldn’t say he’s soft. He’s not a troublemaker, either. He’s a finisher. For him to throw the first jab at Drake is unlike him. This isn’t like his 1994 battle with Ice Cube over “I Used to Love H.E.R.,” where Common rhymes about hip-hop’s transformation and Cube took offense to it.

2. The pot calling the kettle black – Common attacks Drake for being “sweet” (see: emotionally available, soft, girly), but Com has always been one of the most honest, lady-loving, rappers out. And occasionally, he’s even sung a bit himself. Granted, he’s doesn’t crooner as much as Drizzy, but it’s there. You would think that Common would appreciate a Drake, who raps well and delivers his music in a unique fashion.

3. Drake NEVER responds to diss records – Common isn’t the first rapper to try Drake. He’s just the first that’s gotten a response. Drake has always said the best response is no response, opting not to leave rappers who aren’t as hot as him alone. Apparently, Common’s “Sweet” struck a nerve.

4. Common initially didn’t call Drake out at first – For a rapper that never responds to hate, Drake sure did pick an odd track to snap at. If Common never said Drake’s name on “Sweet,” why did he feel Com was talking to him? Maybe he felt like he had to rep for his kind?

We don’t know what happened at the 1:37 mark where the song cuts off but we can only guess that the music gods were trying to send a message. For a Lil Kim “diss” she spends more time talking about her shoes than Ms. Jones. Pretty much the only thing we can co-sign is her calling out Kim for saying she loves Biggie but hates on his mom Ms. Wallace.

The song was originally supposed to be released on Christmas Eve (hence the “Jingle Bell Rock” intro) but said she delayed its release because she was mourning the death of a friend. A second song “You Ain’t Ruff Enuff” was leaked by former associates despite her protest.

While we would welcome some officially sanctioned music from Foxy Brown the only thing getting “massacred” by these “leaks” is Foxy’s rep.

Nicki Minaj F/ Eminem, “Roman’s Revenge” [AUDIO]

(AllHipHop News) Rapper 50 Cent continues to shake up the “Twitterverse” with a series of tweets today that drew the scorn of celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton.

The rap star took to his Twitter page today (September 6th) and took aim at Perez Hilton, who labeled 50 Cent a “douche bag” in a tweet.

Today, 50 Cent addressed the issue when he jokingly tweeted that he had a friend shoot up a gay wedding, along with a link to a picture of people fleeing a tragic scene.

Hilton immediately noticed the tweets and replied.

“50 Cent joking about violence towards gays is about as expired as the days when he used to be musically relevant,” Perez Hilton tweeted.

50 replied that he wasn’t scared of the “pink mafia,” an alleged underground powerful group of gay Hollywood movers and shakers.

In a recent interview with Black Voices Lil Kim took a break from her Nicki Minaj hate campaign to send a few hollow points Foxy Brown’s way:

While Lil Kim seems to be building more and more steam with her public attacks on Nicki Minaj, Drake and Diddy, The Bad Boy mogul seems to be taking the high road.

In an interview with the BBC’s Tim Westwood he stated:

“I want to say I love Lil’ Kim, man. I’m sorry that she’s mad. I never would have thought that by me working with another artist that she would take it the wrong way. But if she’s taking it the wrong way it ain’t meant like that. Nicki never did anything to her.”

He also went on to defend Nicki Minaj and suggests that Kim may be doing this to get a buzz.

“She ain’t trying to swagger-jack or say nothing negative about her. I just think that Kim needs to just understand that Nicki as a whole has always been respectful of her and Nicki’s not trying to be her,” Diddy said. “I ain’t gonna make no apologies for working with Nicki Minaj. [She is] somebody that’s never said anything negative about Kim and just really has always, in my eyes, has paid homage to Kim. ..”

As for Lil Kim she is going full throttle. After Drake responded to she and Ray-J’s on stage comments against Nicki she retaliated calling him a “Punk P*ssy” in an interview with ThisIs50.com and that he wore his heart on a sleeve for “coming at a girl.”

Kim has not held her tongue when it comes to Barbie either. Recently she went so far as to say that she was going to “bite” Nicki Minaj for stealing her style.  We all are hoping she meant it figuratively.

This tit-for-tat began when Khia dissed Trina in a XXL magazine article and Da Baddest Bitch took the bate, responding with a diss record:

In an interview with TheUrbanDaily Khia insinuated that she had some kind of relationship with Lil Wayne, who has been romantically linked to Trina in the past. Weezy was smart enough to never even address the Khia rumors.

Rapper 50 Cent has commented on the latest chapter of his feud with Rick Ross.

Pictures of 50 Cent, Floyd Mayweather and Rick Ross’ ex girlfriend Tia Kemp hit the internet last week, featuring 50, Tia and her two children at Mayweather’s mansion in Las Vegas.

The photos featured 50 Cent and Floyd holding and posing with Rick Ross’ son, as well Tia’s older son DeAndre from a previous relationship.

Originally both men left family members out of their long standing feud, after 50 Cent removed a video of G-Unit members filming DJ Khaled’s mother as she dozed off at work in a Florida retail store.

In response, Rick Ross posted images of 50 Cent’s son Marquis with a monkey head on the Internet.

According to 50, this is where the battle crossed the line and justified the video featuring 50 and Mayweather with Rick Ross’ children.

“When you’re competing as an artist, there’s boundaries that I wouldn’t cross myself personally, until the other artist crosses those boundaries,” 50 Cent told Vibe. “It was a point where Rick had took my sons picture, he cut a picture of my son out and put him on top of a monkey. At that point, the parameters changed. Nothings off limits at the point.”

Radio One’s fourth annual Dirty Awards was interrupted last night during two separate flare-ups between rapper Shawty Lo and members of the Grand Hustle camp.
An eye witness told AllHipHop.com that the tension between the two crews mounted during Shawty Lo’s performance, which included a diss version of Grand Hustle artist Yung LA’s song “Ain’t I.”
As Lo performed his version with a chorus “Don’t I,” an audience member identified by an eyewitness as Capitol recording artist Alfamega, allegedly threw a chair onto the stage.
At that point, witnesses say another artist signed to the T.I.-helmed label stormed the stage, at which point authorities proceeded to break a fight.
