It seems Robin Thicke has no desire to jump on the “Black men ain’t sh*t!” bandwagon. In an interview with Essence.com, the blue-eyed soul singer (who is married to actress Paula Patton), was asked if black women should consider dating interracially, in light of the media declaring there’s a shortage of eligible black male suitors. Thicke replied:

I think that’s ridiculous. There are so many good Black men out there that are hardworking, decent, and handsome, you know? To start that rumor is as bad as starting any other negative rumor. There are great Black men out there. There are only a few good White men — trust me. (Laughs) Good luck finding a good White man who understands your journey. I only have three White friends. I’ve got 20 Black male friends, who are all good men who take good care of their wives, and good care of their children. I know amazing Black men.

Thicke goes on to say that black women should consider taking better care of their men and practice more “give and take” in their relationships.

The latest casualty: Quincy’s 1990 classic quiet-storm posse cut “The Secret Garden” which originally featured Al B Sure!, El DeBarge, James Ingram and Barry White gets a Jermaine Dupri produced stripper pole remix featuring Robin Thicke, Usher, and…. Tevin Friggin Campbell????

Quincy Jones Readies Tribute Album… To Himself

After ruining “We Are The World” for millions of people last month, legendary producer Quincy Jones is set to ruin even more of his classic productions with his upcoming Soul Bossa Nostra tribute album.

Jones has called on a who’s who of today’s stars to cover some of his classic works, and the list of artists and the songs they are attached to make me want to vomit.

Here’s a few of the biggest offenders:

Akon “Strawberry Letter 23″ (made famous by The Brothers Johnson)
Usher, Robin Thicke, LL Cool J, Trey Songz, Tyrese, Tevin Campbell “Secret Garden” (originally performed by El DeBarge, James Ingram, Al B. Sure!, and Barry White)
Ludacris “Soul Bossa Nova” (aka the Austin Powers theme, and sample source for Luda’s “Number One Spot”)
T-Pain & Robin Thicke “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)” (originally performed by Michael Jackson)

Now I must say that it’s not all doom and gloom, as Quincy did find some people worthy of the songs they are covering:

Mary J. Blige & Q-Tip “Betcha Wouldn’t Hurt Me” (originally performed by Patti Austin)
BeBe Winans “Everything Must Change” (originally performed by Bernard Ighner)
John Legend “Tomorrow (A Better You, A Better Me)” (originally performed by Tevin Campbell)
Jennifer Hudson “You Put A Move On My Heart” (performed by Tamia on Jones’ Q’s Jook Joint album)

But then again, you’ve got Snoop Dogg doing his own interpretation of The Brothers Johnson’s disco/funk classic “Get The Funk Out Ma Face.”

I quit.

Akon’s sacrilegious cover of “Strawberry Letter 23″ will be out on March 24th.

The album, Q: Soul Bossa Nostra, will be out in May or June.

During a promo night for his new album Sex Therapy, R&B star Robin Thicke explained why his latest CD is recession friendly.

“I thought about all of the stress we have in our day and money problems we all have,” he said. “I just thought at the end of the day how can I please my woman if I can’t buy her what she needs all the time? Maybe I can give her some sex therapy.”

The album features guest appearances from Jay-Z, Lil Kim, Nikki Minaj as well as a cover of Rakim’s “Mahogany.” (Not quite sure why he doesn’t consider it an Al Green cover but I’ll let you all work that out.)

Sex Therapy is in stores now and might make a great stocking stuffer.

Robin Thicke and wife Paula Patton are expecting their first child, Usmagazine.com has learned.

On Tuesday, the two – who began dating in high school before wedding in 2005 – got cozy at the 2009 Angel Ball in New York City.

Thicke, 32, was happy to sing her praises.

“She could make a marriage work with a chair,” he told Us of Patton, 33, who is currently shooting the Queen Latifah comedy, Just Wright. “She’s an incredible woman, and she’s very beautiful, so I’m just lucky to be with her.”

Asked how they work so well together, Patton told Us, “He’s … amazing!”
