Felicia “Snoop” Pearson, who appeared on HBO’s crime drama The Wire, was one of about 30 people arrested in a drug raid in Baltimore early this morning.

Police say Felicia “Snoop” Pearson, who played a killer of the same name on the hit television series, is among about 30 people who were arrested. Police declined to say what charges she faces.

Drug Enforcement Administration agents, Baltimore police and others carried out the raids Thursday in the city.

The Wire aired on HBO from 2002 to 2008 and is the favorite television show of President Barack Obama.

After telling us about his work with Safari’s Song, The Urban Daily had the veteran discuss his influence on hip-hop, whether Huggy Bear was really a “snitch” and what it was like being Black in Hollywood in the 1960s, 70s and today.

“What we have to realize is that the struggle is not over, particularly in TV. Back in the day the Black male or female filled the “ethnic” slot in a TV series. Now you have Hispanic, Korean, even women in general. It used to be a male dominated scene. The Pam Griers were rare. In order to survive we have to share now.”

When photos of Snoop Dogg’s new Adidas Originals Freemont Mid sneaker dropped this month, neither rap fans or sneakerheads were too excited about them. It’s tough to blame them because while the kicks aren’t flat out ugly, they don’t hold a candle to high-profile rap sneaks like Kanye’s Air Yeezys with Nike or Jay-Z’s Gucci-inspired S. Carters with Reebok. Even non-major label rap acts like MF DOOM and DJ Clark Kent have netted classics with Nike. It’s no secret amongst hip-hop fans and diggers that Snoop’s Dr. Dre produced “Boss’s Life” shares the same sample as Busta’s Nottz-produced “Everybody Rise.”

However, as the late Guru rhymed, “rap is an art you can’t own no loops” but it didn’t stop fans from raising an eyebrow at the common usage of The Controllers “If Tomorrow Never Comes.”

When I interviewed Nottz last year for Nodfactor.com I asked him if he’d given Dre any help finding the sample and he said “hell naw…Dre is gonna do his homework.”

As it turns out Dre did get some help from Nottz, but not directly. When I spoke to the good Dr. for Vibe magazine I asked him about the “Boss’ Life” track and the sample replay and he was very upfront about Nottz’ influence on the beat.

“We listened to the Busta record to replay the music,” he told me matter-of-factly. “It’s just a track that I loved for a long time. I played it for Snoop and he was like yeah!”

As for anyone questioning why someone of Dre’s stature would reuse a sample from such a well-known record he said bluntly…

“I understand, but it’s a track that I enjoyed. Do I really need to prove myself anymore? I mean come on.”

There is a brilliant moment in Chris Rock’s “Never Scared” when he concedes that he can’t defend certain elements of rap music.

“It’s hard to defend ‘I got hoes in different area codes’,” he says adding that he should be ashamed of himself for liking Lil Jon’s “Get Low.”

But that isn’t even the best part. It’s when he goes on to say that GIRLS are in the club LOVING the song, singing and dancing “til the sweat drips from my balls!” The nastier the song the better. “Slapemwitdad*ck, slapemwitdad*ck.”

To be clear we’re not talking about a regular old sex song like LL Cool J’s “Doin It.” We’re talking about those over-the-top “we really don’t like women other than to service us sexually” type of songs.

How true is this? Very. In fact, there is a list of songs that treat women in the worst ways that get the biggest responses at the club. If the beat is right and there is a chorus they can sing along to it really doesn’t matter how many b*tches and hoes are sprinkled in between. And I’m not just talking about young girls. Some of you out there around my age sang your hearts out to Akinyele’s “Put It In Your Mouth” and probably still did at the 20 year HS reunion.

Does it make it right? That’s another debate for another post but here we present the Top 10 women-hating songs that women seem to love. *Kanye Shrug*

10. Bravehearts “Oochie Wally”
Ironically it was the married guy on this record that had the nastiest verse. What did Horse’s wife think? Click here to find out.

9. Ying Yang Twinz “The Whisper Song”

Walk up to a woman and whisper “Wait’ll you see my d*ck” and see how fast you end up in handcuffs. “Intimate Crunk” is what they called it. However, they even got Free to rap about her boy shorts on the remix.

You can pick from a list of “Love letters” from Cam’ron but this has to be the most popular next to “Wet Wipes.” At least he gives the girls a choice.

He’s only got one night in town, “Break out or be clowned.”

The latest slang on a fan favorite has none of the romantic presumption of “Busit Baby” but the ladies love it just the same.

You’re thinking this doesn’t belong but listen to the lyrics. What is there to dislike about a big butt and a smile? Really? And just like Snoop and his crew Ronnie lets it be known, “me and the crew used to do her.”

The pied piper of booty music made women hit the floor on all fours at the first bark of “don’t stop!”

According to DrewReports.com, Death Row Records will have it’s assets auctioned off on January 23rd as the label recently filed bankruptcy.

Now a complete list of the items being sold is available to the public. Among the 400 items being sold are Suge Knight’s cigars and engraved humidor, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre’s “Source Awards,” paintings, framed pictures, Tupac Shakur memorabilia, framed gold and platinum records, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Versace items, fitness equipment and more.” If you plan to place a bid on any of these items, there are strict rules. First there is a $200 cash fee to register plus 25% cash, cashiers check, credit card required on award of bids. A 13% buyers premium will be added to all sales and the balance due before removal.
