Since retiring from the NBA Shaquille O’Neal has become an analyst for TNT.  When recently asked to name the best Center in the NBA “The Diesel” bestowed that honor on Lakers big man Andrew Bynum. However, in a head-to-head match up with Orlando Magic Center Dwight Howard (the man many would consider the best center) Bynum came up short.

Howard got the best of Bynum, finishing with 21 points, 23 rebounds and one blocked shot to Bynum’s 10 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks in the win. For the season Howard is averaging 20 pts, 16 rebounds ad 2.3 blocks to Bynum’s 15 pts, 13 rebounds and 1.9 blocks.

So what did Dwight have to say in response to Shaq?

“He’s mad about ‘Superman,’” Howard said referring to his Slam Dunk contest routine from 2008. “I didn’t know he made it up. I didn’t know Superman came from Shaquille O’Neal.”

Superman was one of several nicknames Shaquille O’Neal used during his career, flaunting a Kryptonian “S” tattoo on his bicep. But Howard doesn’t care.

“I would suggest he’d just sit down and get on with his life,” Dwight added. “He don’t play no more, so what’s the point of talking trash? It’s not like we’re wrestlers and we get to battle it out. Who cares?”

(via Entertainment Weekly) Diversity has come to Metropolis!  In a surprising but exceptional act of color blind casting, actor Laurence Fishburne has been tapped to play The Daily Planet’s editor-in-chief Perry White in the upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel. Fishburne’s character  will  crack the whip when it comes his two star reporters, Lois Lane and Clark Kent.  The talented thespian recently wrapped up his run on “CSI” and copped an Emmy nod last month for his role as Thurgood Marshall in the HBO special “Thurgood.”

Man of Steel stars British import Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod, and Henry Lennix as General Swanwick.  The film is being directed by Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) with a script written by David Goyer (Batman Begins), and produced by Christopher Nolan.  Man of Steel is slated for a June 2013 release.

If you took a look at Rhymefest’s video for “Chicago” you realized how much of a big comic book fan he is.  With Comic Con kicking off tomorrow  TheUrbanDaily.com  wanted to share our interview with Fest for this new album El Che where we asked him about the one hero who doesn’t possess any real super powers–Batman.

We were a little surprised at his response since in our interview he espoused the virtue of being a hero in your own way.

“Batman makes motherf*ckers think they can be some sh*t they can’t be,” Rhymefest said rolling his eyes. Watch the clip to see why he’s hating on the caped crusader.

If we needed any more proof that The Dark Knight had changed the landscape of superhero films coming out of Warner Brothers and DC Comics, we have it now, thanks to director/writer David Goyer. In an interview with IESB.net, Goyer said that all DC property films are currently on hold.

Asked about the projects he was involved with, including Superman and The Flash, Goyer said:

“A lot of the DC movies at Warner Brothers are all on hold while the figure out, they’re going to come up with some new plan, methodology, things like that so everything has just been pressed pause on at the moment. It was the double header of both Superman and The Dark Knight coming out, so more than ever I think they’ve realized, I think DC was responsible for 15% of Warner Brother’s revenue this year, something crazy like that, so they realized that comic books, it’s become a new genre, one of the most successful genres.”

With trouble brewing over at Brash Entertainment, Variety confirmed that the struggling studio was working with Lair developer Factor 5 on a Superman title. Eggerbrecht recently told MTV Multiplayer, “We are working on several projects, both multi-platform, as well as, single-platform titles for the Wii which you’ll hear a lot more about very soon.”
