The Result: Bow Weezy appeared on an episode of George Lopez Tonight a few nights later and admitted that he lost to Game—and lost bad to him. Who says playing video games all day will never get you anywhere in life? Don’t tell that to Game!

He’s back! Everyone’s favorite sleazy sports agent, Irv Smiff rides back into glory tonight on tonight’s episode of BET’s “The Game.” For actor PJ Byrne, stepping into the shoes of such a despicable character, is just like coming home. “The great thing about playing Irv for so long is that I don’t have to think about what makes him tick. It’s like putting on a second skin.” Byrne has been busy racking up movie credits, with comedic turns in both Final Destination 5 and Horrible Bosses last summer.

The Urban Daily caught up TV’s most lovable racist to get the scoop on Season 5 of “The Game” and why Irv Smiff would win in a battle of the sleaze against “Entourage” agent Ari Gold.

You were on “The Game” the first three seasons. What was it like being back on set the first day?

The first day, people were hugging me and it was such a great moment—I felt like I had never left. They were genuinely happy to have me back. The crew’s a little different, but they’re all great. There’s something about playing a character like Irv—I don’t have to think about his history or making character choices.

“The Game” now shoots in Atlanta. What was the adjustment like from filming in L.A.?

I love it! Everybody in Atlanta watches “The Game” so I feel famous over there. I go to the mall and people are like “It’s Irv!” Atlanta is really tied into the industry so they recognize people immediately.

When you meet your fans, is the reception positive or negative?

It’s funny because it’s like “Irv I love you…but you’re bad!” People feel like they know you. They always say “You’re so nice in person, I can’t believe you play that guy.”

Which cast members do you hang out with off the set?

Sometimes Pooch Hall or Wendy and I’m friends with the writers so I get to hang out with them too. The cast and crew are really like one big family. But the thing is when you’re down there, you’re there to work and they work pretty crazy hours. If you’re lucky to get a bite to eat or a beer, you’re just going to pass out afterwards.

Having to play a character so despicable, what kind of preparation do you go through to get into Irv’s mindset?

I always start by putting on the shoes. It’s the first thing that grounds you. There’s something visceral about how someone stands. As for the character choices for Irv, anything that’s appalling to me, PJ—that’s a choice I’m going to make for Irv. He does push the envelope and says some racy stuff. Is Irv really racist? I don’t know. Sometimes he just tries too hard to fit in. Irv isn’t pure evil, he’s just out for himself. He looks out for his clients, but at the end of the day he’s looking to win. When he says these crazy, dirty things it’s all out of love, in a dark, evil way.

Was there ever a time when you looked at your script and thought “I can’t say this. This is over the line?”

(Laughs) Every episode! I think to myself “There’s absolutely no way I can say this out loud.” The writers will come over and reassure me that’s it’s OK, it will get a lot of laughs. It has gotten easier over the years. If I think it’s horrible and inappropriate then I know it’s right up Irv’s alley.

Did you base Irv on any agents that you know?

After I graduated college, I was planning to go into the finance world. They’re some really dark guys—I based Irv on some people I had worked for in the past. It’s mostly absorbing the evil, nasty people I’ve come across in the business. People like Bernie Madoff, he doesn’t think he’s evil. He doesn’t give a sh*t what people think about him. In his mind he’s justified his behavior “I made all these people so much money.” People who are like that, truly narcissistic, that’s who I base my character on.

Who is more cutthroat agent, Irv Smiff or Ari Gold?

Irv all the way! Irv Smiff poops Ari Gold. I chew guys like him and digest them an hour later. Irv would shut him down, no contest. I would start with his toupee and take him all the down. (Laughs) All jokes aside, I watched “Entourage” and Jeremy Piven is an amazing actor. Just a great cast all around.

Which episode of the “The Game” was the most fun filming?

There’s a ton of scenes that come to mind, but definitely singing the Rihanna song “Take A Bow” with Wendy Raquel Robinson. I also sang “It Takes Two” with Rob Base, and while filming this season I got to kick a field goal at The Georgia Dome. That was so much fun.

A little known fact–you actually have a college degree in both finance and drama from Boston College. How did you make the transition into acting?

Well, originally the plan was to work on Wall Street after I graduated. I actually had a job lined up as an analyst. But a professor of mine told me I should go into acting and I said “You must be crazy-cakes.” He said “Here are the three best drama programs in the country. They only take ten kids, let’s send your application and see what happens.” I ended up being accepted into the theater program at DePaul. So even now, it still seems bizarre that I’m acting for a living.

What can viewers expect from Season 5 of “The Game?”

Expect a meaner, more racist Irv Smiff. You’re going to hate him more than you ever have in your life. The fifth season is all about relationships, but we’re really going to amp up the comedy. Tasha (Wendy Raquel Robinson) and I will battle, as always. The relationship between Melanie (Tia Mowry-Hardrict) and I will build up, and there’s going to be some very funny scenes where we go at it.

We all knew it was a matter of time before the music industry became too much for West Coast MC, Game. In his latest music video, “Martians vs. Goblins,” Jayceon Taylor finds himself in the loony bin. Tyler The Creator aka Wolf Haley is right along with Game rapping about throwing Rihanna in front of a train and tying Lil B up to a tank of propane to watch him blow up. Whoa, buddy! In an odd turn of events, Lil Wayne contributes vocals, but doesn’t appear in the visual. Asylum patients mouth Weezy’s parts.

“The concept of the video is really trying to go more on the horror side. Game gets checked into the insane asylum and then he ends up getting taken to the coroner’s room and put to sleep,” offered the video’s director Matt Alonzo.

This cut off Game’s R.E.D. LP reminds me of Russell Simmons‘ failed horrorcore rap group, Flatlinerz. However, it is a cool Halloween joint, if that’s what you’re into.

While television seeks to successfully portray real life situations on the the screen, “bad” marriages have also translated to the media. The drama going on in your bedroom is what you can also see on your favorite entertainment station. Stacia L. Brown of HufffingtonPost.com evaluated the “bad” marriages currently on the boob tube. “Jumping the broom is only half the battle. For TV couples, the titles “husband” and “wife” are just the beginning. They also have to convince viewers that they’re compatible — that they belong together, or as Joan Clayton used to sickeningly repeat in every episode of Malik Yoba’s character arc on Girlfriends, that they’re each other’s “Enchanted Love.That can be a hard sell — even for couples the writers *really* need for us to buy as soulmates. Here’s a list of matrimonial pairs who may’ve missed the mark.”

Is it me, or did Derwin seem happiest when he wasn’t with Melanie? All she does is play games, whine, keep secrets, and swab his kid for DNA when he isn’t home. She initially mocks his career, believing her own profession to be so much nobler. He agrees to pay her way through medical school and she decides not to practice. Then, come to find out, she terminated a pregnancy and never told him, after harassing his own child’s mother, brow-beating him, and trying to get him to sign away his parental rights.

The new season should open with a trip to divorce court.

The Game must really can not stand Jay-Z. He continues to take shots at the throne. During the VMAs The Game did some commentary giving his Twitter followers a brief recap on the show.

The Game commented on Beyonce’s preganancy, “Jay-Z Came In Beyonce” and a twitter follower responded. You Wanna be Jay-Z bad huh?” The Game replied, “Naw I Don’t Want Hot Dog Link Lips n a Birds Chest @ All #imGood.”

I guess The Game will not quit throwing shots at Jay-Z until he be his friend or responds to him on wax. I am really starting to believe The Game just wants to be Jay-Z’s friend.

It looks like Game’s wacky antics have paid off! The West Coast rapper has a lot to be smiling about after his fourth studio album R.E.D debuted number one on the Billboard 200 charts. According to Nielsen Soundscan, R.E.D sold 98,000 copies in it’s first week making it his fourth album to debut at number one. The Game thanked his fans on Twitter “Im so fuckin happy right now I dont know what the fuck 2 do ! Thank yall again from the bottom of MY HEART ! Lamborghinis 4 EVERYBODY lol.”

The Game was facing multiple charges with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department after a prank Tweet gone terribly wrong! The Game apologized on CNN for the mishap claiming that it was his friend who had sent the Twitter message informing his followers of an internship with the West Coast rapper. The internship was fake but the number provided was indeed the phone number to the LASD who received an increase in call volume! Charges have since been dropped and the LASD released this statement “Based upon our investigation, as well as consultation with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, the LASD considers the criminal investigation into this matter closed.” “The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will not be seeking criminal charges.”

The Game has plans to sign with Cash Money once his deal with Interscope ends. He says he has been tight with the Cash Money, Young Money camp since NBA player Baron Davis days with the New Orleans Hornets. Baron Davis is the godfather to The Game’s son and the rapper got tight with Birdman when he use to visit the city. “I talk to Baby everyday,” is what he told XXL Mag. The Game has one more album left on his deal with Interscope Records. He says he expects to reach a new agreement with Cash Money sooner than expected.

“We been playing with the idea of going over to Cash Money or trying to marry that and Black Wall Street,” he explained. “So, we’ll figure it out before the end of the day. I definitely think that’s where I’ll probably end up. Cause they winning, they want to win and I been winning and want to continue to win.”

The Game’s The R.E.D. Album is expected to hit stores on August 23.

Tia Mowry, who stars on BET’s “The Game” celebrated her baby shower at the London Hotel. The shower was sponsored by baby Disney and red velvet cupcakes by Sweet E’s were on deck for the guest. Tia’s co stars Wendy Raquel-Robinson, Brittany Daniel were in attendance and of course, twin sister Tamera Mowry. Cory Hardrict, Tia’s husband decided to join the celebration as well. Tia revealed she is expected to be back on set of “The Game” working, two months after she gives birth.

BET’s hit drama series The Game has found a secure place among audiences. It’s funny, realistic, dramatic and one of the best black shows on television right now. The cast stars Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall but many of the other characters are what give the show pizazz. Barry “Tee Tee” Floyd is one of those characters. His silly but loyal presence around Hosea “Malik Wright” Chanchez has earned him a spot in viewer’s heart. As he enters the world of entrepreneurship we see Tee Tee’s character evolve from a side-kick to a businessman. Tee Tee spoke with me about a prank kiss with cast mate Tia, where The Game is headed and starting a petition to become a regular on the show!

BET picked up The Game and many changes were made. What were some of those changes the cast had to deal with?

Well for me, I felt like there were a lot of positive changes. We shot a lot more on location than we did when we were on the CW, so the show had a cinematic look – looks a lot better. I felt like the production value went up a lot more than it was before. They also got more dramatic with it – got a little bit away from the comedy and went more into the drama, which I liked a lot, but I felt like the fan base gave us a mixed reaction on it.

Do you think that you and TT share some characteristics? How do y’all differ from real life and TV?

I’m a laid back type of guy like TT is in real life. But I couldn’t be nobody’s flunky like that. And he puts up with a lot more than I would ever put up with. I wouldn’t have ever took that girl back.

Who is your personal favorite character on The Game, besides TT?

I like Jason Pitts – he’s funny. The way people always say their waiting to see what TT’s gonna do and say, I’m waiting to see what comes out of his mouth next.

You’re petitioning to become a regular on the show. And I’ve noticed that they also had [Kelly] become a recurring role. What happened with that, because you were on a lot of episodes before BET kicked in?

I’ve always been recurring. But in her situation, I don’t know all the details, but I think she had something else, like another project going on. She wasn’t able to dedicate all her time to The Game because she had another project she was working on. So a lot of times when stuff like that happens, it’s not always because the actor got in trouble or the writers decided they didn’t like us no more; it could’ve been a million different things.

What is something that happened behind the scenes of The Game that no one knows about?

A: My favorite thing that happened, it was Season 2 back when we still had a studio audience, and this scene actually ended up getting cut out, but you remember back when Melanie was staying with Malik and Tasha, and they ended up kicking her out because she got in bed with Malik? There was a scene where Tasha was telling her she had to leave and I came downstairs with her suitcase and stuff and I was supposed to try to kiss her and just punk out and not do it. So every take it was like, “Alright – just close your eyes, pucker up, then punk out and leave.” So on the last take, I closed my eyes, and I got ready for the kiss. Someone must’ve told her to grab me and kiss me for real. So I had my eyes closed, and the next thing I know, she just grabbed me and just wrapped around me and gave me, it wasn’t a real kiss – it was just like a stage kiss, so you don’t open your mouth. For me, I had just started acting – it was my first time really being around them like that, so it was like, “Oh Tia from Sister, Sister just gave me a fake kiss.” I didn’t even know about the stage kiss how you don’t open your mouth. So my natural reaction was to open my mouth. So I got my tongue out and her mouth is closed, so I’m like, ‘Oh, I guess I’m not supposed to be having my mouth open.’

What’s in store for Barry?

Well first of all, I’m trying to be a serious regular. Go to The Game Facebook page and to just let them know that they want to see TT every week. I started a campaign on my Twitter page telling everybody to go to the Facebook page. And also just hit BET up on Twitter, hit up The Game on Twitter – I’m just trying to let them know that I have the fan base behind me, so that’ll give them more incentive to do it.

The Game’s hard exterior would make anyone believe that he didn’t have a funny bone in his body. Contrary to what we think, The Game is actually slightly humorous. Fuel TV produced a sketch with The Game poking fun at constipation. Wearing a red cardigan, The Game brought his sarcasm to the satire.

The Game’s “Red Nation” was banned from BET and MTV for portraying gang affiliation; but that didn’t stop the music video from hitting the Internets and going viral! After listening to the lyrics of “Red Nation” I completely understand why the video was banned from the two popular networks. It simply portrays and promotes gang affiliation/violence like being in a gang is still cool after the 90′s and like gang violence isn’t killing our people.

“Blood the f*ck up” Really, is this what we are promoting?

BET Renews The Game For Fifth Season

After rescuing The Game from cancellation on The CW network, BET has renewed the drama for a new season on the network. This will make the fifth season overall for the sports-centered sitcom. According to Deadline, the series’ fourth season debut was seen by 7.7 million viewers, a staggering number compared to the less than 2 million viewers the show was bringing in while on The CW. Season 4 ended with an audience of around 4.4 million viewers.
