Michael K. Williams is an actor who is destined to go far. He’s mostly known for his role on “The Wire” as Omar Little, but his portrayal of Chalky White on “Boardwalk Empire” is winning him more acclaim. On the other hand, “Boardwalk Empire’s” busy shooting schedule has kept Williams from taking a part in Quentin Tarantino’s forthcoming Django Unchained. Michael K. Williams lost the lead role to Jamie Foxx. However, Tarantino was so impressed with his acting, he decided to create a part specifically for Williams. Now that he can’t be in the film, we wonder what is going to happen to this mysterious role. Only time and Tarantino will tell.

Pearson’s public relations team sent out a statement on her behalf:

“Felicia Pearson has the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. In Felicia’s case, she feels that she is being targeted not only because of her portrayal of the memorable character “Snoop” On HBO’s critically acclaimed series THE WIRE; but also because of where she is from in Baltimore.

Felicia grew up where high crime rates, drug use and violence are the norm. Felicia has overcome numerous hard ships in her lifetime. She does not expect these hardships to be used as an excuse for illegal activities. She has never stopped working on self improvement. Felicia has made strong statements against drugs and violence of any kind.

She is focused on living a positive life-style encouraging youth and formerly incarcerated women to make positive choices for themselves. She is currently working on 3 films that are shooting in Philadelphia with Len Daniels and T-Town Music Group.

Felicia hopes to return to the Philadelphia film set immediately, and wants her friends and fans to know that she is keeping her head up, shoulders back and that she is prepared to fight these new charges against her.”

10. American Gangster. BET. This show was a great documentary series that clearly took a lot of research and thought. Unlike the rap videos that BET shows, American Gangster showed the causes and effects of drugs and criminality. Some of the highlights were there shows on Mutulu Shakur, which examined the militant Black revolutionary movement of the 60s and 70s, Rick Ross, which examined the CIA’s Role in bringing drugs into Black neighborhoods, and the Jamaican shower posse which took a look at how drugs, politics and crime affected Jamaica and the U.S.

9. Reno 911. Comedy Central. Though it wasn’t a Black show, two of the main characters Jones and Williams were played by brilliant Black comedians, Cedric Yarbrough and Niecy Nash. This show combined hilarious improv, wacky characters, and crazy scenarios to create a truly hilarious show.

7. Da Ali G Show. HBO. Sacha Baron Cohen’s hilarious characters Ali G, Borat and Bruno and his ability to trick people into believing the characters where real made for a funny, thought provoking show.

4. Family Guy. FOX. A million jokes a minute, great voices, funny animation and funny scenarios have made Family Guy a guaranteed LOL.

3. The Boondocks. Cartoon Network. This show wasn’t scared to crack a joke or send a message. Whether it was MLK returning to use the n-word or BET turned into an evil organization bent on destroying black people.

Actor Lancer Reddick, former star of HBO’s critically acclaimed series, The Wire, told USmagazine that while he’d love to meet President Barack Obama, he isn’t “holding his breath” for an invitation to the White House. The President has stated that The Wire was one of his favorite shows.

Reddick, who is now on Fox’s The Fringe, also made some other confessions about his cameo in Jay-Z and Beyonce’s video for “Bonnie & Clyde.”

“Well, Jay-Z and the director were big fans of The Wire. They requested me specifically,” he says. ” I didn’t know who he was at first. And when I told my daughter, she just rolled her eyes and said, ‘Oh dad!’ Then after I did the video, I see there’s a billboard in Times Square with Jay-Z, I see Beyonce on the cover of Vibe. [Laughs.] I was really out of touch!”

Eamonn Walker’s name might not be too familiar here in the United States where he doesn’t have years of appearing on stage under his belt, but if you’re a long-time subscriber to HBO, it’ll be hard to forget him playing Kareem Said for all six seasons of Tom Fontana’s prison drama “Oz.”

Although Walker has been a regular presence on television (and stage) since that show went off the air, his film appearances have been few and far between, which is why one might not recognize him when he first appears on screen in his latest movie, Cadillac Records, which reunites him with former “Oz” director Darnell Martin. The movie’s a look at the early days of recorded blues at Chess Records, and Walker gives an amazing performance as legendary blues singer Howlin’ Wolf. The movie also stars Adrien Brody as Leonard Chess, the label’s co-founder, Jeffrey Wright as Muddy Waters, and Beyoncé Knowles as singer Etta James.

ComingSoon.net had a chance to sit down with Walker to talk about what went into playing the role of Howlin’ Wolf, as well as to learn a bit about his new NBC show “Kings” which starts airing next year.

CS: When you first appeared in the studio performing it really took me a second to realize it was you, even though I’ve seen every episode of “Oz” a number of times.
Eamonn Walker: You didn’t recognize me.

CS: I don’t know if it was the just the beard or just the situation, and I was really curious, do you have any kind of musical background whatsoever?
Walker: I’m a frustrated musician, I would go there. I sing in the bath, I’ve done the odd piece of singing here and there, but nothing what I would turn around and call myself a singer. I knew for this that I would have to step up, and really kind of dig in and find my voice.

CS: Did you just happen to find the script or your agent?
Walker: You may not know, but Darnell directed the pilot and the first two episodes of “Oz” so that’s where we met. My first big meeting at HBO was with Darnell Martin and twenty seven HBO executives, and I had to come in and read, and I read with her and we clicked straight away. It was a really amazing reading, because she’s a pretty good actress herself although nobody knows that. That’s how that came about and then all these years later, when she said she had some quite specific ideas in her head. I guess what popped up was working with me ’cause I can do intense I guess and she wanted this character to have an intensity about him as regards to the specific subject matter between he and Muddy Waters. If you watch this movie, you could take away from it that their whole relationship was this slice that you get, but it wasn’t, they played together, they loved each other, they respected each other on one level. It was like they became really great friends, and Willie Dixon, they all played together, all of them.

CS: Oh yeah, of course. It’s funny because he toured in the U.K. a lot, and I don’t know how old you are, but were you aware of him being there and playing with Clapton and others?
Walker: I’m in my 40s and no, I wasn’t aware of him at all. I mean my – I call him my surrogate father, John, because I adopted him and said, “I like listening to you.” Anyway, he was a big fan of Howlin’ Wolf, and so, I told him I was doing this film and I’m still apprehensive as to his reaction, because that was a criteria that I held high in my mind’s eye. Any of the music that I listen to or the kind of broader eclectic kind of thing came from him. That’s why I’m saying I was working in the Hope & Anchor with punk and all of that stuff. It’s because of that band my music is quite wide that I listen to. So, me playing this role and him being a huge Howlin’ Wolf fan specifically, and he really spoke about it. I was like, “Oh my God, I really don’t know what to do,” because there’s one person I cannot let down, it’s John.

Previously: ‘Is Mariah Carey Pregnant?!’

The actor, best known for his role as Cedric Daniels on HBO’s “The Wire,” says he was pleasantly surprised by her performance after the two filmed their first scene together – in which he shoves her up against a wall and grabs her face.

“She pulled it off,” Reddick tells People magazine. “She really took it seriously. She was committed to proving that she could do this.”

Having recently climbed to #4 on the NAACP’s 10 Most Wanted List, Soulja Boy Tell’em looks to shuffle, jig, whine and incoherently mumble his way back to the top of the Billboard charts with happy slave anthems “Turn My Swag On” and “Bird Walk.”

What can I say about Soulja Boy that hasn’t already been said about Uncle Ben and Aunt Jemima?

While those with actual “swag” already know that it never need be turned on, Soulja Boy continues to misguide a generation of newer, hungrier thugs that lack the code and discipline of old-school gangsters.

Sorry–I was watching The Wire last night. That’s not what I meant to say.

Surviving a minute or so of this song and visual representation may be as difficult as surviving a year of West African diamond mining. I only do it in hopes of being reunited with my family separated by the R.U.F.

Sorry–I was watching Blood Diamond too. Shoutout to Kimora!

On the subjects of Africa and the diamond cluster cereal shown in the music video, Tellem had some choice words for RMC correspondent Tameka Mexico-Barclays:

“Oh, yeah. After what I said to that one yellow book-learnted nigga [Toure] got blowed all outta [pro]portion, I really wanted to get in tune with my African side. I figures like eatin them diamonds would be like eatin they African souls seein’ as how they gave they lives so I could stay fly. So now they like a part of me, you dig?” -Soulja Boy

Dependent Nation of Africa’s press secretary, Kwame Mumbambu was unavailable for comment.

Ironically enough, lyrics like, “When I was 9 years old/ I put it on my head that I’mma die for this gold” provide sufficient communion and parallel between SB and his African counterparts whose ancestors know not the wonders of American enslavement.

Speaking of slavery, the “Berrrd Wawwlk” looks and sounds like something Chicken George would perform on-demand for massa’s entertainment.

I mean, it’s not like they had BET back then or anything. Hoofin’ hadn’t been digitized yet.

I think it’s hilarious that Soulja went with a football-themed video for “Bird Walk,” as I’ve always thought he looks like a malnourished Plaxico Burress. He smiles as wide for jewelry as a famished child in Sierra Leone does for that U.N. bag of grain–that is, before a local warlord intercepts the delivery.

Since we’re already on Deebo watch, I must say, that last dude shown bouncing up and down in the homie rollcall around 2:45 is entirely too old to be playin with these little niggas. Maybe he’s The Rock to their S.O.D. Money Gridiron Gang?

I apologize in advance for all of this. No, not for the slavery and Africa jokes. Seven minutes of Soulja Boy is a bit much to ask of anyone, so thanks for rockin with the hate.

See you Monday. Stay classy, San Diego.

Good luck wrapping your head around the nonsensical story at the center of Guy Ritchie’s latest London-based crime picture, RocknRolla.

Here’s what little I was able to piece together after a single viewing of this loud, obnoxious retread of Ritchie’s earlier movies, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. Okay, so there’s this London crime lord (Tom Wilkinson) eager to do a deal with some shady Eastern European types. But he needs some capital in order to convince them he’s on the up and up. Enter a pair of low-rent gangsters (300′s Gerard Butler and The Wire’s Idris Elba, talking in his native accent for once) who are deep in debt the big boss and end up stealing the cash from the aforementioned Europeans with the help of a hot-to-trot accountant (Thandie Newton). The crooks then pass this cash onto Wilkinson, who has already pissed off his prospective business partners by losing a valuable painting they loaned him. This priceless artwork was stolen by his own good-for-nothing son (Toby Kebbell), who moonlights as a rock star under the guidance of a pair of American producers/promoters (Jeremy Piven and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges).

Did you get all that? No? That’s okay, Ritchie doesn’t really care that much about the plot anyway. His main interest is trying to reignite his stalled career by cribbing shamelessly from Tarantino, Danny Boyle and many other, far more talented filmmakers. RocknRolla does have one inspired chase sequence, in which Bulter flees a pair of unstoppable Eastern European strongmen, but it’s surrounded by a lot of flash and noise that turns the film into an endurance test rather than a piece of escapist entertainment.
