The 15th Annual Urbanworld Film Festival (www.urbanworld.org), presented by BET Networks has added Mario Van Peebles’ All Things Fall Apart to its lineup. The film, starring Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in a transformative role as a star college football player, joins a diverse slate of nearly 60 films that will be featured at the New York-based festival from September 14-18, 2011 at AMC 34th Street in midtown Manhattan. The screening of All Things Fall Apart takes place Friday, September 16 at 7:30pm, followed by a Q&A with director Peebles and actress Lynn Whitfield.

Additionally, comedian Chris Rock will be in attendance to support the world premiere of Diane Paragas’ and Nelson George’s Brooklyn Boheme (Spike Lee, Chris Rock, Branford Marsalis, Rosie Perez, Saul Williams), Urbanworld’s Opening Night Selection.

Festival-goers this year will enjoy a variety of shorts and features dealing with relevant hot topics such as human rights (Kinyarwanda), war (Make a Movie Like Spike), prison (Love Lockdown), and the various perspectives of a “New York state of mind” (Brooklyn Boheme).

50 Cent lost 50 pounds for his role in the film Things Fall Apart.  In the movie, he plays a football player who is dying of cancer.  This week, a new photo of 50 Cent on the set of the movie leaked to the internet showing the actor/rapper in a hospital bed.

No release date for the film, which also stars Ray Liotta, has been confirmed.

Detroit HOT 102.7’s Big Greg snuck backstage at 50 Cent’s Concert in Detroit on Saturday night to see what the hell is up with 50 and those CRAZY cancer patient lookin’ pictures!

50 explained that the role in the movie Things Fall Apart was inspired by a friend of his who died of Cancer.

Okayplayer.com’s Ginger Lynn received an email from ?uestlove of The Roots detailing a recent bus crash they experienced while touring in Europe. Underlining just how dedicated ?uest is to his fans he shot off a rather entertaining blog about the whole thing:
well…since we are sitting on the side of the road. what better way to pass the time while the ambulance comes then to….blog.

–actually i spoke too soon….the above was written an hour ago. now im in a roadside motel trying to make sense of this all. the last things i remember are eating 2 pieces of cold pizza and a bowl of rice krispies and watching will ferrel’s nuts dance on top of john c. riley’s drumset in step brothers. because it was the ghetto bootleg barbershop version i was more or less wondering when the guy in the theater was going to say “watch….this is the good part” to me as the movie went on.

as usual i fell asleep. now normally i woulda been working overtime in preparing my dj set for my paris afterparty on friday but something actually said “meh leave it alone”–

i don’t wanna get all deep like it was an omen but those that know me (look at my twit/facebook/myspace/okayplayer/blip history) know that when not onstage i am glued to my computer, doing some sort of activity like converting music or tv shows. but this was a rare occurrence in which i actually went to sleep.

next thing i knew was the most surreal feeling ever….

was i upside down?

why am i covered in cereal?
