Just weeks after mourning the deaths of Don Cornelius and Etta James, the entertainment world was rocked by the untimely passing of the incomparable Whitney Houston on February 11, 2012. She was 48 years old.

“Sparkle” Producer Speaks On Casting Whitney Houston

Here are just some of the outpourings of concern and condolences on Twitter from those that new her and were impacted by her gifts.

Clive Davis:

By now you have all learned of the unspeakably tragic news of our beloved Whitney’s passing. I don’t have to mask my emotion in front of a room full of so many dear friends. I am personally devastated by the loss of someone who has meant so much to me for so many years.

Whitney was so full of life. She was so looking forward to tonight even though she wasn’t scheduled to perform. She loved music and she loved this night that celebrates music.

My heart goes out to her daughter Bobbi Christina, to her mother Cissy, to all of her relatives and to so many of you here tonight, her extended family who loved and cherished her and her spirit.

Whitney was a beautiful person and a talent beyond compare. She graced this stage with her regal presence and gave so many memorable performances here over the years. Simply put, Whitney would have wanted the music to go on and her family asked that we carry on.

I ask that you join me in a moment of silence as we dedicate this evening to Whitney.

In other adult entertainment news, actor-turned-rapper Pinky XXX dispelled rumors that she had contracted HIV. An article was published claiming that she had contracted the disease from actor named Darren James who retired from porn in 2004 after testing positive for HIV. However, Pinky didn’t begin filming porn until 2006.

“It doesn’t surprise me how ignorant people are on the net anymore,” she wrote on her twitter page. “Ya’ll say anything for some attention. Sad something so negative would trend smh. Y’all so f*ckn stupid. Read the fabricated article. I wasn’t even in the game when that n*gga Darrian or whatever his name is caught it. duh.”

UPDATE:

It appears that speaking out on Twitter didn’t get the message across, so Pinky created a home video to speak on the situation once and for all.

Comedian and actor Kevin Hart is enjoying a great run of success. Between his stand up movies like Laugh At My Pain, Ford commercials and even a rom-com Think Like A Man, you’d think he could do no wrong. But in this interview with The Breakfast club he talks about how much rejection he’s suffered on the way to critical acclaim.
“I’ve been a part of six or seven canceled TV shows,” he says. “My shows have been canceled so violently. I remember ABC picked up my show called “The Big House.” They told me the show was picked up and flew me out to the upfronts to announce the fall season. I was creator, executive producer…I was gettin’ all kinds of checks so I flew the cast with me..It wasn’t about me, I had a cast. I got my suit on, they about to go live on TV, I get ready to step out and this white guy with a head set put his hand on my chest and said ‘Mr. Hart they’re not picking it up, move to the side. Somebody will come to out to explain it to you. We’ll pay for your flight back.’ I said what about my cast? And they said ‘we didn’t bring them.’”

He also discusses the friendly “beef” with Mike Epps on Twitter .

A tweet has been circulating with Keri Baby saying that she’d been attacked with a stack of Beyonce CDs in the street. While the visual is chuckle inducing, the singer denies it really happened.

“Fake tweet, fake story. Photo-shop is a helluva drug lol,” she wrote on her account. “When ppl use so much of their own time and effort to prove that they hate you, they must realize it has the opposite effect! Thanks for the laugh!! Now cut & paste yourself a life.”

It’s official. Twitter has taken over as the trash talking medium of the world. Undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather publicly challenged Manny Pacquiao to a fight on the social network.

“Manny Pacquiao I’m calling you out,” he wrote. “Let’s fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see.”

Pacquiao vs Mayweather is the one boxing match that fans want to see. Mayweather has never taken a loss and Pacquiao is the one fighter many think can end that streak.

Mayweather was supposed to serve a 90 day sentence for domestic violence, but in a strange twist of irony, a judge a greed to postpone the jail sentence to give Mayweather an opportunity to fight.

“My Jail Sentence was pushed back because the date was locked in,” he taunted. “Step up Punk.”

Mayweather’s last fight ended with a controversial knock out of Victor Ortiz where he dropped the fighter to the canvas after Ortiz dropped his guard. The bell had rung signaling the start of the round so the punches were legal.

Singer Anthony Hamilton was attempting to connect with his fans today on his twitter page by recalling memories of growing up with very little. The South Carolina native used examples of sharing clothes with his siblings with the hashtag #BackToLove to promote his new album of the same title.

But one tweet in particular got a mixed reaction from some of his followers: “Remember using your Mama’s bath water after she did?! Let’s get #BackToLove.”

After a chorus of negative comments the Tweet is now missing from his timeline and the twitter equivalent of “Iwasjustplayin” has been posted: “Makin sure ya’ll awake!#Backtolove”

Film and television actress, Regina King, will add Social Media Ambassador to her resume. King will be the face of the Screen Actors Guild Awards to their online audience. Regina will update SAG’s Facebook and Twitter feeds as the ceremony airs live. This gives fans an access to the show like they’ve never had before.

King will announce the nominations on December 14th on TNT.tv and TBS.com. In the weeks leading up to the telecast, she will update Facebook and Twitter feeds discussing behind the scenes preparations for the show and also divulge information on who will be presenting. A cool part of King’s Ambassador role is that she will be able to discuss red carpet fashions as the stars arrive.

Heavy D‘s unexpected death today in Los Angeles has stunned his family, friends and fans, and his last tweets have taken on an eerie feel.

After boxing legend Joe Frazier succumbed to liver cancer, Heavy tweeted, “Gods speed, Mr Frazier” and described him as “truly one of the best heavyweight champs that ever lived.”

Two hours after sending out a message acknowledging the passing of Frazier, Heavy simply stated, “Be inspired.”

Heavy D will undoubtedly be missed, and we wish him a peaceful journey.

Although Twitter is a great way to network and stay up to date with your favorite celebrities, it has become the number social media platform for foolery.

There are millions of people around the world using Twitter daily and sometimes things can get a bit out of hand. We have seen celebrity feuds and beefs live on Twitter. However Twitter will keep you laughing until your stomach is hurting. One of the funniest things about Twitter are the parody accounts that get created. Most of the time your favorite celebrity are the butt of those jokes.

@Drakes_Eyebrows- Now you know someone had to create an acount about Drake’s eyebrows.

@TyreseWisdoms- Tyrese has become the r&b Rev. Run on Twitter. He seems to always have something inspirational to tweet about. Things have gotten so bad that people who follow Tyrese has started to complain. Just like Tyrese this Parody account can’t spell. “TI goes to gel for riding on a bus and Gucci Mane goes to gel for throw a battery. Shit is #FUCKEDUP”

@NotGaryBusey- This parody account is not Gary Busey. One of the first parody accounts in honor of a celebrity but not the celebrity. I know it doesn’t make sense but just like Gary Busey this Twitter account is wacky as all hell. “Can you get a DUI riding a dog? I need to know because I’m drunk and your mom wants to come over. #BOOM”

@ChrisBrownBowTie- When Chris Brown appeared on Larry King wearing a blue bow tie everyone on Twitter had jokes. Moments later the infamous Bow Tie had a Twitter account of its own. Chris Brown recently released his rap mixtape and maybe he got the idea from this Twitter account. “go head ask Rhi how my left hand feel / baby run away with me / f**k that Def Jam deal”

@WaynesJeggins- Creted after Lil’ Wayne debut his now famous jeggins on 2011′s VMAs. This parody account has some self esteem issue. Wayne’s Jeggins wants to be worn more often. “i got da perfect outfit for da Hip-Hop Awards … Sum Red & White vans , a pair of us Jeggings , @RayJ_Hoodie & a Bulls Snapback #MAJORSWAG”

@BeyonceJayFetus- Seems like the entire world has been waiting for Jay-Z and Beyonce to get pregnant. The two finally announced the good news at the 2011 VMAs and world just can’t stop talking about it. “Grandpa Matthew is trying to sign me as a client already. Coco Tweets About Wardrobe Malfunction

Earlier this week Ice-T’s wife Coco made headlines when she had a wardrobe malfunction at a Richie Rich fashion show. Anyone who follows Coco on twitter (@cocosworld) knows she is hardly shy when it comes to her chesticles, but wanted to explain that this was NOT done purposely.

“I walked the runway for the Richie Rich Fashion yesterday and I didn’t have a proper fitting and the silky dress I wore slipped down under my boob,” she wrote. ” My right boob popped out like it was trying to say hello to everybody but I quickly stuffed it back in then acted like nothing happened. I swear I didn’t mean for my boob slip to happen. It was just as shocking to me. But hey, sometimes you have to say it is ‘T*tty Tuesday.’”

Coco has a weekly event on her Twitter feed dedicated to her boobs and another on Thursdays featuring photos of her in thongs. However, she felt this DD-Cup display was not intentional and should not be taken too seriously.

“I woke up this morning and it’s the news of the century for some odd reason. People bombarded me with calls, emails…I’m like come on, seriously. IT’S A BOOB! We all have them. Can’t we talk about starvation in the world or Cancer?”

We could, but it wouldn’t be nearly as entertaining as “T*tty Tuesday.” Despite her insisting it wasn’t important, she later posted a video of the clip on Youtube, which was removed.

Who knew that Jennifer Hudson was a thug! She was engaged in a pretty intense Twitter Beef with one of her followers/haters. According to MediaTakeOut.com, @1984Lips4Daze asked J. Hud a question on the social network and Jennifer responded with “lol u funny! Thank you for your hate n clearly the gym ain’t working for u cuz u look a mess.” That’s when all hell broke loose and @1984Lips4Daze pulled a Nas “Ether” move. Bandwagon Fans: What Jay-Z, Rihanna, and White Girl Mob Have in Common

This past Monday’s eve at 11:59 EST, the twitterverse was abuzz with word that Jay Z and Kanye West ‘s Watch the Throne was the best album to be released this year, and possibly the decade. Thousands of hundreds on Facebook agreed. Nothing wrong with being a committed fan, but seeing as it was one of the first highly anticipated albums of the millennium to avoid the plague of premature leakage, my eyebrow immediately raised with the realization the majority of people proclaiming the project’s awesomeness were doing so before they had even heard a single track beyond “Otis.” Instantaneously iconic, when the clock did strike midnight heralding in August 8^th, a moment in music’s history officially began as “Hov” and ‘Ye are now tracked to sell more than 500,000 copies, and poised to break iTunes one week sales record which was previously set by Coldplay in 2008.

So here’s the question. Was the music driving the fans or were the fans driving the music? Consider this. A few weeks ago, controversy ensued after news broke that Rihanna had ousted Lady Gaga as Most Popular Mistress on Facebook with a timely boost of 100,000 fan “likes.” What once used to be college play has turned into big business. Pulling receipts, Boston-based viral marketing firm ViralMS.com, which offers a service that allows users to purchase Facebook “fans,” confirmed that for $7,799 someone had indeed bought Rihanna’s popularity for a very specific reason. Perception is Everything. Gaga fans were shook and outraged. Millions of Rihanna fans felt duped. But how mad can one really be when they have allowed their value of an artist to be largely based on how much someone else values them first? Known as “The bandwagon effect,” scientist say the phenomenon occurs when people often do and believe things merely because many other people do and believe the same things. This is the very odd era we now find ourselves living in.

Which brings us to White Girl Mob. Called “Multimedia Artists”, these three ladies are each very…special. Their online “following” has built them higher than any lyrical foundation they could ever attempt to lay claim to. However the interest in their social status had enough pull that WGM member Kreayshawn signed to Columbia Records earlier this summer with an originally rumored one million dollar recording contract. Feel free to check out one of her illustrious freestyles for yourself and decide if you think she is the proverbial real deal or a great example the bandwagon fan effect is having on the music industry (LINK).

The truth is the dynamic of fans/followers holds major weight in today’s world. Whether one is a superstar artist with record labels shelling out big bucks to secure their social stock; an out of work job seeker looking for employment in a social currency focused economy; or simply a pre-pubescent 7^th grader in a small town trying to figure life out. None of us are immune.

Try this quick self-check. Do you count your twitter followers? If so how often? Clock your FB comment likes? Toggle your tumblr #’s on the weekly if not daily? If so, what do these numbers tell you about yourself? If not, how have you avoided the “Bandwagon Effect” so many are succumbing to? We are now forced to contemplate a question very similar to the age old chicken or the egg conundrum…what came first, the artist or the fans?

As for Jay Z and Kanye’s Watch the Throne, I still plan to listen to it…but decided I’m going to wait a bit until the echoing chorus of the band fades out allowing me to better hear their music for myself…

I apologize to all my fans,” said 50. “I will work with other artist on there projects but I will not put out another album,” he continued, eventually ending with ““I LOVE DRE but I’m putting his next single psycho out tomorrow at 2:00 #SK.” “Your gonna love it its a big song I just don’t think it deserves a great set up sense they can’t seem to get it right when it comes to me.”

Sounds like 50 needs to start looking for a new record label immediately.

Last night, Keri Hilson was out partying with a Amy Winehouse Look a like. She shared a twitpic of the two with her followers, “Gasp* Amy Winehouse resurrected to party w/ me!!! (seriously, uncanny resemblance).” Keri received tons of angry tweets from Amy Winehouse fans who felt the tweet was insensitive. Keri later apologized for the tweet.

Come on, I mean no harm. All due respect. But really the resemblance freaked me out. This was simply the best tribute ever. #RIPAMYWINEHOUSE

Amy Winehouse was buried this morning in London. She was found dead in her apartment Sunday July 24. Many suspected her cause of death were due to drugs but nothing was found in her home. The results of Amy’s autopsy was found inconclusive. Officials are currently waiting for her toxicology results.

Today many of Amy Winehouse’s peers are mourning the loss of another musical talent. The singer was found dead in her London apartment by local officials. Several of her supporters and collaborators tweeted their condolences and frustration over her death.

“R.I.P Sis. Why u couldn’t chill??? ,” wrote Nas, who was spotted hanging out with Winehouse recently, “Why the f*ck u leave? Love U Sis!”

Collaborator Salaam Remi kept his thoughts simple. “R.I.P my baby sis Cherry Winehouse. Love ya Always.”

Mark Ronson, who won a Grammy for his work with Winehouse, wrote: “She was my musical soulmate & like a sister to me. This is one of the saddest days of my life.”

?uestlove, who was planning to form a super group with Winehouse, tweeted what appeared to be a text message he received from Amy after she performed with her god daughter.

“…I saw my goddaughter onstage tonight in Camden. So proud there ain’t no words. Really like to cal you if I could.” He dated the message at 7:22pm on July 21, 2011.

Pharoahe Monch, who performed a remix to “Rehab”, wrote that he was looking forward to new music from her.

“R.I.P. Amy Winehouse. I was just thinking the other day how I was really missing her music and wanting a new project. :(”

MCs Jean Grea and Roxanne Shante were surprisingly personal in their comments about the impact Winehouse’s music had on their lives.

“Amy made me feel not alone,” Grae shared. ” She saved my life on several occasions. I can’t say anymore right now.

Shante added, “Amy’s Album got me thru 1 of the worst times of my life I told her that & her reply was I wish it would get me thru mine =(”
