Willie D, real name William Dennis, was caught in a sting operation in May  2009 after fronting a company called Texas One Wireless and selling purported iPhones, but never sending the product to customers, according to an FBI report.

United States Attorney José Angel Moreno and FBI Special Agent in Charge Richard C. Powers made the announcement late afternoon on November 2.

Willie D was sentenced at a hearing before United States District Court Judge Gray Miller who committeed the rapper to 12 months and one day in federal prison.

In court, Willie D admitted to acting as an electronics salesman via eBay.

Willie D was ordered to pay $194,087.17 in restitution, the amount that 35 people were scammed between September of 2008 and April 2009.

Houston rap legend and former Geto Boys member Willie D. appeared in a Houston court today (December 18), where he formally pleaded guilty to wire fraud related to a fake company, Texas One Wireless.

Willie D., born William Dennis pleaded guilty to the charge, which stemmed from an international scam the rapper was running on customers who were attempting to buy iPhones and other electronics on eBay.

The rapper scammed over 29 people out of $132,000. The victims ordered the phones in bulk, made payments and then received phony tracking numbers.

Rappers Rick Ross and Z-Ro have expressed their appreciation for Geto Boys’ Willie D, despite his current legal woes, with an upcoming concert this week in Texas.

While their attendance has yet to be confirmed, both Ross and Z-Ro have publicly announced their support for the rapper.

“It’s the Boss, Ricky Ross man,” he said in a promo video for the event. “Shout-out to Willie D. This is the official tribute right here, you hear me? It’s going down in a major way, H-town stand up.”

The rapper was indicted last week on multiple counts of wire fraud stemming from an iPhone scam last year.

Rapper William “Willie D” Dennis, aka Willie D, was indicted Tuesday by a grand jury on 15 counts of wire fraud. The investigation leading to Dennis’ arrest came after one of the overseas purchasers filed a complaint with law enforcement authorities. Wire fraud carries a maximum punishment, upon conviction, of 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine. Geto Boys member William “Willie D” Dennis has been indicted on several counts of wire fraud from an iPhone scam.

According to MyFox News, the rapper was indicted by a grand jury on 15 counts of wire fraud. An overseas purchaser filed a complaint with authorities, which initiated the case.

As previously reported, wire fraud carries a maximum punishment of up to 20 years in prison, as well as a $250,000 fine.

Willie D is currently out on bail after being taken in by authorities last month. The rapper was arrested at Bush Intercontinental Airport following a trip from overseas.

Yonkers Hip-Hop star DMX is free after serving over 90 days in jail on drug, fraud, and animal cruelty charges, a representative confirmed with AllHipHop.com. The rapper was released from “Tent City,” aka the Maricopa County Jail, late yesterday afternoon (May 13).

DMX’s conviction and prison sentence was a culmination of a 2008 filled with legal woes. The rapper’s last arrest resulted in an extradition back to Phoenix after attempting to hide out in producer Scott Storch’s Florida mansion.

Originally, DMX, born Earl Simmons, was to serve only 90 days in jail. His tenure was extended when he faced additional charges for allegedly assaulting a corrections officer over a food dispute. During his incarceration, X revealed plans to start a Christian ministry upon his release.

Former Dipset rapper/hook specialist Max B began his murder trial today (May 14) in Bergen County, New Jersey. Prosecutors accuse Max, real name Charly Wingate, with plotting a botched robbery that left one man dead in September 2006.

According to Assistant Bergen County Prosecutor Martin Delaney, Max B conspired with his ex-girlfriend (Gina Conway) and a stepbrother (Kelvin Leerdam) to rob two men (Allan Plowden and David Taylor) at a Holiday Inn on Route 4. The night of the homicide, authorities claim Max B, Conway, and Leerdam ambushed Allen Plowden in his hotel room, duct taping him and a female companion.

According to the Houston Press, Willie D. posed as an electronic salesman and used eBay to interact with international buyers. He conducted businesses transactions independent and outside of eBay, and allegedly took numerous orders for iPhones and other electronics.

Fox 26 in Houston hosted Willie D and his new protégés on its morning show Friday. The trio, known as Huntzville, discussed and performed their controversial single “Backpack Fulla Gunz.”

After the group performed the song—which discusses school shootings from the shooter’s point of view—Fox 26 posted an apology on its web site.

“FOX 26 apologizes to those viewers who were offended by the musical group Huntzville’s performance during Friday’s morning show,” the statement read.

As of press time, Huntzville has not issued a statement.
