They both have talent. I like both, but given a choice Mary would be my first choice.

Now don’t get me wrong. I love Mary and I’m one of her biggest fans. Her songs saw me through alot of pain. Not every singer has that ability to touch fans through songs that way she does. BUT…..I personally think that by not allowing Keisha to sing in Mary’s honor due to the reasons mentioned, it’s telling the world that Keisha has the ability to have something better than what Mary has. The fans are going to think that Keisha sang Mary’s song better than Mary did. That’s like i’m up for a promotion to be manager and the managers who are already there will do whats necessary not to showcase my management talents because they feel threatened of my abilities and insecure of their own. I just think it shows a certain type of insecurity on Mary and Kendu…esp Kendu. There maybe more to the story but based on what’s put out there, I think it was not a good management decision. If insecurity is the issue, it should make Mary and Kendu step their game up professionally. In my opinion, i like some of Keisha’s songs but Mary will always be the Queen of Hip Hop Soul to me. Experience speaks volumes and Mary does not have a damn thing to worry about.

Mary has been my girl sll my life. I have loved her for her passion and her realism. But when she started Mary couldnt sing either. Being a vocalist myself I know the struggle of a maturing voice. The truth of the matter is that every vocalist has good times and bad times. If it were not for the tremendously well written songs that Mary sang when she came into the game she wouldnt have made it. In my opinion Keyshia is coming into the game at the same level that Mary has just arrived at. I say this loving Mary. I hated her music for a long time! Maybe it was the drugs but just recently did I find that there was substance and power in her voice. As much as I love Mary I think that you should never put down and judge someone else. When Mary first started alot of critics said that she cant sing. Hell I said she couldn’t sing when she first came out. But mary has grown into a well respected artist. I respect her now more than I ever did. Keyshia Cole has grown in young career so far. I’m very impressed with her develpment. Mary has paid her dues in this tough industry so she has earned the right to say what she feels but, at the same time it does not give her the right to say that an artist cant sing while that artist has proven themselves with platinum record sales and strong fan base. Instead of tearing each other down they need to work together. Most of the time when artists come out with new trends or new directions they get it from working with other artists with more or less experience. It’s a lot of famale’s in the game that can’t sing, and the only reason they got a deal is because of how they look.Ok look at Ashanti she cant sing or dance,now what happened to Keyshia cole was mess up but sometime when she sings live she doesnt sound good. I get very tired of all the faux drama over some perceived slight and some ensuing cattiness by someone else. There’s enough real drama in the world, especially in the entertainment world, we don’t need to manufacture anymore.

I think that was very unprofessional on Kendu’s part. I don’t think that Keisha is trying to emulate Mary at all. They both are God given talents and both may have had there ups and downs with there voice, but rest assure at the end of the day they both have prevailed.

Reality is, before Mary got off drugs she could barely carry a note in a bucket. As she’s gotten older she’s improved alot. I’m a Mary and Keyshia fan. Back in the day Mary was one of the few singing about heart break and relationships. She came at us on some real neighborhood s##t. Mary and Keyshia sound horrible live. Keyshia first album was about her struggles and heart break also. You see a change in both of them as more albums dropped. Mary found happiness so she started singing about the joy of love and relation. Some people are still in a place where they not married etc.. and dont wanna hear that. Keyshia new album is horrible, love her but it just didn’t move me. If it’s controversy maybe Keyshia shouldn’t have done the tribute. Me personally I would have past cause I wouldn’t feel the need to proove myself and just to avoid the drama.

I have always been a fan of Mary J. Blige and can easily relate to any of her songs. Each song has a different style and sound to it, whereas Keyshia Cole sings about the same thing almost every song. I like Keyshia Cole, but she needs to get some happiness in her life. Life is not always about the sad things in life. I’ve been through a lot, but always manage to find the good things in life.

The only comparison is that both ladies are from the hood and are ghetto divas who got the oppurtunity to show their talent to get them out the hood. I’ve been a fan of MJB since 1991 when “What’s the 411″ came out. I also loved Keyshia’s first album “The Way It Is”, but I really don’t think Mary should bash Keyshia like that. Now that’s how u know when people get big headed. Now the younger artist looks up to the older one and then gets dissed for it. I believe if Mary doesn’t change her ways, she will be put to sleep musically.

I would say that both woman are good at what they do. Neither one is better then the other and for there to be a comparsion to each other there it isn’t any. MJB has her own style about herself as well as Keyshia.Each one them are sucessful at what they do. Yes MJB has been around along time and she has come threw hell and high waters just like everyone else. So this shows you what money and power can do to people. MJB might have been an inspiration to Keyshia while she was striving to get where she is today. As for Mrs. Bliges husband he’s just taken it to serious it’s like he’s the woman in all of this. I guess he has to play his part if he wants to keep this sucessful woman and her money.

I say that MJB needs to quit being insecure and give props were its due. KC is doing it and it has not been easy for her. I mean it’s not like she came out saying that she was another MJB or anything. She has her own sound and style they just happen to have the same hair color and length. I am a big fan of both women. Both women have a talent. I remember back n the day when ppl first heard MJB sing n concert ppl said she couldnt sing. But thru it all where is she now.Ladies we need to encourage each other to be the best we can be. Pls be kind to one another. God blessed both ladies with a talent that reaches beyond just singing, these women inspire. MJB no one can take your place. You are the one and only MJB. In my opinion Keyshia is hands down a better singer than Mary but I also listen to Mary. It seems as if Mary may see Keyshia as a threat. They are both very talented and they have a different fan base, so it really does not matter how Mary and Kendu feel they both are still going to sell records and still get paid. I enjoy Mary J. She is an asset to the music industry. I agree with some of you, Keisha is a good artist that makes hits but without the studio she is kinda off. I’ve heard Keisha in concert several times, each time things didn’t sound all that on point. I’ve heard Mary J. many times and she rocked it from beginning to end. Mary J has come along ways, I’m sure at someone point Mary was just like Keisha starting out. That’s what society fails to realize. Keisha, still has room to grow in 10 or 15 years, she too will sound great outside of the studio.

Albums were great on the ears, award show performs hard to watch. Just like Mary has evolved and is now coordinated in doing both at the same time, Keysia will be too, she works hard and is very dedicated. It’s hard to hear that Mary forgot where she came from though, but she is entitled to her own opinions. Still could’ve picked a better stand in than Monica, I saw the show and was ready for her to be done way before she was. Again, great albums to listen to, but not so good on the live performances.

I know that everybody is entitle to their own opinion and true, some people just can’t get with everybody singing. Hay, back in the day, I really didn’t like MJ’s singing but it grew on me. After she had taken singing lessons and her lyrics changed drastically, I begin liking her. So MJ, try introducing some of your song writers to her and see if that will change your mind.

I think the comparison of Keyshia to Mary J (the younger Mary) is a compliment to them both. Keyshia has that grit and that pain that Mary had when she first came out. They don’t have those pitch perfect voices…they just have something in that voice, something that speaks to people’s experiences…born from the pain they’ve been through. Keyshia does remind me of a young Mary J…and that ain’t a bad thang. I think Kendu was way wrong for that one…the comparisons aren’t because Keyshia immitates Mary…just a similarity in what they bring to the stage, how they deliver a song, and the affects they have on their fans…even without perfectly trained voices. It’s like…if they started singing perfectly tomorrow…they would lose that edge and appeal that keeps their fans coming back.

FOR HER TO SAY THAT K C CAN’T SING, I THINK THAT IS HER OPINION THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE EVER GOT OUT, BECAUSE THAT IS HURTFUL EVEN MORE COMING FROM SOMEONE YOU ADMIR. NOW HOW WOULD MARY HAD FELT IF ANITA BAKER SAID THAT ABOUT HER? YOU MY GIRL MARY BUT DON’T FORGET WHERE YOU COME FROM. YOU HAVE GROWN OVER THE YEARS, AND IT TOOK YOU A WHILE TO GET THERE. I like Mary J. Blige and Keisha Cole. I have Keisha Cole 2nd cd which is the bomb. Keisha Cole has a very nice voice. At point and time Mary J. Blige could not sing well and had to have more voice lessons. I don’t see how people are comparing Keisha Cole to Mary J. Blige. They are completely to different women with different style and taste. Most singers do not sound real good when they sing live. Mary might feel jealous and threaten by the up and coming out Keisha.

I like Mary J’s music although I don’t think that she can sing, even though her songs have a lot of real talk in them,when she is performing live she sounds terrible. Keyshia on the other hand is a new Hot frest face and she can sing on stage and off without a whole lot of vocal changes. I think that both women rock it in two different ways and each deserves props for making it to where they are. Mary need to quit tripping she knows how hard the industry is!!!!…
