Prince [click here to read] taped a sit-down interview with Tavis Smiley [click here to read] for the journalist’s PBS talk show that will run over the course of two shows, beginning tonight.

Among the many topics discussed is how he dealt with other kids teasing him as a child.

“Of course I went into self and I taught myself music,” said the artist. “My father left the piano in the house when he left, and I wasn’t allowed to play it when he was there because I wasn’t as good as him. So when he left, I was determined to get as good as him.”
