What: On Monday morning, August 18, 1969, the last day of the Woodstock Festival, headliner Jimi Hendrix closed his two hour set by performing a searing rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” on his electric guitar. The performance is considered a defining moment of the 60s and Hendrix would be dead a little over a year later.
