Rapper Foxy Brown recently posted a blog entry speaking on her early days in hip-hop with Jay-Z and her experiences being locked up at Rikers Island prison last year.

Offering fans a recollection of memories, Brown recalls her ‘Bonnie & Clyde’ relationship with the hip-hop mogul.

15 years old,” she wrote. “Brookly…So, young Inga, young Shawn, Brooklyn’s Bonnie and Clyde…I created a f*ckin’ hip-hop classic…”Ain’t No N*gga!” And I finally got my name. The one and only Foxy Brown. Bad girl of rap..Fast forward the tape a number of years…On Riker’s Island. Looking at an eight-month bid. Since Shyne got 9, hip-hop’s been on trial…It was during those 23 hours, EVERYDAY, that I looked long and hard at myself. Who I was…from young Inga to Foxy Brown to a number on a docket…I learned to be grateful…grateful to be given another chance. And now I just got tho show and prove…not to the world, but to myself.” (Global Grind)

Foxy served eight months of a one-year sentence and was released on April 18, 2008.

This is a big day for me,” Brown told SOHH. “To have everybody here that I love, my whole family, the whole Brooklyn, the officers that took care of me at Rikers. Eight months to the day, I remember going in August and I said when I come out, I’m coming out even better. And I’m back baby, it’s a wrap.” (SOHH)

While the femcee has not been on good terms with fellow Brooklynite Lil’ Kim, they have more and more in common these days. In addition to jail time, Foxy and Lil’ Kim were sued over advance money for books that were never released.

The Brooklyn emcees were both paid advances by Simon & Schuster, Inc. for books expected to have already hit shelves. Foxy was allegedly given $75,000 in ’05 for an exclusive autobiography titled Broken Silence that was scheduled for completion by Feb 2006. Kim was handed $40,000 in ’03 for a novel due by June 2004. Although they were legally required to complete the books, both rap vixens served jail time shortly after signing their deals. (Newsday)
