According to studies, flying is the safest form of travel. Regardless, how safe flying is, there’s always that chance something happens before take off. Either it’s the screaming kids kicking the back of your seat or the person who is nursing a cold sneezing all over the place. While all of the aforementioned scenarios are commonplace, getting escorted off an aircraft has become the new crotch shot for celebrities.

The Urban Daily decided to round up some celebrity flying horror stories. The reasons range from the asinine to racial. Buckle your seat belt as we take to the not so friendly skies.

Kevin Smith

The writer/director from New Jersey has always played the portly side kick in 90s suburban classics like Clerks and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Southwest Airlines wasn’t in agreement with the extra weight Smith was carrying with him and asked him to exit a 2010 flight because he violated the company’s “customers of size” policy, which is a nice way of saying if you’re fat, buy two seats.

Naomi Campbell

Is anybody surprised to find the British supermodel on a list of people who got kicked off a plane? She can’t find a good assistant anymore because nobody wants to get busted in the head with a cell phone. Naomi Campbell’s 2008 plane altercation involved airline staff and London police officers. Campbell was handcuffed for abusing a flight stewardess and  spitting on a cop. The prettiest people do the ugliest things.

Michael Colyar

The name Michael Colyar might be unfamiliar. You probably know him as “hey, that’s that guy from that movie.” A few months ago, United Airlines referred to him as “Hostile Customer on Flight #UA382.” Colyar maintains he was treated like a felon for refusing to move his bag from an overhead storage space to accommodate a late arriving white passenger. Colyar took the  internet to blast the air company. In the most scathing of statements, the actor wrote, “If “Don’t ask questions, just throw the n****r off the plane” is the post 9-11 policy than black folks should seek out other airlines.” He ain’t never lied!

Leisha Hailey

The actress best known for her role on the Showtime hit series, The ‘L’ Word, alleges she was kicked off a Southwest airlines flight for kissing her girlfriend. Being of the digital age, Hailey took to her Twitter to call for a boycott of the airline. The actress tweeted, “Since when is showing affection to someone you love illegal?” Southwest Airlines replied with a statement saying, “Initial reports indicate that we received several passenger complaints characterizing the behavior as excessive. Our crew, responsible for the comfort of all Customers on board, approached the passengers based solely on behavior and not gender.” Somebody is lying . Who do you think it is?

Mo’Nique

The actress/comedian has often been praised for her warm and M.I.A. when she got into an argument with a flight attendant over-of all things- a hair dryer. United Airlines had the Oscar winner tossed off for verbally abusing the airline staff. Mo’Nique later blamed the 2006 incident on racism. She released a statement communicating, “I felt like I was being treated like an animal. This happens to black people all the time, and they don’t have a voice. It was humiliating.”A United Airlines rep repsonded by trying to sweep the issue under the rug. Their response to Mo’Nique was, “We regret Ms. Imes-Hicks felt in any way that she was not treated with courtesy and respect. There was a confrontation involving a customer that caused the flight to be delayed. When a situation occurs on a flight that causes a delay, or disruption, we must act in the best interest of all our customers.” Sounds like a backwards a** apology to me.
