Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu was fined $10,000 by the NFL for using a cell phone on the sidelines during a game. Polamalu left last Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with concussion-like symptoms after tackling running back Maurice Jones-Drew. After Polamalu was examined by physicians he borrowed one of their cell phones to call his wife and let her know that he was doing fine.

What he didn’t expect was a FINE.

It is against the rules to have a cell phone on the field during the game and Polamalu was hit with a $10,000 penalty.  His coach Mike Tomlin came to his defense saying “He wasn’t checking his bank account.”

On the bright side, Polamalu is in good health and will be playing this Sunday against the 1 and 4 Arizona Cardinals.
