Don Cornelius' Death Officially Ruled Suicide
The Los Angeles County Department of Coroner has ruled the death of Soul Train creator and host Don Cornelius as a suicide. The coroner officials issued the ruling on Tuesday, nearly a week after the television pioneer reportedly killed himself with a fatal gunshot to the head. The agency made the determination following an autopsy of Cornelius’ body last Friday. Investigators are still awaiting results from the toxicology tests before they issue their final report.
There were numerous tributes took place across the country over the weekend in honor of Don Cornelius. Don’s son, Tony Cornelius, thanked fans for their support and asked for privacy in a statement released last week. Tony wrote: “We thank all the well-wishers and the fans who have supported the ‘Soul Train’ legacy. Love, Peace and Soul.”
