Earlier in the week, Fox executives confirmed to Vulture that the long awaited sequel to Waiting To Exhale will go on as planned despite the death of Whitney Houston.

Hip Hollywood recently caught up with two of the film’s star — Loretta Devine, who played “Gloria Matthews,” along with Dennis Haysbert, who played Whitney’s love-interest in the movie, “Kenneth Dawkins.” The two had conflicting views on how to proceed.

Devine said, “I hope it goes forward. Gregory Hines also passed away and he played my love interest in the movie. They found a way around that.” She also added, “I think it would be an honor and I think it’s something that Whitney would want to see happen. Devine said the movie be dedicated to her considering she played a crucial role in the first film’s success.

As for Haysbert, he said, “I’m not sure how I feel about moving forward without Whitney. It’s not gonna have the same vibration.”
