Last summer, Miami rapper Rick Ross opened up his very own Wingstop restaurant chain in Memphis Tenn. Of course he isn’t leaving the rap game to pursue a career as a wing fryer, but Ross wanted to give something back.

“With Wingstop we are bringing in the food I like and adding jobs to the community. It’s a double win,” Ross said in a written statement.

In early August 2011, Ross announced his plans to venture into the chicken wing industry. He also has rapped about Wingstop wings in his song “MC Hammer,” from his album Teflon Don. “After tasting Wingstop’s signature lemon pepper-flavored wings in Miami, I knew this was a franchise I wanted to add to my investments,” Ross told AllHipHop.com.

Wingstop is known for its fresh, cooked-to-order chicken. They pride themselves for not being fast-food, and serve their wings up piping hot. They have won at the Buffalo Wing festival three years in a row.

Ross, who is currently preparing the release of his fifth studio album, God Forgives, I Don’t, made a special appearance at the Memphis location back in Nov. 2011. While visiting, he had a meet & greet with customers and fans and was able to see how well his investment was doing.
