Twitter is many things to many people, but depending on whose timeline you scroll past it might look like nothing more than a wasteland of misery. Indeed, often times you’ll find many individuals with “jokes” ready to pounce on a given celebrity — even about things most personal to them. For singer Brandy, the example is how a 2006 fatal car accident she was involved in has become a punchline. During her joint interview with Monica on The Breakfast Club, she revealed how painful that kind of humor can be.

Brandy explained: “Those things hurt. I can’t sit here and say that I’m not affected by things like that because I am. Don’t take my humbleness for weakness at all. I am a very sensitive person, and I just feel like when people’s intentions are bad and when they go to a place to try and hurt you like that. That was a very unfortunate situation that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. When people take those moments to just send me pictures of car crashes or say things with evil intent, I think to myself, ‘How do people go to that place?’ because I don’t even know if I have that place inside of me to try to hurt somebody else.”
