Queen Latifah To Produce & Star In ‘Steel Magnolias’ Remake
The Lifetime Network is looking to remake the classic 1989 play and film Steel Magnolias. The project will be adapted for television and boasts Queen Latifah as one of its producers. As if that news weren’t enough, the cast features a a great group of actresses. Along with Queen Latifah, Jill Scott, Alfre Woodard, Phylicia Rashad, Adepero Oduye, and Condola Rashad will have roles in the film.
Steel Magnolias is a story of six friends living in Louisiana: M’Lynn (Queen Latifah), Shelby (Condola Rashad), Truvy (Scott), Annelle (Oduye), Ouiser (Woodard), and Clairee (Phylicia Rashad) supporting each other through trials and triumphs. The group gathers at Truvy’s beauty shop to talk about their issues with their husbands and children while making sure their hair and nails stay done.
