Soul music legend Bobby Womack has been stricken with colon cancer. The announcement came from Womack’s good friend, Bootsy Collins via Collins’ Facebook page.
Collins posted a message saying Bobby Womack wanted to thank his fans for their love and support and is in high spirits concerning his diagnosis.
“JUST SPOKE TO OUR FRIEND BOBBY WOMACK. He Wanted You All to Know That He Loves You & Thxs for the Prayers. Docs Says He Is In 1st Stage of Colon Cancer, He is Very Up Beat About His Future, we laughed & joked before we hung up. Thxs Funkateers, we will get him Back on the One!”
Womack was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2009. His last appearance on the music scene was in 2010 in the form of a collaboration with Gorillaz. Womack is slated to release another album called The Bravest Man in the Universe on June 12th.
