It was all good just a year ago or so Indiana Colts player Dwight Freeney thought. Freeney  was the victim of an embezzlement ploy masterminded by two of his financial advisors. TMZ got their hands on the federal court documents surrounding the case and found that the NFL player’s finacial team, Eva D. Weinberg and Michael A. Stern, were transferring large sums of money from Dwight Freeney’s accounts into an account held by Arms Reach Consulting. Arms Reach Consulting is a company under Stern’s control.

According to documents, Freeney was introduced to Stern through Weinberg. Freeney trusted Weinberg’s opinion of who he should do business with because of their working relationship in the past. Weinberg began working with Freeney while she was employed at Bank of America. After doing business with Weinberg and Stern for some time, Freeney noticed fraudulent money transfers in the sum of 2.2 million dollars and became suspicious. Freeney’s suspicions were confirmed when he found out Stern and Weinberg were dating. The pair bought expensive sunglasses, stays in luxurious hotels, and planned to buy a 1.5 million dollar private jet.

The court documents show federal agents heard Stern bragging over the phone that, “no one would be able to connect him to the [consulting] account if the wire transfers were investigated.” Too bad Stern didn’t realize Dwight Freeney and the feds were on to his scheme. He was arrested in Miami at the same time Weinberg was getting handcuffed in Los Angeles. They’ve both been charged with wire fraud.
