According to Billboard, the Divas special will be taped in Los Angeles this December and will have Whitney Houston’s musical director Rickey Minor as executive producer. As far as performers are concerned, no one has been confirmed for the show yet.

Many remember Whitney Houston performing on the show three times. She was a main performer in 1999 and made guest appearances in 2002 and 2003.

Houston’s family has already given their blessing for the tribute. Houston’s label Sony Entertainment signed off on the VH1 Divas special also. VH1 president Tom Calderone said, “We all felt that if any show could pay tribute to Whitney’s music, it would be ‘Divas. December felt like enough time where it wouldn’t be sad anymore, you’d want to celebrate her music.”

Will you be tuned in to the VH1 Divas when they honor Whitney Houston?
