Trina’s booking agent was working on a deal for the rapper to appear at an event at a St. Louis club. She was paid $7,000 as an artist fee. The problem arose when Trina’s agent told the promoter there were scheduling conflicts with the appearance date. Trina’s camp believed when they mentioned the scheduling conflicts, her appearance was going to be cancelled.

Since the promoter never got a formal cancellation letter in writing, he went ahead and promoted the event. When the date came around, Trina was a no show and clubgoers were pissed as were the concert promoters. Plenty of disappointed Trina fans demanded their money back. As a result, the promoter is planning a lawsuit against Trina for $16,000. The $16k includes Trina’s artist fee plus cost of promotion and other unspecified damages.

Trina’s camp is responding by saying Trina did agree to make an appearance at the club event, but cancelled the appearance long before the appropriate time. They went on to say Trina tried to give the $7,000 back, but the promoter refused to take it. They also believe the promoter falsely advertised Trina’s appearance as a performance when they knew she wouldn’t be taking the stage to perform at all. Trina is now looking into litigation options as well.

Who will be the first to sue? Who actually has grounds to sue? Sound off in the comments.
