Hit Fox singing reality competition “American Idol” got under way with its three new judges alongside returning judge Randy Jackson in New York City this weekend.

Producers of the show made the official announcement of who the new judges were only a few hours before they took their places at the judging table for the first day of auditions. Pop legend Mariah Carey will be seated next to country singer Keith Urban, Young Money‘s First Lady Nicki Minaj, and Randy Jackson for the twelfth season of “American Idol.” Before things got started, host Ryan Seacrest tweeted a photo of the judges, saying it was official and that they would be getting to work immediately.

As we reported earlier, Mariah Carey was the first to sign on for the judging gig. While rumors swirled that Nicki Minaj would be apart of the judging panel, it was still unclear if she would actually participate until the official announcement came down. Keith Urban was said to have committed to the show a few days ago. Randy Jackson was damn near out the door when he was convinced to return after negotiations with Latin pop star Enrique Iglesias ended with no agreement in sight.

You can see how the new judges interact with each other and potential contestants on the new season of “American Idol” when it premieres in January.
