The Barclays Center Gets Its First Racial Controversy
Less than a month old and The Barclays Center has become embroiled in its first controversy. Barbara Streisand rocked the arena a week after Jay-Z tore it down for eight straight shows. What has fans of Jay-Z up in arms is the fact that they had to go through a metal detector while Streisand concert-goers got the wand treatment.
Arena spokesperson Barry Baum denies any racial prejudice and says the Streisand patrons were spared the metal detector to speed up the long lines. Right. It is no secret that Jay-Z draws a different crowd than Babs (Streisand) and the few that act reckless at a Jigga show mess it up for everyone else. The higher the risk of violence the more precautions need to be taken. People who scream racism should think about that.
