Tensions have risen among Whitney Houston’s family. The Houston clan is arguing over where the pop icon should be laid to rest.
Houston’s mother, Cissy Houston, and cousin, Dionne Warwick, want Whitney to be buried in Atlanta. the two believe Whitney Houston would have wanted to be laid to rest in Atlanta because she enjoyed the Georgia city the most and had some of her fondest memories there. The other members of the Houston family are pushing for Houston to be buried in her home state of New Jersey.
Whitney’s mother told the family, “Michael Jackson did not want to be buried in New Jersey, and Whitney did not want to be buried in New Jersey.”
Since having that conversation, Warwick and Cissy Houston relented and plan to bury the singer in New Jersey. The memorial service will take place in Newark, New Jersey at the Prudential Center later this week. The service is said to be similar to the one done for Michael Jackson at the Staples Center in 2009.
