Rapper Ja Rule is free to roam the streets singing his thug love ditties. Ja Rule, born Jeffrey Atkins, was released from prison earlier today (May 7th). He was behind bars for illegal possession of a gun and tax evasion charges.

According to sources, Ja Rule left the Ray Brook Federal Prison in New York. Ja’s wife, Aisha, was waiting outside of the prison facility and drove the hit rapper straight home. He will be on house arrest until July 28th. Many remember Ja Rule getting sent to prison for two years due to a 2007 incident where he plead guilty to attempted possession of a firearm after police found a loaded semi-automatic gun in his luxury sports car.

The former Murder Inc. general also got 28 months in prison for tax evasion. Ja failed to pay three million dollars in taxes on his his income between 2004-2006. His sentences from each case were served concurrently which means Ja Rule was scheduled to get out of the slammer in July, but due to good behavior, he was allowed to be released early.
