Where is Drake from? Drake is from Toronto, Canada, where he was born Aubrey Drake Graham on October 24, 1986. The rapper and sometime actor comes from a mixed-race background — his father is African-American, while his mother is Jewish — and as a young man, he had a Bar Mitzvah. He identifies with both his black and Jewish roots, and thanks to his universal appeal, he’s sold more than 5 million records around the world. Drake’s Canadian background makes him something of an anomaly in the hip-hop game, as most of the biggest rappers hail from the United States, but over the course of his three studio albums, he’s proved that dudes from America’s neighbor to the north can hold it down on the mic.

That Drake’s hometown is Toronto has never been a secret, and as most fans know, he first found fame on the Canadian TV series “Degrassi: The Next Generation,” a teen soap opera on which he portrayed the character of Jimmy Brooks. Drake appeared on that show throughout the ’00s, but by 2006, he’d turned his attention to music, and in 2009, his tunes found their way into the hands of Lil Wayne. Weezy signed Drake to his Young Money roster, and from there, the Canadian-born MC was on his way. He’s since released three studio albums — “Thank Me Later” (2010), “Take Care” (2011), and “Nothing Was the Same” — all three of which have topped the Billboard 200.

Responding to the question of where Drake’s from, some fans might say “the bottom,” as he raps on the tune “Started From the Bottom,” a standout cut on “Nothing Was the Same.” While Drake does come from humble beginnings, he’s said that his mother, who raised him, did the best she could, and that they weren’t destitute. These days, the Toronto MC is nowhere near the bottom, of course, and he’s said to be worth $35 million.
