Remember Adam Richman from the Travel Channel show, “Man Vs. Food”? During the show’s run, he gained a lot of weight — not surprisingly due to all of the good food he was eating — and after its end he shed the weight.

When someone loses weight, it’s only natural for them to become an inspiration and champion for others going through the struggles too, right? That’s what happened when he posted a selfie to Instagram with the hashtag “thinspiration” which started a firestorm.

His entire caption read: “Had ordered this suit from a Saville Row tailor over a year ago. Think I’m gonna need to take it in a little…. #Victory #EyesOnThePrize #AnythingIsPossible #fitness #transformation #thinspiration”

Just the use of the word “thinspiration” was enough for this XOJane writer to feel like it was a poor choice of words because it promotes pro-anorexia and pro-bulimia activity. Richman’s response to the critique was simply, “DILLIGAF?” (“Does it look like i give a f-ck?”)

According to The Guardian, he got into a fight with many people who attacked his use of the word.

To other critics he wrote, “Oh eat a bag of sh*t, dummy. No apology is coming. If it inspires someone to attain a healthy thinner body then that was what it was meant to do. Only f-ckup it seems was your dad’s choice to go without a condom,” and “grab a razor blade and draw a bath. I doubt anyone will miss you.”

He has since apologized and wrote, “I’ve responded to internet hate recently with vile words directed at those hating me. I am sorry, I should know better & will do better.” But that wasn’t enough for for the Travel Channel. His show “Man Finds Food” was supposed to premiere today (July 2), but they have postponed it indefinitely.

“I’ve long struggled with my body image and have worked very hard to achieve a healthy weight,” Richman said in a statement to ABC News.
