“God didn’t put us on the earth to get murdered,” the chorus croons between rappers spitting potent lyrics about the value of Black life, the stress violence puts on a community and how to move on. The six minute track begins with an inspirational message from DJ Khaled, “As we keep our hands up high, and scream for justice, Ferguson, rest in peace Mike Brown and all the young soldiers out there. God help us…”
And once the catchy chorus comes in, and you can hear it being sung by the voice of children, creating a very potent and distinct feeling: innocent children are dying. They sing, “It’s time to take a stand save our future, like we all got shot, like we all got shot.”
