Adrian Peterson Suspended Without Pay For Rest Of NFL Season
Shrouded by controversy, Adrian Peterson‘s rocky season has been cut short. The NFL released a statement Tuesday that the Minnesota Vikings running back will be suspended for the rest of the 2014 season without pay. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says that Peterson has “shown no meaningful remorse” for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
The earliest Peterson will be able to suit up with his teammates will be in April 2015. In addition to the penalty, he must meet with a league-appointed therapist for counseling by Dec. 1.
In a letter to Peterson, Goodell states:”We are prepared to put in place a program that can help you to succeed, but no program can succeed without your genuine and continuing engagement. You must commit yourself to your counseling and rehabilitative effort, properly care for your children, and have no further violations of law or league policy.”
Failure to comply will result in Peterson’s banishment from the NFL.
