George Zimmerman Arrested For Aggravated Assault

According to Seminole County, Florida booking records, Lake Mary police arrested George Zimmerman on charges of aggravated assault with a weapon at approximately 10:00 p.m. Friday night.

Zimmerman initially made headlines in 2012 after fatally shooting unarmed, Florida teenager Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman was acquitted in July of 2013 and was subsequently was linked to several celebrity boxing opportunities, which never materialized.

According to published reports, Friday’s incident occurred at Zimmerman’s house and involved a wine bottle. Judge John Galluzzo ordered Zimmerman to surrender all firearms, and Zimmerman is due back in court on February 17.

Since his 2013 acquittal, Zimmerman has been involved in a domestic dispute with his estranged wife, Shellie Zimmerman, and separate incident with a woman named Samantha Scheibe. In both cases, the women declined to press charges.
